Here are the actual facts of the case: The first provision of the Daily Liar's contract says that Croder's current show (Load of Croder) would be cancelled and and he would begin producing a new show titled "The Daily Croder." But, as Croder stated in his interview with Tim Pool, that's not why he declined the offer. He declined the offer because of the clause that said Jeremy Boring would own Croder's likeness in perpetuity, and that it would be used for various intellectual properties, including a scheming cartoon hamster in one of the Daily Liar's new children's programs.

You've described a major problem with YTers; instead of focusing on valid content and quality of ideas, they pick one extreme and go with it. The motive isn't always money, but often is, and it ruins channels that might otherwise have been worth something other than the revenue. For example, in the realm of "prepping", many channels devolve into a general theme that the end of all things is just around the corner, and by watching their videos, you'll be okay. The problem is that "what is about to happen" has been about to happen for a decade or two, and the "what" keeps moving based on reality. Furthermore, if the things they talk about really do happen, those few ounces of gold you bought or that water purification system and .10 acre garden will have very little to do with whether you survive. Want ideas for the stock market? You'll find 10 people promoting the next 100X "to the moon" stocks and 10 people predicting a market crash of 80% that is "coming soon". I prefer channels that present their information as is, rationally, and without too much bias......it is up to the watcher to consume and learn, or not, and there is no shilling, click-bait, or extremism. To each his own, but I'm with Dr. Grande on avoiding putting yourself into an echo-chamber or simply seeking confirmation bias on topics you already have set beliefs in. In my opinion, everyone should have a little Mulder and Scully in them, mixed with humility and skepticism.

Nicholas Lake, I firmly believe a lot of the content creators are like pied pipers who use the same successful tactics of drawing in views. (Small minded people who don't think) look up to some of the creators while readily buying into opinions. Also narcissistic type individuals have the grand opportunity to criticize individuals & make validating cutesy comments on how clever they are in comparison with attacks on the fool target. This particular group of people are worth their weight to increase the power of the channel for the creator. This is wonderful for some while being considered as a waste of life to others.
@nicholaslake5937
@nicholaslake5937 Год назад
@@HeatherHolt I've been re-watching the series lately so the theme of examining different ideas and being open to your sense of truth being challenged was at the forefront when the topic of YTers preaching to the masses that essentially already agree with them came up. After so many years it has been fun and I'm surprised that I have forgotten so many details.
@nicholaslake5937
@nicholaslake5937 Год назад
@@helenshg4580 Yep, notice how the creators will often ask some question that they only feign ignorance to and invite people to "comment down below" because they know it may lead to a comments flame-war. Spend any time in the comments section and you'll see that although the creator's question was indeed answered (such as explaining the mechanics of stock market action vs economical data) they'll ask it again and again on the daily, simply trying to stir the pot, to rally the rubes to proclaim how the system is rigged while the other side of the aisle tells them how things work. One of my firm beliefs is that many creators are simply putting on an act and don't really care about what they say they do, instead thinking of terms of what will generate views and get people going after each other.

Just like you said, if it was about big tech, he never would have even considered an offer from DW, but he did. He didn’t get as much money as he asked for, so he turned it down, and his big complaints were about what? Money. I'm thrilled that you took the time to analyze this awful situation. The Daily Wire has every right to call him out on being grossly unreasonable. He wants his show to get paid even when they aren't making the Daily Wire money..... thats poor business and he should know that. Crowder knows how reckless he can be. He should have never signed a contract b/c he knew he would live up to the expectations. This is why it's best to leave family and friends out of business practices.

You bring up a good point that most of these commentators focus on reinforcing beliefs. Their proliferation is a byproduct of political beliefs becoming the core tribal identity in the US. Defending the correct party line is important---not doing so can cost one's livelihood. But I think that there is a more important reason; most people probably don't really believe what their in-group says that they should believe.

@asw654
@asw654 Год назад
@@nataliebolles His brand of political discourse is becoming unbearable. It's evolved into a cult of personality. He pulled the stripped bare a big section of the conservative movement for me. A lot of the things that annoyed me coming from the left I now see coming from the right. The ease of betraying friends/and family for the sake of virtue signaling ideologies (e.g. the tiktoker or whomever that trash talked her father... at his own funeral... made me nauseous). Now when Crowder does it, it's for the movement. Yeah ok. The denial of economic reality, because ideology comes first. E.g. the way Steven would casually tell a working business (that does put money into conservative causes), to just change their businessmodel, even when he later admitted on Tim Pool's podcast that he doesn't handle his own finances and knows nothing about it. He gets a pass from his fans because it's a cult of personality.

@@lynncrf A PAC is a Political Action Committee. I see no relevance in referring to one group of news media outlets as similar to PACs. There are a lot of news media organizations which are created or purchased with the full intent of persuading followers to vote politically in alignment with how the news media owners want them to vote. If someone wants to be fair, then a list of liberal news media outlets could also be listed as operating as PACs. One of the purposes of channels is to make money off contributions + advertisements etc. My personal opinion is that many of the video creators stick with narratives + tactics that keep viewers returning. I think the video content is often designed to draw in views. In my opinion Crowder & Todd & others are probably involved in the same plans to draw in viewers for money & success. Also, a lot of creates use click bait tactics to draw in views.
