• Metro Exodus - Race Ag...
Conor Anthony McGregor (born 14 July 1988) is an Irish mixed martial artist, boxer, and businessman. He is a former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight and lightweight double-champion. As of July 19, 2021, he is #9 in the UFC lightweight rankings.
McGregor is a former Cage Warriors featherweight and lightweight champion. In 2015, at UFC 194, he defeated José Aldo for the UFC Featherweight Championship via knockout 13 seconds into the first round, which is the fastest victory in UFC title fight history. Upon defeating Eddie Alvarez for the UFC Lightweight Championship at UFC 205, McGregor became the first fighter in UFC history to hold titles in two weight divisions simultaneously.

Dustin just keeps farming McGregor on respawn. It's a fair grinding strategy given he consistently drops good loot so I can't hate him for it, but I would like to see him go for a boss fight soon.

I bet Conor was very happy with the end result. He didn't have to wimp out and tap (and risk being called Little Conor McTapout), and he didn't risk getting knocked out either. Breaking his leg, was probably more than he hoped for. And yet, while he was down there, he made his mouth go. Easy to be mouthy, when the fight is over and you know you wont get smacked again. Ask Conor to mouth off while his opponent CAN hit him, and he has nothing to say. He can't even look them in the eye when he has no confidence.

If you truly followed Conor's career from the beginning, like truly followed him in every fight and event; you knew it was over during the Khabib pre-fight press conferences. The witty, calm, composed, and most importantly confident Conor was no where to be found. I had predicted he would lose every fight after that, except for the Cowboy fight because that was given to him on a platter.

Love that part where Poirier jokingly answers with "Yeah, because he got knocked the fuck out" and the crowd laugh. Watch McGregor, he stiffens up, because he hates it when the crowd are laughing at him. You can just see the wheels turning as he is trying to swallow his anger and come up with a witty response to regain control of the situation. Poirier played that perfectly, and even better, it was completely off the cuff, he kept it nice and simple. I've seen this happen with McGregor before, when someone manages to get the crowd to laugh at him, it makes him angry. He really doesn't like being disrespected. That is the real McGregor, right there under the surface.

I mean.....you're acting like this shits a psychological mind grenade, ofc no one likes a crowd laughing at them. Good point tho, I've never seen Conor stiffen up like that
@zalamael
@zalamael 3 года назад
@@kingkaywicked6698 Most people maybe, but there are people in the world who don't give a shit what other people think of them, it is water off a duck's back to them. Sociopaths are a good example of that. Poirier was like that during this press conference, Conor was trying to get under his skin, and it wasn't working, because Poirier didn't care. The only time he looked irritated is when he was asked a question, and Conor kept talking over the top of him, stopping him from answering. And he swallowed his irritation pretty quickly. Contrast that with Conor's reaction to a single put down by Poirier. The harder Conor tried to irritate Poirier, the more impotent he looked when it didn't work, and when Poirier fired back (which took everyone by surprise), Conor had to sit and look even more impotent as the crowd laughed at him. He does his best to use the crowd as a weapon against his opponent, to get them on his side, laughing at the other guy. When it happens to him though, his reaction is always worse, he hates having it done to him more than most fighters do (or should I say, they can handle it better). My guess, is that Conor was bullied at school, and he hasn't gotten over it. That is a common reaction in people who have been bullied, especially when they have no reason to be insecure about it (when they have fame, money, hot girlfriend etc). If you want another example, look at what happened when Conor hit that old guy in the pub. If I remember right, the old guy disrespected Conor's whiskey, and Conor couldn't handle it, he got emotional and lashed out, and it was caught on CCTV. Despite his swagger, he has a fragile ego under the surface, and given his success, that is probably the result of his childhood (skinny ginger kids get bullied all the time at school).

I agree! I think Conor sort of lost his identity. He doesn’t even know who is is anymore in the octagon. He played mr nice guy because he was coming off of a bunch of controversies and he didn’t want to lose the love of the fans. Then the fans criticized Mr Niceguy and questioned if Conor lost his spark so Conor tries to go back to the old Conor and it came across as contrived and now people are criticizing him for putting on an act. Interesting stuff. Kind of reminds me of Eminem. Trying to please people instead of making the music he wants to make. Conor should just be himself and fuck what everybody thinks.

I think the saddest thing is that he was a tremendous athlete and talent. He had the hunger, drive and focus to reach the top and bring many things to the sport. But over the years, he's not the same fighter and he's reached a point where he has to coerce himself that he's "that" man. If he retired after the Mayweather fight, he could've preserved his legacy. Now, he seems to taint it more than build it up.

It’s a real shame, these legends enter their fields as monsters with this rage and fire inside them, and they do great. But once they make it and get the wealth, the family, and the comfort, they lose their flame and are just a husk of their former selves. I’ve seen this in Conor and Green Day for example. It sucks, cuz I really like Conor and got into him fairly recently just to see 264. But now it’s time for the new generation of fighters, actors, musicians, etc. Paddy the Baddy definitely shoes promise in my opinion.
@zalamael
@zalamael Год назад
" He had the hunger, drive and focus to reach the top and bring many things to the sport." This is nonsense. Conor McGregor only has hunger for one thing, and that is attention. He is an inherently insecure man who craves adoration, it is the only thing that matters to him. He has never had the hunger and drive to be a real champion. I can't remember who it was who said it, but after Conor tapped against Nate Diaz, this guy pointed out that Conor had already surrendered, that he 'offered his back' to Diaz because he wanted it to end. I didn't buy it at the time, but then I watched Conor's fight with Khabib, and he did it twice. The first time, Khabib didn't take the offer, and continued mauling McGregor. The second time, Khabib made him tap. It was pathetic that Conor had already given up and he wanted the beating to end. He has no heart, and I always find it pathetic that his fans who worship him refuse to condemn him for it. It was quite telling when Conor was in the press conference with Poirier, and he tried to accuse Poirier of only caring about the money, when in reality he was describing himself. Poirier has far more heart than Conor ever will.

Excellent analysis! Let's all keep in mind that the way a person acts toward others has very little to do with the "others," and it's all about how the person feels about THEMSELVES. The only way to hate someone is to have hate in your heart. Conor's recent behavior is exactly what DC called it: a cry for help. He's got all the money he could ever spend, worldwide fame, and what appears to be a great family. The missing component is his own self-esteem. Clearly the man isn't dealing with his fall from grace, and he's strking out with all he's got. I really believe Conor's day of fighting relevance are over. He'll always be able to manufacture big money fights, but he's never going to be a driving force in his division. And I think he knows it to. And that's likely the problem.

When Khabib said “he lose so much energy”…he means he loses focus. Not energy. It’s an English barrier
@SirJaymesDAudelée
@SirJaymesDAudelée 3 года назад
I can also see “energy” as pertaining to that of “karmic” energy (perhaps said in an abstract spiritual sense) because when a person tries so hard to cause another person suffering by way of what they verbally communicate, as Connor undoubtedly had done, it’s going to bounce back somehow. And many times in the fight industry, it just happens to come back in the form of a lose to the very person to whom the slandering was directed to begin with. Now is it all due to having lost focus? Karmic retribution? Both? I think emotions are an energy, and there is some science that corroborates this idea. Perhaps Connor’s verbal tirade presented a problem with his own emotional energies that would have a negative impact on his performance. All in, I can see “energy” being used to describe some things that are perhaps too abstract to name in particular, “focus” not being one of them. And I would question whether Connor did loose any focus for this fight. I think he had too much on the line. His whole worldly persona, perhaps his entire sense of self worth. If I empathize with him, it is difficult to imagine loosing focus of the goal in such a situation. I mean, it’s clear that Connor and his camp made serious attempts to plan for what Khabib would do. In fact Connor did some things quite well. Things we don’t usually see from him. In the end Khabib came into the UFC having understood some things that were within the realm of possibility long before, and had been committing these ideas to muscle memory long before he ever came to the UFC. Everyone else has had to play catch-up to a man that had a massive head start. Connor, in my opinion, did a lot to lessen the lead gap, but that gap was just too big. Yet with more and more effort and understanding I truly believe Connor could beat Khabib. If a fighters time were never ending, someone would eventually catch-up with the things that Khabib does. Unless he becomes like Jon Jones as one who seems to continually evolve in such a way that just when the next guy is catching up, Jon has already committed a new thing to muscle memory, and the race starts all over.

Honestly, Conor was never among the greats at 155. His greatness was always 145, where he could cut down to a skeleton and rehydrate the next day as if there was no cut. Poirier was the same size, but he wasn't able to do that at 145. It was Conor's best gift, more than his left hand. So when it came to 155, they were on equal ground, and Poirier proved Conor's 155 career really was just one good fight versus Alvarez... who also struggled in that division despite being a title holder.

@Kevan Brose Conor walked at 175 when he was fighting at 145. His walking weight is around 180 now. Dustin's is also 180. They are legitimately the same sized human beings. Khabib is a little bigger, but still a 155'er. Google Conor Mcgregor 145 weigh in and look at his face and body. It's ridiculous. Nate is bigger than them all and his face never looked that emaciated on the 155 scale.
@mauricethompson1765

You hit the nail on the head. So many people just don't realize two key points: 1: Connor's power at the higher weight class did not have the same affect on those fighters as it did at 145. 2: the weight/muscle gain he obtained for 155 sacrificed some speed as it does for most fighters when they go up in weight. His combination of power and speed at 145 was special and not seen often in fighters but his power and speed at 155 was standard. And that made him a 'standard' fighter because what else is he great at? Nothing.

@@mauricethompson1765 Agreed. He's good at 155, but so is Gaethje, Oliveira, Dariush, Chandler, Ferguson etc. Conor never had to prove his mettle by climbing that ladder. He got a shortcut to Alvarez using the 145 belt, which fooled many people into believing he was among the 155 elites.

Conor is definitely closer to 170 tops…Dustin, Khabib walk around at 185+ as do most ufc lightweights. Conor’s greatness comes from the fact that he moved up from 145 to fight at 155 and 170. Winning titles at 145 and 155 the way that he did set him apart from the rest. Those titles weren’t handed to him..Aldo dumped out and he fought Mendes on short notice waiting for Aldo. He fought Diaz at 170 on short notice when Dos Anjos dumped out with a foot injury. Losing to Diaz at 170 he fought him again in a rematch at the same weight and won setting him up for the fight with Alvarez who beat Dos Anjos. Alvarez has beaten Gaethje, Chandler, Pettis, etc…top 155ers. Aldo held the title for years. Losing to Poirier who could possibly be the lightweight champion soon doesn’t make Conor an average 155er. If we’re going to say his wins weren’t a big deal then these last two fights with Dustin were bs also and Dustin’s just an average lightweight.
