Connor having “no emotion” is ridiculous. As a native, it makes sense that he was a little naive, a little more quiet and a little more reserved around the rest of the characters in the game. And he was scarred to say the least. Connor is fuckin dope. Not to mention he is physically the largest and strongest assassin, my mans is a tank.

I truly respect Connor,he had the courage to change his fate even it's crumble. He doesn't lost his sanity nor himself due to seeing his mother burned alive, and terrible things that took place afterwards. Connor has lots of burden to be carried on his shoulder than Ezio. It's just my opinion, I also like Ezio but the hates that Connor deserves are unbearable to see 😔

Ezio was like Tony Stark and Connor was like Batman. Everyone loves Tony Stark at first glance because he’s funny, charismatic and basically what every man wants to be. Batman is depressed, angry, and wants nothing but to strike back against those who’ve wronged him. Tony Stark works because you like him immediately therefor he’s immediately more popular. The reason why Batman works is because there are a lot of stories about him that show how damaged he is and go into his grief. Ezio had 3 games tied into his growth as a character meanwhile Connor only had 1. Would people immediately like Batman if there was only one story about him? No because he would he considered boring and unlikeable. Guarantee if Ubisoft didn’t pull a bitch move and rip Connor immediately, they could’ve given him more time for his entire arc and would’ve made him much more likeable. Connor is not even a bad character to begin with but people bitched and moaned because they wanted another Ezio. As you said, having another Ezio would be boring which is why I heavily disliked Arno because he was essentially a carbon copy of Ezio. Connor is heavily underrated and if people actually took the time to learn his character, he’d be much more liked in the community.

@@kareemhassan7780 Bruce Wayne and Batman are different that's the whole point of the mask moron, And as Shadow said, Connor only had 1 game Ezio had 3 games for development. And by the end of the game Connor had the worst out of everything, badly injured by the fight he had with his father, his people betrayed him, his mentor was dead, George Washington lied to him, and even if the war was over, the one that loses the most is him.

Plus he's characteristics are more charming to me he is noble, brave , courageous and never backs down or gives up, he can be so vicious and deadly yet so humble and peaceful and his character even impressed his templar father he was actually proud of the man he became.for me these qualities are more appealing than just being a flamboyant playboy ...

Also, it is confirmed in the game by Connor's people that Charles Lee is the one that convinced them to attack a patriot camp, which Connor puts a stop to, which in turn, forces him to kill his best friend and drive him away from from his tribe, so yeah, he still has a good ass reason to kill Charles Lee.

Connor I feel has always been the most dedicated Assassin. he represents another facet of the Assassin's kinda like with Dorian about how being an Assassin is a lifetime of sacrifices, both in people you care for and even with your own goals. The main thing that sets Connor apart from all others is his absolute resolution that he has. I feel many of the Assassin's we've had are indeed loyal to the brotherhood but Connor, aside from Ezio and Altair I feel truly understands and inhabits the role of the Assassin to the very end.

@@shanedawndusk3290 I don't know about you, but I feel Connor and Arno deserve a sequel. I could consider a sequel which would take place in Australia which I would call Assassins' Creed Down Under where 2 can be playable - Connor and Arno where they will band together to stop the Templars, convicts banished from Great Britain to Australia and stop slavery in Colonial America and Australia. Then Connor (in Achilles' robes) along with his recruits join Djarrjuntjun, Aveline, Eliza, Robert Faulkner and Arno in the fight against James Cook and the templars who seek to colonise Australia. Great analysis but the beginning about “vengeful” no forgiveness culture that you think the Mohawk people are is untrue many tribes and especially those in the Iroquois nation valued helping each other and community and making sure everyone was ok as you get better farmers, builders, warriors if they are mentally good and feel loved and a sense of community. I think in conors case it came down to him being a child at the time unable to prevent what happened because he was an untrained child and not to mention he didn’t know his father and had no father figure and he internalized this struggle and made it real by disagreeing with the elders on pacifism. Anyway good video but that beginning part rubbed me the wrong way as I’m native myself I’d like to help stop the “savage” image our ancestors are given dispute being leagues ahead when it came to acceptance and helping everyone in the community.

Comparing Connor to Ezio is honestly one of the biggest problems in AC, basically goes like this: You want a new character to be accepted by the fan base? Make him like Ezio. You're unsure whether or not your character is up to the standards of AC? Compare him to Ezio. You have no idea what kind of character you want to make? ctrl +C Ezio. I love Ezio, but ever since his trilogy every character has been compared to him as if he is the golden standard, when in reality each character should be allowed to just be different.

Not just when we see him as a child, for the majority of the game he's in his late teens/early 20s. He's never older than what Ezio was in the middle of his own first game, so if we're to compare maturity level at the time they're the same age, I'd say Connor seems a lot more mature than Ezio

The real reason why connor was naive is because unlike Ezio he wasn't born on royalty, he was born on a tribe, they only knew, hunting, survival, killing and protection,.. As a tribal man he probably didn't knew about society, politics, education but still he managed to learn by his mother. Ezio on the other ahnd was born in royalty, had the best education, had family, had money, Most people forget this differences.

I am sorry but I don't think you pointed out all the good arguments. For example the fact that Charles Lee was the guide of the Templars and Connor HAD to kill him to stop them. In the end, when he kills Lee, there is no hate, no vengeance, just duty. You could have also cited the Homestead Missions where we can see another side of Connor. He is not only an angry, sad young man but also caring, nice, brave and generous. The Homestead Missions are probably my favorite missions in all the game because we can see him for what and who he is: not a warrior but an outcast who creates his own "country" made of outcasts like him. Finally, he could not kill Washington for the sake of revolution. This shows how he grew from the angry boy who just wanted revenge that he was at the beginning of the story.

I think Connor is the most misunderstood character, because he is the most complicated. Whereas Ezio represents a shift within a single civilization, Connor represents a possible fusion of 2 very different cultures. He is both European AND Mohawk. His epilogue reveals his complexity and his desire to unite the civilizations under the banner of liberty. He isnt naive. He is very principled andidealistic. He is only naive in that he simply expects others to live by his principles, which arent bad,but soon discovers western countries did not. Learning to bribe town criers is different from his "tell the truth" approach. He lacks a sense of humor, and is more brooding, because the weight on his shoulders of such a colossal undertaking.

He was 13 when Achilles told him “What is true and what is are not always the same.” It took until the end of the game through his deleted monologue for him to understand those words but he committed to his values anyway. Connor was always a great character. He just had the misfortune of being the assassin after Ezio and was compared to him constantly.

I’ve noticed that a lot of people have trouble processing characters that don’t have traditional arcs. You see it whenever that kind of story is told through the lens of a big franchise-most people expect one specific type of arc for a character (that centers around becoming stronger and/or learning a moral lesson) and anything outside of that is considered “bad writing.” Ezio is so beloved because (1) he genuinely was a really fun character, but also because (2) his story is a very comforting one. It directly follows the Hero’s Journey, and shows a brash boy grow into a wise man, something easily palatable and expected. But Connor is a different kind of character, not just in personality but also in narrative function. He’s not *supposed* to go on an Ezio arc, because the game isn’t about Connor’s growth. It’s about his perspective. The game (though very flawed) does an awesome job at depicting the paradox of America, and Connor is crucial to this theme. There’s the America that exists in our minds, the one that was built on principles like freedom, justice, and opportunity, and then there’s the America that actually exists. There’s always been a tension between the ideal and the reality, and Connor/AC3 actually does a really great job exploring that idea imo. Connor is a symbolic character while Ezio is a more traditional protagonist. There’s nothing wrong with either one, but the latter is always going to have more fans.

Connor, DESERVES and EARNED his chance to be the new face of the franchise. Let's be honest....YES, he was an angry dude, lacked sense of humor. Which made it hard to really ENJOY the plot and character development. HOWEVER, think about the Mohawk/Iroquois Nation and what they had to endure, the loss, and genocide. Yet, Connor still prevailed, he did not do it alone exactly, he did recruit some fighters (I don't remember if they became actual assassins or they just were fill-ins for their respected skills). He was a boy who lived his younger years believing Charles Lee killed his family and village and dealing with his Father abandoning him and his Mother. Connor was stubborn and for the most part would do what he thought was right, and what may have been best for him. Which makes him alil selfish. But the game, the storyline and campaign....the side missions were incredible.

I wanted to point out that charles also manipulated connors village to attack the colonist and also influencing his friend to fight against him making him kill(though he could have avoided that) his childhood friend, for which connor also blames charles, Charles also tried to get him hanged in the prision sequence. He was also constantly trying to kill washington which was also going against connor. And I think charles was sent by washington to burn the village

The problem wasn't Conner it was everyone expecting another Ezio. The problem with Ezio is he is a fantasy character who almost never makes mistakes. Ever since then each protagonist is Ezio but lacking something which makes them more compelling. Connor holding a grudge makes far more sense. Ezio was made to be perfect but Connor wasn't. His ideals and views make sense from a country bumking. It makes sense that he doesn't trust anyone. Woukd you? If everyone your people trusted turned on you? Ezio got over it all far too quickly to feel feasible or believable.

I don't know about you, but I feel Connor and Arno deserve a sequel. There will be iconic Red Rock, Sydney, Adelaide, Swan River Colony (now called Perth), Van Dieman's Land (now called Tasmania) and Canberra. The start of the story will be Faulkner and Connor bringing his recruits, Aveline and Eliza on the Aquila to Australia. A flood of memories came to him. "It's all a matter of perspective. There is no single path through life that's right and fair and does no harm." "Your meddling in the revolution has caused us no small measure of grief. It cannot continue. Our work is too important." came another. "Do you think that good King George lies awake at night hoping that no harm comes to his native subjects? Or that the people of the city care one whit about them? Oh, sure, the colonists are happy to trade when they need food or shelter or a bit of extra padding for their armies. But when the walls of the city constrict - when there's crops that need soil - when there's... when there's no enemy to fight - we'll see how kind the people are then." "Thing is, boy, I can have what I seek. Had it, even. You? Your hands will always be empty." "And we should live forever on castles in the sky." Most of the stuff you said was true, BUT........when Connor chooses to take out Charles Lee after finding out that it was really Washington the whole time, that wasn’t “denying the truth” because he literally said before you cut the clip between Washington and Haytham, “Charles Lee is still no less a monster.” So he’s not getting rid of Lee out of Revenge, he’s doing it for the right reason now. People say “Connor never changes or develops.” I call bullshit. If he never developed than he would’ve killed Washington since “he only wanted revenge.” If they would’ve expanded on that scene and made it a “parting glass” type of moment in Connor’s story, it would’ve been perfect👌👌👌

I love Connor and you make some good points, but some inaccurate ones. Charles Lee may not have ordered the attack, but he was a soldier and did have a hand in it. Charles Lee's interaction with child Connor imprinted Charles Lee on his memory in relation to the destruction of his village and the death of his mother. Haytham does make great points, and I believe Connor kept alive the idea that they could reconcile, but when Haytham continued supporting Charles Lee, then Connor realized that reconciliation was not as feasible as he once thought. In supporting the colonies, he did not lie to himself about the truth, he did call the colonists out on the hypocrisies such as preaching freedom while owning slaves or using propaganda to sway public opinion. Connor really did stay true to the moral foundations that he was raised with and wholly believed in as an outsider interacting with a foreign society. He did not join the Assassin's because of wanting revenge on Charles Lee. He did so after the "spirits" (Isu) directed him to seek out the symbol in order to fulfill his destiny. AC3 was my first game played in the series, as I looked for a game in the American Revolution. It hooked me on the series and I found Connor highly relatable.

I’m replaying AC3 and I think Connor could’ve been a perfect transition from a handsome, wise, charismatic Italian to young, naive, native novice assassin who wants to be a true man of the people. But they failed to add more lines that convinced the players he was learning and changing and the voice actor could’ve done a more realistic delivering of Connors words as a native would. Tone and delivery is everything he would’ve needed to be a passable/perfect character in the assassin/ Desmond lineage.

Like AC Origins was enjoyed by most of the commmunity, so they went for the RPG style because they thought it would be the most safe. I feel we shouldn't look down on Ubisoft, but actually take a look in their shoes. And so hard to explain to these ezio fanboys because of their big ego...

Connor to this day is still my favorite AC protagonist. He has always stuck with me because of despite his stotic nature, he has a pure caring heart for the common man and doesnt want the unjustice that fell upon him as a child happen to anyone else. He doesnt see the social stigma that overs do. Which yes makes him naive but gives him a nobility that see everyone as equals and will defend people that need defending.

💯 #MoveInSilence #TeamAries ♈ Connor is lowkey the most heroic in the series. He accomplished literal everything that Achilles and the rest of The Order instructed, maintained integrity, and retired peacefully to the homestead that he inherited. I mean; he beat literally all the Templar in the U.S. They clearly only took over because nobody could fill Connor's shoes after he died.

I liked Connor but he got overshadowed by his father. Haytham's perspective was easier to buy into plus he was more reasonable than most of the Templar in the series. Plus I think fans were looking for a change so exploring the Templars felt like a good hook. I still like him and wouldn't mind a sequel but a more practical problem is the lack of big marketable events to put him till 1812. I wouldn't mind him going up against Shay post Ac3.

I always loved AC3 and AC4 the most, if Ubisoft didn't ditch Connor the first chance they got they could expand his story, make him the first character to actually explicitly show us that both Templar's and Assassin's creeds are flawed. I never understood people's criticism of AC3, gameplay or story-wise. The only thing I complained about is the story becoming a bit stale at times.

Here's a deleted scene During the Battle of Chesapeake Bay, "Need to get... inside the fort..." Connor staggered, "Where are you, Charles?" "Brace yourself!" shouted Shay, sliding on the zip line, kicking Connor to the ground. Alone with space to manoeuvre, Connor got up and kicked him in the groin area sending Shay staggering. Shay attacked immediately, but Connor blocked and countered all of his attacks and Shay kicked Connor aside. He collected himself and Shay tried again, failed to land a good hit and Connor kicked Shay to the ground. "Who are you?" asked Shay. "I was trained by Achilles. Now step aside." "Achilles? I should have known Achilles would never learn. In that case, you will make a good target." "You joined the templars. Achilles told me you were once an assassin who joined the templars. Now you became my father's puppet." "You're the one whom the poor sod I killed in Versailles mentioned. You killed Weeks, Gist and James Cook." Shay recalled. "I have the foggiest idea about what you're talking about." "It doesn't matter. What matters is that I made a mistake in sparing Achilles. Die, assassin!" Without recourse, Shay leapt at Connor. Shay's fighting style was as every bit as powerful and deadly as he was when killing the assassins. He released berserk darts from his firearm. Connor was gripped in the lash of the darts' effects. Snarling and growling, Connor chased Shay who avoided his blind rage. A misdirect hit from Connor sent Shay to the ground. Judging by the injuries, they weren't too severe as similar to Haytham and Connor, Shay can heal at swift rate. He dealt a hard blow to the possessed Connor, knocking him to the floor. As the effects wore off, unlike his victims who died, Connor went in a state of fatigue. However he couldn't afford to relax or get caught in Shay's hidden blades. "I feel nauseous." Connor tried to clear his head from its contents. From his rifle rolled a useful gift: a fragmentation grenade with a powerful blast radius. "Why? What have you got against Achilles?" "Achilles was always a failed mentor who murdered his followers." Shay pointed out. "Achilles may have made mistakes, but he never murdered his followers." Connor rebuffed. "Is it not murder to send ill-prepared assassins like you to their demise?" This brought no answer. In furious sequence, Shay fired three grenades in rapid succession at Connor who tried to steer a course between the grenades. He heard rapid ticking as a grenade bounced towards him. "Take this," Shay growled. Connor dodged aside from the blast. The grenades exploded. And in so doing it inflicted damage that Connor could not long sustain, leaving his health at its lowest. Connor had at least the miracle of the swift healing with which to undo such hurt as he suffered, if more than one took its toll, but he somehow sensed he would need such miracles to better purpose. He flipped himself back on his feet and drew a wary path between the remaining grenades, nearly obscured in dazzling clouds of dust as the explosions wore off. His assassin's instinct signalled him to avoid Shay's incoming attack with his hidden blade and grabbed him by his head. Connor smashed Shay's head on the table before smashing a glass bottle on his head. "You should have joined the templar." Shay insisted. "Even if you were a templar, you had some sense of honour. Achilles told me you rendered some child an orphan. Where's that sense of honour in that?" Panting hard, with a deft thrust he plunged the berserk date onto the templar's neck. Caught in a paroxysm of madness and rage, Shay went on a destructive rampage. Connor avoided his foe's who was sweeping his sword crazily. This drew fully half his strength. The rogue assassin was stilled for a moment, and teetered on collapse. However, his recovery was swift. Connor closed in on Shay to try combat one-on-one. No crude fighter he was; the templar blocked expertly and swung his sword in swift reply. The Irish swordsman closed in from behind, and Connor was knocked heavy blows as he attempted to block. A boot kicked out. He could not afford to be caught close to Shay, and rolled aside as the sword crashed down. Agility was his surest defense. He fought back as well as he was able. Connor seemed never to gain advantage before the latter lunged fast to assault him from behind. Shay seemed inexhaustible; as fast as he struck one the other closed in, and he could not hope to hold him at bay. Shay moved nimbly as Connor launched the attack, and once more railed on the stricken assassin. Connor recalled the berserk dart and avoided them. He caught one of them. and stabbed him again. As the templar went into a maddened state, he thrust and slashed furiously in the wrong direction. Connor watched for Haytham's enforcer to rise as he kept up the assault, then moved away to set the sequence again. Connor patiently manoeuvred to execute the trap again and again, each time luring the enraged foe to his pattern of weakness. Soon enough he sensed a chance to use the tomahawk a second time. At a moment it seemed he was beaten to the point of death. With the last of his strength he struck him, then flipped, hung off the neck and stabbed fast and threw himself clear. The Native assassin sank injured and exhausted to his knees. With Shay wounded, Connor moved in for questioning. "I won't ask you again why did you betray the assassins?" "Why would I even tell you? The assassins lost sight of their beliefs. Templars have always been a family. You, an assassin, I don't even need to know. Looks like Achilles trained you well. 1755, a huge calamity befell us. People live in houses in poor conditions, children beg for money, animals look for food and refugees look for shelter. I was determined to help those in need, thanks to the British and Templars." "You act as though the templars are doing things in your favour. You play your part as if you're doing people favours, yet you gleefully use your status among the templars to bolster whatever whim that would work in your favour." Connor rebuffed. "Look around you! You think you're doing the world a favour. Do you even realise you're the cause of this mess? I think you're so busy playing the hero that you're forgetting the consequences and how it would affect the people living now and then." "Achilles warned me that I should take care of the world so that I don't destroy it." "So he did. Looks like he learnt his lessons. Inside of you running around dispensing freedom, why not think of something from me? You should take my word for it. You have to take my word for it if you're to improve living conditions for people and animals, if you're to be a hero, Connor. The templars will rule, thanks to me. I make my own luck." The Irish templar moaned his last breath and Connor performed his prayers in his Native language. "Let the spirits grant you your last luck in the spirit world."

I don't know about you, but I feel Connor and Arno deserve a sequel. You? Your hands will always be empty." "And we should live forever on castles in the sky." "In your haste to save the world, boy - take care you don't destroy it!" "The people never have the power. Only the illusion of it. And here's the real secret: they don't want it. The responsibility is too great to bear. It's why they're so quick to fall in line as soon as someone takes charge. They want to be told what to do. They yearn for it." Upon arriving at Hawkesbury River, Connor and his allies witnessed the Indigenous clan under attack by European invaders. - - Connor's story - - 1779 Connor assassinates James Cook while his recruits (Stephane, Clipper, Duncan, Deborah, etc...) combat against the incoming wave of enemies led 1781 Connor trained a 13 years old Arno Dorian before both facing Shay Cormac. 1782 Connor helped freed an Aboriginal Australian assassin of Gumatj tribe whom I'll name Djarrjuntjun might have a similar past like Connor, hailed from Southern parts of Western Australia. 27th January 1788, Connor, his daughter, Djarrjuntjun and their allies combat Jack Weeks and the templars who displaced a group of convicts at Sydney Cove. The recruits dealt with the convicts. 6th February 1788, The women convicts came ashore. There followed a ‘scene of debauchery and riot’, accompanied by a violent thunderstorm. Eliza, Deborah and Aveline faced the women convicts who were involved in the massacre of Aboriginal Australians. 21st May 1788 - Djarrjuntjun killed a convict and seriously injured another. 31st December 1788 - Because the Aboriginal Australians could not be coaxed into the settlement, Djarrjuntjun begged Connor and his allies that one named Arabanoo was captured and held in confinement. Phillip hoped to learn his language and so to promote good relations between Aboriginal Australians and Europeans. They assassins was about to free Arabanoo until they discovered him being a traitor. 1789 - Connor assassinated Arabanoo and questioned him as to why he sided with the Europeans. The Second Fleet. 1791 - The Third Fleet. 1794 - Hawkesbury and Nepean Wars and Lady Shore Mutiny. 14 December 1799 - Connor assassinated George Washington, to avenge the village. - - Arno's story - - 5th February 1803 - Arno assassinated George Bass. 4 and 5 March 1804 - Connor, Arno and their allies fought the templars led by George Johnston throughout the Castle Hill Convict Rebellion. Yeah ok Conner might get undue hate, but in my AC marathon so far AC3 is a step down from the Ezio trilogy imho and not because of Conner. I think people didn't compare Conner favorably to Ezio, but I also think that AC3 itself had a negative impact on how people viewed the character. Just my two cents. Edit: I think Ezio just had better games, and maybe I'm not alone in that opinion, and maybe that's part of the reason people didn't latch on to Conner.

The fact that this video has little views shows clearly that Connor lacks all the attention he deserves and falls into the underrated assassin category. To me personally, I found Connor a well developed character, the series had a good head start at that point. Connor should be stoic and lack of Ezio traits just because the environment he grew up with. I believe some of the criticisms came because of Haytham, we had to play almost hour an a half with Haytham which many found boring and tedious. Although I enjoyed playing Haytham and he was a great villain that the series has to offer. Other than that, Connor is one of the underrated and best assassin, the impact he made to the brotherhood and easilu the strongest.

Don't know if many people remember this but there was an AC3 mobile game made by Gameloft, it was the first ever Assassin's Creed game I ever played. I was about 11-14 when I first played it and from that game Connor remained one of my favorite characters even as I grew older I knew about Ezio and understood their stories. Sure I'm a bit of a Connor fanboy😅 but I think it's because Connor was my first main character I played as, I was able to understand his character. People were kind of upset that he still went ahead to kill Charles Lee but aside from the fact that Lee caused him to kill his best friend, as long as Charles Lee continued to live, the Templars would rise again, sure they would still rise again later in the future, but that would be a better alternative than if Charles Lee was allowed to live and they rose again with Lee leading them as the Grandmaster.
