"Diverticulitis can be really bad, people can need part o their colon removed to the point where they need an ostomy; people can need drainage of abscesses, so there are a lot of complications," says Samantha Taghva, Hospitalist / Internal Medicine at Baptist Health South Florida.
She recommends going to the doctor if you are having any bleeding in your stool, because it could be hemorrhoids or diverticular bleeding.
