My dad loses connection to the wifi on his printer on a pretty regular basis and then can't remember how to connect the printer. I live far away and so can't do it for him. We use your video over and over, it's a life saver!
Andy, my thanks to you for this video tutorial. I've had my Envy Printer for over a year, and every time I tried to connect it to my main computer for remote use, I failed. After about 2 minutes with your tutorial, and about 3 minutes of settings, and password entry, I was up and printing. WOW. AWESOME HELP.
Lifesaver! My 92 year old father has a new router installed and called me to help with the printer. Since he lives almost 200 miles away I couldn't just pop round so a phone call and your post got him up and running. I know your post is 8 years old but thank you for taking the time to post this. The HP website was a complete waste of time!
Perfect! Got a new modem with built-in router and initially couldn't figure out why I couldn't print anymore. I followed your video and now I'm good to go. Thanks!
What happens if it keeps saying connection failed retry ? I have tried over and over but it doesn't connect. When I press the wi-fi button it doesn't take me to the screen you have with settings info it just shows via software or printer.
Every router has a different setting with a unique SSID and a passphrase (if it's secured). What I recorded was for a friend's Netgear router and we used the default ID and passphrase, which was on the box. Do you know who set up your router, or do you still have the box? There is no way for anybody else to know or guess your SSID and passphrase. Sorry I can't be more help.
really good instructions on how to connect to a WiFi on a hp envy 4500 printer so you know how to do it. really good video quality and great screen on whole screen on video
Hi Andy- I realize this is an old video but hope you check your message still. I recently got a new router and modem. I did the Wizard function, found my new network, entered my password - I received a message stating my password wasn't long enough. I use this password with everything else with no issue. Now what?
Good video I have had a new internet modem and now my HP envy will not print. I have gone into the printer display menu and reset the password. Now I'm confused as it is asking me to use the embedded web service (EWS). What is this? Thk U. (Sorry for what might be a simple answer.)
So weird my connect isnt detected. SSID is enabled all my other devices are connected but this printer doesn't seem to want to show my wifi network. SO odd.
I have an HP Envy 5530 and I've followed every step in the book but for some reason I cannot connect to my wifi network. The password is correct and everything. I have no idea what to do at this point.
I can not get my lap top to recognize my new printer. What am I doing wrong. I follow the directions but my lap top can't find the printer. Does not recognize the IP address.
I've been trying to connect my printer to the same wifi as my computer, and it tells me that it works. but then i look at my connection and it says "limited". What do i do?!
Zeppelin lover, It may not be an issue. Limited connectivity may just mean that it is connected at the house, but not to the internet. Try installing and printing to it as it is. To troubleshoot, there may be a conflict with the IP address. A simple fix would be to restart the printer while connected, the router will give it a new address when it turns back on. It may also mean that the passphrase is wrong. Are you sure you are typing it in correctly? capital letters and numbers included. My last thought is that printers have smaller, weaker antenna, and it may be out of range, although the computer is in range. Try changing the location, just to check this idea out.
For some reason printer won't connect tp my wireless network....error message: incorrect password ,does not match the settings on your router..... ...have had same password and router for the last 5 years.. went on Twitter but HP soooo slow to respond......need help
+Jessica Threlfall, I would highly recommend using a USB cable when you are not on a private network. In your case, I doubt your printer would even be allowed on a shared university network. If for some reason it is, consider that anybody who connects to that network would see your printer... That's a lot of people potentially accidentally printing to your printer.
Thank you so much for doing this! It was an easy fix, but I just couldn't figure it out. Hey, I am 72 and considered a technology adapter! It is not easy so THANKS.
If you are connecting with ethernet, you should be able to skip the step in this video and only run the software on your computer. Wired connections don't require all the security steps and settings.
Have you checked to see if you have SSID broadcast enabled for your router? If not, you may have to enable this while you connect your printer and then disable it again so that you're not broadcasting your network ID.
+Erik Huan -Sorry to reply so late... Google doesn't always notify me when I have a message. Erik, everything should reset when you start the process. Also, you should be able to reset to default in that same menu.
For your WiFi? Usually if you haven't set it up yourself (and by that i mean gone into the routers settings and changed it manually) it should be on the router itself. It's usually a very long string of letters and numbers. If you have set up a password, you'll have to look online to see how to reset the password. It varies from router to router how you would go about doing it.
