Thank you so much for this video and especially for mentioning about the console plug. Biggest question I had about it but never could find an answer. I'm glad they decided to make a decent safe for older model Tundras.
Toying with this purchase myself, but am holding out because I will be selling within the next few years to upgrade to a newer Tundra, hoping the TRD Pro gets remade within next few years while I wait. Good review though and an excellent fit for sure.
Great video man. Really like the inside the vault camera trick. I may have to try that. I got a little creative with camera angles on my Condor Elite Backpack review. I loved using all the different angles and will be using more creative ideas in the future.
ever check out 1/2 sized one? I'm torn between the two. Full one seems more secure but 1/2 gives you more and easier use for console not needing a safe-type security (food, papers).
So glad I saw this. I also work in Atlanta and just had two pistols stolen out of my truck. Huge bummer and major hassle obviously! While I was working on a film set. Apparently these crooks look for film sets and target trucks knowing some of us have guns. This is the perfect solution after looking at several car gun safes. Ordering one tomorrow!
Kilo 3 - 1 I can’t carry on a TV or film set. I’m a cameraman. In fact most studios have very strict policies against firearms on set. So when I’m at work I often have to leave in truck. Unless I’m filming in the ghetto or something. Then I may just sneak in backpack. I did get a storm talking to once when carrying on ghetto location once. Not always possible to carry.
I'm curious about quick access? Can you keep it unlocked, yet closed while driving?Unfortunately, the extreme version isn't available for my 2006 Yukon.
Just had my snap safe stolen out of my ranger... nothing in it... but I think this will be a lot better in my F-450... not a lot of options for the ranger lol
Yeah, they'd have to spend significant time and do significant damage to the console, to remove this one. A brute force attack on the lock might yield quicker results.
Looks like the money on the locker was well spent. At this point I'm sure the money you would've spent on a new truck has gone to ammo, training, add'l firearms and other goodies.
a few reasons. • the key is just another thing to keep track of. • if it's on my keyring, then i have to take it off for valet. • if i'm driving, and the vault is locked, then i can't get into it without removing key from keyring. • with the combo, you can secure the lid without locking the the vault. with the key, you have to lock it to keep the lid down. Overall, the combo dial just seemed much easier. They have a digital lock on some models. Hoping they'll adapt that to mine soon.
HarleyWood23 I just got a new truck and have this product on my wish list. I think I’m going to go for the Abloy lock as I would guess the combination lock is probably the weak point, and the digital lock is crazy priced. With that being said tho, I def would say you made a good point on the valet, honestly never thought of that. Then again, I rarely deal with valet parking. Maybe a couple times a year if that. So I think I’m still leaning towards the Abloy key lock, but that’s just me. Thanks for the vid.
Bought one for my 2012 F150 and was a little disappointed that they didn't include a complete enclosure. Ordered another one for my 2017 Navigator and I cant believe they market it as a "vault" Al I got was a lid with a lock, and it doesn't even fit. Called and emailed and still not response. Thinking of designing and selling my own brand at this point.
Ford Consoles are bigger at the bottom than the top, so the safe must be assembled inside the console. Furthermore there are no factory mounting hole inside like GM and Toyota, so they cannot be bolted down.
Down Town Atlanta not the greatest of areas, come on man! Next your gonna tell me Detroit and Newark, NJ are no good zones. What's the World coming to?
Sooooo, you added a Borla exhaust, side mount step bars and what else?. But you didn't want to take a chance on spending $2-300 on a console safe? lol, _priorities!_ ;) -
Lost me on the combo lock. The 4 digit lock is so easy to pick open just guessing. The power plug inside is nice if you need to charge a phone and want to leave it in the vehicle.
@@HarleyWood23 I am unsure of how much more secure that is, but it must be better than the four digits. I have personally picked those four wheel locks and I always get in. I never trust them anymore.
@Jake McCoy is right but I am going to add this that's what i was thinking, the only time someone would have time is if the truck was stolen. otherwise, anyone would just look at it and leave. lol
HarleyWood23 I have the same safe love it. Only wish I got the upgraded keypad. Dial one is not good for my eyes or speed. Can I upgrade it after I have it installed?
Tks for the vid. Just got one for my Silverado. Seems people always have to bitch about something in RU-vid land. Oh liberals, oh music too loud, oh the motorcycle is loud. Let them try a video. Tks again.
