I really struggle. The few times I've ever gotten them in I don't struggle with getting them out, it's easy for me. But I really struggle getting them in. Today was my first time re-trying in over a year. I only got to try for about 20 mins and had to go. Did not get them in.
I recently bought monthly contacts that come in a box with 6 pcs and I don’t know if each contact is to be used a month each or if it’s weekly for each contact and a month each. Could someone please explain!
I got my lenses today and struggled putting them in for over half and hour. Then I found your video and put them in in one try, this was super helpful. This is the first time i'm using lenses so it's a bit unsettling how clear everything looks without the weight of the glasses on my face. 💗
A great tip for people who can't stop blinking: Get SUPER close to the mirror while you're doing it. Literally so close that your nose is touching the glass! It helps because your brain is expecting it to touch your eye much more than if you're further away! I massively struggled with mine until I figured that out. Fixed the blinking problem immediately!
It was my 1st time putting them just now. It took me 30 mins of trying. I was thinking of giving up and just continue wearing eyeglasses forever lol it was very hard for me
I’m a grown ass man and was struggling in their office for an hour while a little girl who couldn’t have been older than 8 came and and went after putting hers on after her third try
I would like to share my experience as a beginning contacts wearer. I went to 2 training sessions the first one was a disaster. The lens fell on the floor 3 times then I did not have my eyes open enough then I was putting it in too fast. The second training session went perfectly. You have to pull back your eyelashes along with your eyelids and take your time. You also need to have a dry finger to put in the lens or else it sticks to your finger and not your eye. Do not give up, you just need to remain calm and practice, practice, practice. Good luck to anyone else who decides to wear contacts.
As someone who pokes their eye with mascara and touches it when an eyelash is in my eye, I would think that I can do this. But I can’t. It’s annnoying!
I was struggling with my contacts. Your tip about looking down into the mirror iwas the game changer for me. I don't know why, but that makes it so much easier for me. Thank you!!
For anyone reading this. My first time it took 3 hours to put one contact in. Now it takes me like 30 seconds to put it in. Don’t worry it’s all about practice. At first touching my eye burned but now it feels ticklish. My struggle now is that I start laughing from the sensation lol
Thank you! I had my test appointment today and after an hour still couldn't get the trials in, the tech sent me home. I go back in 2 weeks to try again
Thank you! I had my first fitting today and it was so weird but when I had them in it was a whole different world! Taking them out is no problem. It was mainly putting them in.
It took me 30-40 minutes to get the contacts in and like 10-20 minutes to get it out. The guy who was teaching me seemed really annoyed by the end and I felt so bad. I have to go back in a week and I’m really scared, I hope this video helps.
yesterday i popped them in easily. this morning the right went in pretty fast. but the left kept sticking to my finger or would roll out below my eye. finally thought it was in only to lose it. found it 20 minutes later in the kitchen floor and torn. my left eye looks like i got it from a zombie now. Sooooo frustrating.
@@codyking1849 If you grab the upper eyelid correctly, then it should be impossible to shut your eye. Keep practicing opening your eyes. Before I got contacts, I put drops of contact solution in my eyes to simulate the feeling of putting on a contact. Make sure to breathe and stay relaxed. You'll get it in no time!
@@DoctorEyeHealth Oh, my problem was mostly just that I blink at the last minute and it folds the lense but I've figured it out. Now I just blink a couple times and move my eyeball around and it sits perfectly. But my problem now is that it makes me very sleepy. Pretty much ruins my day.
I am an optometrist who has been fitting contacts for forty years. This video is very good, and I share it with my patients. I Would only add, to gently slide the lens side to side a little, once its on, to get out any dust that may be caught under it when inserting.
hey i have a question , i wear only one contact per day either right or left and switch the other side the next day . will it harm me . i have been doin this for 2 years , it helps me prolong the life of the contacts and i have no problem seeing normal with one eye at a time too
honestly idk how many times i played this video in the background as i tried to put my contacts in, but its definitely not just the show of techniques here, its also the calming instructions that reassures me it's all cool and i can absolutely put contacts in
A tip: when taking lens out of the package use opposite hand’s pointer finger and then place it on to the dominant hand’s pointer finger. This will allow for proper lens direction, dry fingertip, and the the lens will stick to your eye instead of your wet finger. Try it, you may like it. :)
old account old account I just got contacts a month ago and I had asked this because I always thought they’d be thicker or harder but in reality they fell like thin little squishy gel caps, it’s totally safe to bend them like that!
Use a mirror and focus on the REFLECTION of your eye in the mirror. This way you don’t actually see the lens coming straight at your eye causing you to flinch. Also go slow.
I look a little to the right and let it glide on. I cant get close to mirrors because veins freak me out so bad I'll go into panic. Stupid anxiety. Successfully wearing contacts on and off about 30 years.
Don't look at the contact coming for you 😁. Once you have the contact on your finger and lined up, look away and press the contact to the white of your eye then roll your pupil back into place under the contact.
Do not give up. I went from not even being able to touch my eyelid to straight up being confortable putting on both lenses with slight disconfort within 4 days of trying. first it took me 30 minutes just to put the right contact not being able to put in the left one and through practice now it only takes me around 3 mins to get them both in. Key is patience and consistency. Take one step at the time.
Coloured lenses are tacky. If you’re not a teen it is even more tacky. Every iris colour is pretty. You probably just have an ugly eye shape and small/non existent eyes. If you don’t have big eyes you’re already a 2/10.
@@asmayasmin936 I guess I triggered you because you have small and non existent eyes loool you must have beaxy Prince Harry type eyes 😂😂😂 even his wife has small eyes but at least you can still see the hood.
I tried for 3 month. From july to September Now i'm using them almost everyday The first times after i have learned how to put them in my eyes i needed at least 25min for putting them in my eyes, now after 3 months, just 1min
Some tips that helped me as a beginner: 1. Keep the lens right on your fingertip for better control. 2. Always check if the lens is the right way out 3. Stand in front of a mirror, pull your lower eyelid down with your non dominant hand and keep it close to the eyelid 4. Tilt your head slightly downwards but keep your eyes on the mirror 5. Put the lens below your iris, on the white part (i noticed that it was harder to put on lenses if i try putting them directly on my iris) and once you close your eye and look around, the lens will automatically be put into place 6. When taking them out, repeat steps 3 & 4 and put your finger on top of the lens (i put it below my pupil because again if i put my finger right in front of my eye it triggers blinking) and then slide the lens downwards. Once it is down on the white part of your eye, pinch the lens and it comes out. Hope i helped!
my downfall is my eyelashes EVERY TIME. i have no issues sticking my finger all up in my eyeballs, but no matter how much i pry my eyeballs open, my eyelashes find a way to get in the way 💀
My method is to look sideways (towards my nose) and first put the lens on the white part of the eye and then slide it into place. My eyes are super sensitive and I haven’t managed to get contacts straight in like most people do. I use the same method to take them out - slide the lens onto the white part of the eye and pinch it out. Both are time savers for me personally 🙌
I see a lot of people online doing it this way too. I personally cant do it that way because I can FEEL the lenses more then and it isn't as comfortable. Is it just scary to see the lens coming toward you?
For anyone who is stressed about getting contacts, I know exactly what to do. YOU HAVE TO PRACTICE. I spent like a week before I got my contacts just touching my eye lashes, eye lids, and my actual eyes. This will make your eyes WAY more comfortable when you actually get the contacts
It worked! After trying and failing repeatedly and finally giving up, I watched the video today and successfully got both contacts in in under 5 tries. Sooooo happy. The best tips for me were 1. Holding eyelid up from the eyelashes (I was just grabbing the upper lid and not getting enough eyeball exposed to land the contact) and 2. Looking straight down into a mirror vs. head on. Freedom from glasses achieved-Thank you!!
okay I've been wearing lenses for 6 years now and I didn't know people actually straight up out it on their iris. My method to make it easy and simple (please do try this ) take your lense on your finger then look to the side so your iris at the corner of your eye (doesn't have to be at the very end or anything) now put the lense in white portion of your eye. and when you look straight ahead it'll just fit into place . You can close your eyelid after just to make sure it's "secure". This honestly is the easiest way.
Hey can you tell me this, I just bought colored lenses and opened them from packet and now can I use it directly or should I keep lenses in solution for few hours?
@@KaylaHuang-s2v NOOO, do not use contacts you bought online right away. you can get infections bc they don't use real solution most of the time. soak the contacts in real solution for 24 hours before using them
The first time I wore contact lenses was like having new eyes ,they are brilliant.little tip ,go for the daily contact lenses, much less risk of infection than the ones you have to soak and less mess.
Unless they're prescription contacts, like mine are, then, it only costs $45.00 for monthlies. I can only get the monthlies, because my eye doctor prescribed it that way.
I DID IT! I cannot thank you enough, it took me forever, but I did it! After watching your video I was able to do it. Thank you so much, I was scared that I wouldn't be able to do it.
I feel ya I have some and tried for 5 hours they just will not make connection and stay in my eyes. Mine are like working with Saran wrap I even had my wife try to put them in for me and she could not do it and has worn them for years. I told the eye doctor today I was going to need a different lens because these will just fold up in my eye and come out.
Just this morning I tortured my eye for a whole 15-20 mins and still couldn't get the contact in. Then when I got it in it turned out it was inside out. I was so pissed. I think I'm gonna dump contacts, its only my 2nd day but I can't imagine torturing myself every single day.
I started out wearing hard lenses which are not very comfortable. My eye doctor goes over a litany of do’s and don’ts concerning proper handling of your contacts. I also don’t wear them everyday. I give my eyes a rest by wearing my glasses. If you follow your eye doctors instructions you can enjoy the freedom of not wearing glasses all the time. As the good doctor says: “You only get one set of eyes. Best to take care of them.”
Thanks for saying that it took you hours when you were 13. I’m 13 and it takes me hours just to get one in and I thought I was the only one so thank you for comforting me and making it so I don’t feel so bad.
Guys I done it , once you do it a few times it's easy. U just gotta keep touching ur eye so it gets used to it. Remember you guys can use a bit of force so dont be afraid. Also wash your hands alot while doing this.
The first time I managed to put a contact lens into my eyes took me about 4 hours but I failed. Then 2 hours but couldn't get it in. Then practices more. Now I can put it in a second. Yeayyy
This really helps! I tried for the first time yesterday and it took me ages to get them in and then I couldn't get them out. Going to try again next week but I'm worried!!
The hardest part for me is always getting them to stick to my eye vs my finger. My finger is wet and my eye is dry, so they just stick to my finger. I have gotten down to about 10 minutes for putting mine in. At first it took a good 30 minutes.
Been wearing contacts since I was 13, and I don't even need to hold the top eyelid anymore, just pull down the bottom one. You get used to it! Hang in there if you're new to contacts.
This tutorial was WAY easier than the instruction I got from the prescriber. Although they were all wonderful, this method worked for me (first time contact lens wearer) and now I am a pro. THANK YOU!
That taco trick LITERALLY just changed my routine! 🌮 There's been nothing more frustrating than FINALLY getting the lens in only to realize that scratchy feeling meant it was inside out. THANK YOU!!!!🤩😍
I agree. It's a bit hard to tell when you start wearong contact lenses. Often you can't tell because of the angle you're looking at the lenses so I have to invert the lenses and compare which one is more curvier, which can lead to micro-tearing of the lenses and also sticking more debris and other contaminants to the lens. Bending the lens a little bit to see even IF the edges will curve inwards a LITTLE bit has been a life changer as a new contact wearer.
Tip: if they feel uncomfortable they are inside out. I hated putting contacts in because it always hurt but now I realize that I had them inside out. 😂😭
I have had lenses for 2 years now, but I still have problem with correctly putting them. I can easily put them, but it still takes to me several attempts until they feel comfortable in my eyes. Usually, it happens that when I put them and blink the image seems broken or when I put them my eyes don't feel comfortable, so I need to re-put them until it feels correct and comfortable.
Im never gonna get this right, i just had my contacts training today and it took 2 hours to get them in and out. And then when i took them out for the night it took like 30 minutes. It feels hopeless
That taco trick is priceless! Thank you for posting this and reminding us that it will take time and practice. I’m super sensitive when anything comes near my eyes and, like someone else already said, I feel like my eyelids are stronger than my fingers lol 😂. This is one of the best videos I’ve seen so far for beginning contact lens wearers. Simple common sense approach and valid tips. Again, thank you.
Second day. First day took 30 minutes to get in left eye. Today frustrated and quit. Went to Costco and bought a led lighted magnifying mirror and put it in in less than 5 minutes. Go buy yourself a good magnifying mirror- that’s the ticket
Looking at contacts for the first time in 16 yrs. been wearing glasses since I was 15 and I absolutely am getting tired of it. Thank you for this video, because I’m someone who hates things going in my eyes but you definitely made me realize that it’s safe and painless
@@hoshisaan thank god I've puted them successfully Well puting them was the hardest part it was so hard but after time you will find by your own the best way for you .. The scariest part was taking them out oh man I stressed out for almost 45 minutes and stressed more when I read comments when ppl couldn't take them for days at the end i've read a comment that helped me alot and took them out easily I was so proud of my self for having the courage to touch my eyes lol It will be worth and please take your time and don't stress your self if if doesn't wanna go out So this how I managed to take them off turn your head to the right and move your eyes to the opposite direction now slide your contact to the right until it's out
ive been watching this multiple times this past 2 years. and i just got my contacts now. it took me around 30mins to get it in, and the second time i tried it, it took me only a minute!! thank u for this vid!! helped me a lot.
I've been trying to wear contacts for the last couple of years. I usually struggle, give up and go back to my glasses. Thank you so much! I finally was able to put them in on the first try. 😃
I've tried this. It still won't go in. It ether just sticks to my finger or my eye lid won't stay opened and I've been trying to get them in all day. Any advice
okay I've been wearing lenses for 6 years now and I didn't know people actually straight up out it on their iris. Thank you for this! I'm so tired of wearing glasses, I've been thinking about getting contacts. But I had pink eye once and I'm really anxious about putting them in my eyes. This at least helps, though!
@@ricroy1824 I have to use hydraclear oasis brand of contacts. I can only wear then no longer than 12 hours or they dry out and I can't wear contacts everyday. I have to alternate with wearing glasses
I just got mine today, and thank god! I’m so glad my mom came with me!! We were there for nearly two hours and I had only gotten a lens in one of my eyes (at the moment the eye doctor wasn’t in the rooms). So, I looked at my mom who wears glasses and said look it could take me hours to get the second one in, could you please just put them in my eyes and say that I did it so we can finally go home? Thankfully she said yes, and it all worked out smoothly. Boy, was that a day 😂😂
As a twelve year old putting my contacts in for the first time, this has helped a lot! I have my second appointment tomorrow so I’m going to try this and see if it works! Just tried touching my eye now using the tips, and I could touch my eye so easily I hardly even felt it!
I was a grown man on the verge of a breakdown cause I’m just now getting contacts at 27 and couldn’t figure out how to get them in, I had been through 2 fitting but still needed a refresher, this got me through it, thank you!
