@McNinja200More like the nerds would complain about it anyway. It could literally be everything everyone could possibly want and they'd still find a reason to complain.
Companies can never agree on which side wins in the story when it comes to crossovers. They more importantly cannot agree on profit share either. You’d think it would be 50/50 profits, but that’s only skin deep. They’ll argue on who’s onscreen more and which studio put more money and time into the project. You’d think they would agree that RoboCop wins because he does so in the RoboCop versus The Terminator comic that the game is based off of, but movie studios rarely respect comic book source material. They’ll write a screenplay that shows what they want to show. There was almost a Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter video game in the 1990s, but the deal fell apart for these same reasons.
I'm a staunch SNES man and I still think your assessment on this one hit the nail on the head. I will say one thing about the SNES game - it has one awesome box.
@miamimagicians magician miami Obviously *they're* inspired by AVGN, but they have their own original feel. Like AVGN meets buddy comedy. And let's face it, AVGN hasn't been good in a long time.
Avgn is a nintendo fanboy.. so his channel is based just on that content, it has reviews of other consoles, but mainly snes and nes, and I don't think he's better or funnier than these guys.. He's just not that great, and his channel is overrated. Just my opinion..
This was the easiest fight for the Genesis, you can,t go wrong with the Sega version of this game, just put the cartdrige in your system and hear those machinegun shots when the title screen appears is the best thing ever. And then the blood and violence, with hostages and lots of killer robots... yeah, this are the games when you understand that the Genesis is a badass and the Snes is a children toy.
When I was a kid I rented the SNES version of this game. Years later I came across the Sega game and my mind was blown at how much better it was. The SNES game looking back was fun, but the Sega game really stood out in many more ways. Also when Greg was quoting "Robocop" in Arnold Schwarzenegger's voice, I kind of wonder what it would've been like if Arnold played "Robocop". That'd be crazy! 😀
Another small nod to the Genesis version over SNES is the actual story to me. The SNES version's is really grim, as it basically allows Judgement Day to happen anyway, despite the resistance's efforts to prevent it early on in that game. Meanwhile in the Genesis version, Robocop wisely averts the same mistake he made in the SNES version by traveling through time to effectively prevent Judgement Day and save humanity, putting us on a new timeline altogether.
I'm usually biased towards SNES, but everytime I watch your videos and see a game that is better on Genesis I'm happy. Only because its easy to count SEGA out on alot of games, but you guys look into the details I'd otherwise looks past. Keep up the good shit dudes!
What the hell have you been playing? I owned them both when they were current (still do). The Sega Genesis had tge absolute best gaming line up and beat Nintendo soundly every year these machines were out. Nintendo claims victory as Sega stopped producing Genesis consoles before Nintendo; However, when Sega quit they had a commanding lead in sales for a reason. The Sega Genesis can literally brute force every title on the Snes and play them. Its been proven with a stock Genesis running both Star Fox and Wolfenstein without any specialized hardware. Another misconception is that the Genesis sound was weak. Fans have made a proper sound codec for Street Fighter Championship Edition (it runs smoother and faster on the Genesis and is still used today for tournaments) that makes it sound arcade perfect on a stock Genesis. Mortal Kombat 3 finally shows what a Genesis can do in the right hands, literally destroying the Snes version. Lets look deeper...Every genre defining game is found on the Genesis. Best shmup is Thunder Force IV (best 16-bit graphics by a mile ever), Streets if Rage 1+2 easily bests that single player garbage on the Snes, Mortal Kombat 3 is the best fighter for the 16-bit hardware, and finally Virtua Racing destroys and I mean utterly walks all over anything with the weak FX chip inside. We barely played the Snes at my house. The only games that tge Snes truly excelled at was the RPG. Final Fantasy 3 was and still is amazing easily beating Phantasy Star 2-3 and while winning against Phantasy Star IV its alot closer.
Battletoads Double Dragon would be a pretty good one. They play similar enough, but of course, sound wise and presentation, they have their differences.
I can't believe on the Sega Genesis they didn't mention the hooker code lol! Instead of fighting typical renegades you fight even sexier looking chicks, plus the awesome blood animation! The Snes version is good 2, but not on quite on par with the Genesis version here!
I had the genesis one when I was little and I always thought it was the superior version as well. Loved the gore and was super fun to play. Good review guys!
On a side note, not only does the Master System version of RoboCop Vs Terminator have AMAZING title screen and 1st level music, it's actually a competent port with many frames of animation for Murphy, solid control and overall fun. But at least check out that intro music
Yeah, I remember playing both the SNES and Genesis versions at the EGM Tour at my mall during the early 1990's. The Genesis version just plays a lot better for this respective game.
Thanks guys... Well The Arnold impressions is as good as the SNES game... I remember Robocop vs Terminator back in the day and it had a greater hype on the Genesis....I tried in once and it was fun but I never owned the game... It looks like Sega wins as usual! I will celebrate this victory with putting on my Arnold is numero uno t-shirt......Speaking of shirts...I'm thinking about buying a Sega-shirt on ebay......Sega is Numero UNO! Next mission...Pitfall?
One fun fact about the soundtrack: Tommy Tallarico was the music and FX director. This is the same guy that did all the music for Demolition Man, EWJ:SE and EWJ2 among other soundtracks.
Both games are good, but the Genesis game is by far the better of the two. That soundtrack is just badass! Plus, the blood, control, and presentation just kills the SNES version.
I really like your guys channel, you guys got some internet gold. Hope you guys blow up one day. Too bad there is only so much you can do. I had a great idea for a video the other day but I'm sure you guys are on top of it. thanks for the laughs
A smashing episode as always, guys! Geez I can't believe how radical you guys are. My new favorite channel on all of RU-vid. Thanks for all your awesome hard work and I can't wait for more!
I've owned both versions and the Sega version wins by a mile for me on this one. Besides the censorship issues, it just controls better. Robocop looks digitized and in the SNES one, he has a cheesy black outline on him. There's also a code for a more graphic death and for female enemies. Great game!
I really enjoyed the Snes version.... now watching this (what 20 years later), I feel cheated. The sega version looks like you took the Snes version and mixed it with a little Contra flavor.
11:34 convenient* Funny thing is when I was younger I used to misspell it almost the same as in this video, and then I committed to memory that "ven" is a part of that word and it helped me remember the part I always messed up, lol.
The Burnette dude looks like a small version of mac from always sunny in Philadelphia. And the blonde dude looks like a small version of the wwe wrestler Christian. subbed lol
LOL RoboCrack XDD After looking back at previous comments from previous videos about the Next Video Hint, I have a VERY good hunch on what the Console Wars episode is :3
I played the SNES version and came to an aerial HK unit in the factory... it was IMPOSSIBLE to beat. I swear. I have shot out everything I got on it, and it never went down.
Fantastical fun episode guys!^^,) You are great video makers and that game is so awesome! On Sega MegaDrive version is a cheat code. Enter it and all enemies becomes bad girls like in SNES. Sega's girls more sexy;D
I recently went through these both and the Genesis version did not have cut scenes and misses colors in some places but it's still better. The SNES is slow.
back in the 90s, i ve played first the sega version, later the snes one let me disapointed...with the sega "spirit" version and the snes hardware the nintendo could be a way better version
Yeah to be honest I never played the SNES version until recently and I was really left disappointed by it. The SNES is the more powerful of the 2 consoles so you would of thought that version of the game would of been way better but SEGA got their version of the game spot on perfect in my opinion.
Yes that is all well and good but not everyone has the same taste in games I mean to me the only two there that you mentioned that is anywhere near a great game is Streets of Rage 2 and Gunstar Heroes the rest were nothing special but that is just my opinion. For me both Consoles were great and both had their fair share of brilliant fun games to play.
Well, you guys are right about one thing: The Robocop reboot's not as cool as the original Robocop, but it's not as bad as it could've been. At least compared to the other reboots/remakes of other 80's movies.
Hey nice Arnold Schwarzenegger impersonation, probably just as good as mine as well. Also this was a very good way to educate about the second Console War that transpired during the nineties. ^_^
You guys should DEFINITELY do Primal Rage. I'd like to see the skit associated with Apes and Dinosaurs fighting. Also, Batman Forever. Because...yeah, why not?
As a kid who grew up with a Genesis, loved Terminator and Robocop, and who was aware of this game when it came out, I don’t know HOW THE HELL I never played this game or sought it out.
+Console Wars OK Console Wars I consider myself pro SNES,but the SNES Robocop Vs Terminator game on SNES is slow and horrible(the music is better on SNES version and doesn't have the word"Terminator"stupidly repeated over and over in the soundtrack like in the Sega Genesis version)At the end of the day I'll play the Sega Genesis version with the sound on mute, but just to spite the SEGA fan base I'll play this Genesis game on the SNES with the Retro-Gen adapter since the SNES D-pad is better. Plus I'm turning on MC-17 mode with this code Pause game play and press C, B, A, B(2), C, B(2), C, B(2), C(2), B, C, B, C, A, C(2), A(3), B(3), A, C, A
(Supposed to be posted in 2015) And here’s something crazy: the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive has a lesser color palette so the Sega Genesis version of the game should look cartoony and SNES look more realistic. But no! It was a swap! The SNES looks more cartoony and the Sega Genesis looks more bloody and realistic.
Spider Man Maximum Carnage....I would love to see you try that because both games are extremely similar...Plus, mentioning Maximum Carnage for the SNES being one of the few cartridges that is RED would be kind of humorous...Plus it the only game I know of in the LJN library that's playable
Them: Sega has better graphics because it’s more realistic, less cartoonish and it has blood. It’s based off a comic book, not the films. That’s why the “cartoonish” SNES version included the comic book panel cutscenes, something the Genesis did not. For not liking cartoonish graphics, it’s odd that the blood is held up on a pedestal in this video because that’s the most cartoonish thing about the graphics in the Genesis version. Also, RoboCop 2/Cain is blue instead of silver, so you can’t claim the game really captures the look of the movie well either and that’s just one example.
***** im snes fan ,, and well genesis is great ,, thousand of times better than snes version ,, but ,, how many multi plataform games,, are better in sega genesis?? just few men ,, robocop vs tmt ,, tazmanian , aladin ,, earthworn jim 1,2 ,, but the rest snes kick ass sega genesis in graphics
nice review, what about a console wars between the most emblematic shot em ups, from sega and snes, I mean Lightening force (aka thunder force 4) vs Axelay?- Another game that would be nice to compare is the jungle book that game has similar graphics in both system but an entire diferent level design.
Mike Smith But wait, comparing the PS4 to the Xbox One is unfair, let's compare the Xbox One to the VIRTUAL BOY, AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! The Xbox One gives you headaches from all the screen tearing and framerate issues in games like Titanfall, Sniper Elite 3, etc. Xbox Underpowered, LMFAO!!!!
***** Kinda forgot about your ghostly ass comment, LMAO!! He replied, and I scrolled up and saw your comment again. So I just replied! XD So yeah, that pretty much is a party pooper, LMAO!!!
sega wins again. good. because it urks my shit when people say SNES VERSIONS WERE ALWAYS BETTER. no! no they were not. most of the time it was sega that had the better overall game in the 16 bit era
A - Zero There was absolutely no game on SNES that was better than any game on Genesis. The Genesis was and is the best 16-Bit console. The SNES couldn't compete at all.
Pixar The Great Nope. The SNES couldn't ever compete with the Genesis. The Genesis trumps it in every way. The SNES games are all garbage compared to Genesis games.
Maximillion Roivas Strongly disagree. I think the Genesis has better games overall and has a much better library. You still can't deny that SNES didn't have a strong line up as well. When it comes to multiplats 9 times out of 10 the SNES had the better version. That is just facts.
Pixar The Great Not really. The multiplats are far superior on Genesis. Here's just a very short list: Mortal Kombat 1, 2, 3 & UMK3, Lion King, Aladdin, Street Fighter series, Earthwotm Jim series, Madden series, NHL series, basically all EA Sports games, RoboCop vs Terminator, Spider-Man games and many many more. There is no game on SNES that is better than any Genesis game. I'll admit, the SNES is just a little more powerful graphically, just slightly. But the Genesis is a much more technically better game system.
Just wanted to bring this up, for those who might not have known about it. Want the Genesis version to be even bloodier? Want to put back in the SNES female enemies that were seemingly left out of the Genesis version? To take the game from an MA-13 rating to an MA-17 one, enter this rather long code after pausing the game... C B A B B A B B C B B C C B B C B C A C C A A A B B B A C A. Yeah, it's a big code, but it's worth it to get the extras that it sticks back into the game.
How about comparing the Castlevanias for the SNES & Genesis? Both are awesome, but is Super Castlevania 4 really the better game compared to Castlevania Bloodlines? I
