I don't know how you guys think of these set-ups before getting into the game but they're always great The lack of music on Genesis just kills it, that's a deal-breaker

You should check the Euopean (PAL) box art. It destroy's both of these two.

There is no sound in the Sega Genesis version?! Something tells me that someone got fired because of that xD And damn, never played the Super Nintendo version and now this makes me want to try it. It's like a different new and cool game!

I remember the SNES version because of the training mode. also the music of the SNES version can be found in of Arsys's soundtrack CDs. Also in my opinion the best version of the classic Prince of Persia is the remake called Prince of Persia Classic.

This day was almost perfect because of Avengers: Infinity War, now thanks to you guys... It is now Perfect.

Prince of Persia (on the SNES, mind you) is the reason I got into all cinematic platformers like Another World, Flashback, and Blackthorne. Such great games! :)

great episode! despite owning a genesis back when and being a big fan of the original game, had no idea PoP was brought to the Genesis. very cool I grew up playing this on MS-DOS - and we didn’t have a sound card, so I was left with just the bleeps and blips of the PC speaker. to me, any kind of bg music just doesn’t fit! same with Wolfenstien 3D and Commander Keen. i’m not even sure what their soundtracks sound like! haha. aaaaand now I feel old. 👴🏻

The added music thing is actually what i really enjoyed about another world on megadrive. The remastered one was great but i miss the music i know it wasn't originally there (same with original prince of persia) but like the snes pop it just added a whole lot more. On that (wait not sure) if another world/out of this world is also on snes too as megadrive (also sparkster megadrive/genesis vs snes).

Watched this on Patreon the other day but watched it again this morning, Loved it. Also like Aces little cameo haha. I had prince of Persia and still do on the MegaCD/SegaCD, great game. After this vid i noticed that its a mix of both the Snes and Genesis version. It has the look of the genesis yet has the menu and bosses of the snes and ofcourse that snazzy segaCD music. Great game, great vid guy ;)

The reason for genesis and mega drive differences is because mega drive version was released later, and because of that they had more time to add, change or fix stuff. This is somewhat common in European versions(and re-releases like for example ps1 platinum/greatest hits versions, spyro 3 on ps1 being one notable example). They probably were planning to have music and whatnot in genesis version, but didn't have time to implement it in before the deadline, but since the MD version came out later, they added them in.

Its always oddly satisfying if Dan says "Are we doing this?". Great sketches, humor and entertaining. The comparison itself with all the details is also always fun to watch. Really miss those videos from you guys.

You know, I am surprised that you didn't cover presentation in European Mega Drive version of the game, since its cutscenes there actually move.

Check the pal SNES box art next time as well. Might influence the presentation challenge :-p

That ending :) I heard Mechner wasn't fan of Genesis version, due to dark cutscenes. SNES version was slightly censored from Super Famicom verson (No torture scene at intro, and missing pentagrams on some stages)

8:04 - In Sega's box-art, the Prince is a white blonde, while the guard being killed is Persian. LOL! Trust me when I tell you this, lack of sound brings a level of spookiness and tension for the player. Soundtrack is good for people watching, but the lack of it actually makes it scarier for the player, at least in this game.

How is a static image better than an ingame cutscene, especially in a game whose main selling point is the realistic character animation? No matter how good the image looks, it is still static.

I think both are pretty good. Butt the presentation is a tie in my opinion because the box arts are both misleading.
