Don't leave your gun in your car overnight. This should be just a temporary measure for a short time. This attack on that safe took some time. You can see the number of strikes on the latch. Thanks for sharing. Was considering buying one. Now re-thinking.
This isn't designed for an overnight gun safe people. This is oh I have to go into the court house and its day light let me throw my gun in here real quick. Give someone all night with minimal risk of getting caught then they will get into even a safe?
Sorry that happened to you, but I am glad you made the video, because I am wanting to buy a car gun safe. Have you looked at "Lock'er Down" car safes? How do they compare to the Console Vault? How are you planning on storing your car gun from now on?
I'm tempted to use the dimensions from their website and try to make my own. I'm not the best welder but I think I could make one myself, just gotta figure out a good locking mechanism
To me this product is for transport of fire arm legally. Never leave the pistol in the car overnight. Take it with you and keep it under the pillow.👍🏽👍🏽
Thats the purpose of a safe. To put stuff in it when you cant have it on your person? Would you take a gun Into a house that is not your own, in which kids are?
@@excurrahee installing a finger print reader, one could be refitted from a cheap gun vault,( or building one with Arduino) this would eliminate any surface mount locks( this also could be used in addition to OEM lock, or moving the entire lock under the lid and providing ,just access to digits and small tab to rotate lock, another one would idea would be , designing a collar that would go around the lock.
Smart choice. When i inquired as to compensation, the lawyers exact words were ; "its only a deterrant and not a safe". Yet it is advertised as a top of level safe.
Maybe add an alarm system to your vehicle as well. I have a top of the line alarm so I would at least know if someone was trying to break in or actually break in.
nope, it's called old fashion american greed. Chinese makes all kinds of steel. This manufacture just choose to cut corners and save couple of bucks by choosing the cheaper steel, instead of the more expensive quality Chinese tool steel, yeah they makes those too.

I would never leave a firearm in my vehicle overnight. This is for temporary storage only and in a situation where a thief would not have the time to do that. With that being said I do leave my car cam and some other things in there over night. But what I do is I have a wireless motion sensor drive way alert I got at Harbor Freight that I leave on top of the console door but under the arm rest. If a thief gets in my car that far he will trip the motion sensor alerting me someone is in the car. Plus it has a light on it that flashes telling the thief he has run out of time.
I saw this video and still buying a console safe. I just need to throw in some valuables while I go out and jog in the mountains. I’ve got multiple safes in my truck and only one I use.
thanks for sharing. I almost ordered this damn thing.. NOPE! That lock bolt looks like its made out of crappy hypereutectic alloy (powder metal). It looks just like a hypereuttectic connecting rod that snapped in my old Mustang engine. :(
Well for my For my circumstances, my alarm sets off calls my phone so at least it takes them some time to get through the safe, that works in my position... I’m sorry for your misfortune... but I don’t think these are made to be $1 million Vault any time you keep your firearm in your truck (I know we have to go to work) but anytime you keep your firearm in your truck you’re risking it period... it sucks
Great video, I just reached out to company regarding my ConsoleVault purchased in 2019. They “claim” lock was updated but can’t tell me when or what options are available for current owners to retrofit. Will update as I hear back.
Purchased one for a 2017 Navigator and its more of a metal lid then a vault. Tried to install and it doesn't fit. Contacted customer support via phone and email but cant get a response. More then disappointed.
Buy these safes only with the Elite 4-Digit Lock. Those with safes already installed in their vehicle without the Elite 4-Digit lock can order this improved lock and easily install it yourself.
Anybody who thinks that this is an actual safe and leaves a firearm and/or valuables in it for long periods of time should not be angry this happened. I actually agree with the Company, its a deterrent for a vehicle. Carry it or leave it home secured.
The company advertises it as a SAFE. When it gets busted open the company calls it a deterant. There are unforseen circumstances that force people to leave their firearm in their car. The video is just to let you know that the product skips out on quality AMerican steel on the locking mechanism.
@@gconstantino1659 it isnt. Screw into plastic. The entire box is screwed onto the frame of the vehicle. The knob where the combo goes in is steel with a plastic cap. What most people don't know, is the bolt locking the lid down is cheap steel. That is the weakest link. If you already bought one, I'm sorry. Like you said, you should just carry it at all times.

Solution: Leave your firearm on your hip where it belongs. Get a concealed weapons permit if your state doesn't let you carry as your constitutional rights state. Secondly, don't leave any valuable in your vehicle, thieves clearly knew what you had because they either witnessed you installing that (you may have mentioned it to someone) or they simply knew what you had (you broadcast or display it). Take your stuff in folks and keep your firearm on your hip!
US citizens don’t have Constitutional rights.. why do you think you need a permit to conceal carry? A permit grants you permission to do something that would otherwise be illegal. Only a citizen of the several states under Article IV Section 2 Clause 1 has the right to bear arms and carry their weapons in whatever manor they feel like, whether concealed or not, with no permits necessary. US citizens are only granted the privilege to own firearms. Oh you didn’t know there are two different types of citizenship in America? Sorry but it doesn’t work like that, some places prohibit carrying a gun, federal buildings for instance. So either you don’t carry to your destination or you leave it in your vehicle. In some cases you may not know you can’t carry at your destination, sad but true.

Told me to jam it. They said it is a deterrant and would not stand behind their product. Referred me to their lawyer and he said a partial reimbursment was out of the question.
I'm amazed by how many "reviews" say "oh yeah this is great" without actually testing it. Like, here we have a review that proves the Console Vault will NOT withstand even a moderate attempt to get into it. It looks like a simple no-skill attack with a hammer and crowbar. I don't expect it to keep out the Lockpicking Lawyer, but this is just sad. Of course, most reviewers never attempt to break into their own "vault" so they have no idea that it's junk, but they praise it anyway.
People need to understand this safe is not going to keep out a thief when they have time and cover of darkness and no one around. Why you kept your firearm in your truck at night while you slept in your home is beyond me. This type of safe is for during the day when you're out and about and in public with people around and you decide to go into a business for a little while or something along those lines. This safe is definitely not for storing your weapons in while you're sleeping giving the thieves ample time to work undetected. A million dollar bank volt can be gotten into with enough time and the right tools.
First things first. I wasnt at my home. I can't carry it everywhere. This vault is touted as a "safe", not a deterrent. This video just gives my experience of using this product. Judging by your comments you probably work for consolevault, own their stuff, or do part time work as captain obvious. Of course its not there for full time storage, sometimes you can't carry it on your person for whatever reason. Point is the product is trash.
@@susiervo1 Just saw this video. I had a friends vault broken into with a cordless sawzall. They just cut the cam in that gap on the front of the door and then they were able to use a screwdriver to pry the door open. That broken piece you are holding that still has the cam attached is the inner part of the lock. They apparently used a hammer and chisel to cut the lock. Obviously that's not a hardened case on the lock body.
susiervo1 true, the vault itself is not bad. You can remove that toy lock and replace it with a real lock to make the product 1000x more secure. This is like putting a $20 Schlage Home Depot lock on a million dollar mansion.
most likely not since it was locked in a vehicle safe that was mounted to the vehicle. Same with a stand alone safe that has been tethered to the vehicle.

This product did what it was supposed to do, it’s not supposed to be an absolute solution… The product did what it was supposed to do… Where were you? Where were you doing all the beating and pounding and noise that it took to break into that safe? The safe did it’s job by and large, it’s not supposed to be an absolute product
Thanks for your response Keith. The safe is/was touted as the most secure available. Its not advertised as a deterrent. I can't take a gun into a home (thats not mine) with kids overnight without securing it. My truck was parked a block away. Now, do you any intelligent, non emotionally charged questions? I will be putting your opinion in the circular filing cabinet.
Why in the world would you leave your firearm in your vehicle overnight?? That is absolutely NOT what this is intended for. This break in took some time and effort, so the safe did it's job by making them work for it, but nobody came in time to catch them in the act; no safe is theft proof. The theft your firearm is 100% your fault for leaving it in there overnight. Not trying to preach to you, just sayin. I use the safe in my Taco almost daily, then again, mine is a 21 and the damn thing talks to me through my phone; like a needy little bitch letting me know she's ok every 10 minutes LOL. I see that this vid a few years old; hope you got everything sorted out. Lesson learned?
