Every time I watch these hot dog videos I think of the old school places too. Im 68 years old. And I think of Nedicks for a hot dog and an orange drink. And there was a big walk in place which if I recall on 42nd Street. Not far from Port Authority. Always busy. Cooked the dogs on big flat tops. Mustard was in big serve yourself ceramic bowls. My grandmother would take me there when I was a child. No squeeze bottles or packets then lol.

I used to sell them on a bun also. I was down by battery park near the ferry for 35 years. I used to get 2 dollars for one. I think you ate from me, you voice seems very familiar. Great video!

Honestly... can you really mess up a hotdog? All you need is a good brand name hotdog (like Sabrett's) and some clean boiling water. I don't think it's that hard to serve up a decent hotdog. Just make sure that the hotdog cart looks clean and everything is fresh including the hotdog, buns, and condiments, and you got yourself a good hotdog.
