In light of the updated CDC COVID-19 isolation and quarantine guidelines, I decided to write this consecutive medical interpreting practice script. I have been following the chatter on social media from healthcare workers, in which many of them share their fears about what may happen due to these changes, and chose to write a script that reflects those concerns. In a time during which many healthcare workers and medical professionals feel like they are being ignored, my goal is to not only lift their voices up, but also share some of my own general observations as a healthcare worker following the changes implemented by the CDC.
In this scenario, Mrs. Iglesias brings her 3 year-old son (Sebastian) to the clinic where he receives occupational therapy and speech therapy. The clinic staff informs her that because her son tested positive for COVID-19 and is still symptomatic, he cannot resume his appointments until he has been symptom-free for a set period of time. Mrs. Iglesias is insistent that her son is well enough to be seen.
Please note that this script was not written by a medical doctor and should not be taken as medical advice, it is only a mock medical encounter. This content is not intended to substitute medical advice. Please speak with a medical professional regarding all issues pertaining to medical conditions and treatment.
The characters in this video are entirely fictional and their names were randomly generated. The thoughts and opinions these characters express are their own, and not necessarily thoughts/opinions shared by their creator (Kelly G. Henriquez).

You're very welcome! Oftentimes we ask providers and patients alike to speak in short phrases, but then they go and say those long sentences. Just tryin' to keep it real 😂

@@KellyGrzechHenriquez It is good to practice those long sentences for real life and for exam, then short sentences would be so easy. Thanks again!

Hey Gabriela! I post a limited amount of practice scripts and audios on my channel because I regularly produce and record content for InterpreMed (www.interpremed.com). I'm admittedly a bit of a perfectionist and while I feel comfortable speaking and writing in Spanish, I really like having a second set of ears and eyes like I do with Nanyi when we're producing practice materials there since Spanish is not my native language. My goal is to provide the highest-quality practice materials that really feel like you're interpreting for a real live interpreting encounter. I do have a few ENES practice videos on this playlist here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9mfbZ4wMsVc.html
