I needed glasses when I was 12. Started using contacts almost exclusively until I was about 16. I was initially uncomfortable with the way I looked with glasses, but I can't say I liked the feeling of contacts either. My eyes not only felt dry, but overall, just really tired after a day of use. Plus, I ultimately embraced the look of glasses on me once I was in high school and almost entirely stopped wearing contact lenses. Because of this, I was recommended to switch to the disposable contacts due to how infrequently I wear them, and that's pretty much worked out well ever since. There are rare occasions where I find it's better to wear contact lenses, like when I'm doing something that involves physical activity, or am performing a piano recital onstage. It's always nice to have options!

For example, I usually buy a case/box of 6 pairs of weekly lenses and each pair lasts me for 2 weeks or longer since I do not sleep in them and do not wear them everyday. Hello Doctor, well I've been wearing eyeglasses for about 15 years and I just got so tired of wearing them, cleaning them because of smudges daily so I recently got my first prescription contact lenses, I have presbyopia. I just love my contact lenses, yes it's hard to put them in and out but with practice I'll get the hang of it. It's been 1 week and I'm doing better because of your beginner's videos! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Blessings to you doctor for helping me and others that truly need help and advise on this important matter. Greetings from California and new subscriber!❤😊🏖

Non prescription sunglasses are the reason I chose to try contacts. I've been wearing glasses since early childhood and even feel naked without them. They're just part of my face. However, in recent years I got really into mountainbiking and as I (very slowly) progressed to more heavy riding, my precription sunglasses got scratched. I also found that proper riding eye protection with prescription lenses are very expensive compared to my regular prescription sunglasses or even non-prescription eyewear. Daily contacts just for riding are a good and cost effective compromise for me.

I’ve learned to love my glasses thanks to the pandemic. In my state, we can’t go to the eye doctor unless we actually have a disorder so a routine eye check is out of the question. I only ordered my contacts before they said that they couldn’t give me anymore contacts because my prescription was out of date. I never liked my glasses but my husband loved them and people started to give me compliments which gave me more confidence in wearing them

I’ve been wearing glasses for about 26 years. Tried contacts a couple years ago and the first pair I tried didn’t work out and I never bothered to try a different pair. Then coronavirus hit and finally after a year of wearing glasses with a mask I was fed up of the constant fog and decided I would try contacts again. Thankfully the first pair I tried worked out great. I’ll still continue to wear contacts even when I no longer have to wear a mask.

Hello there. First of all I would like to thank you for the videos on contacts for beginners. I have been wearing glasses since I was in first grade so transitioning to contacts was scary. I have really high prescription in glasses to the point that I was told I would need progressive lenses at age 20. I'm 21 and all the eye doctors I have seen pushed those expensive glasses. So when I found a eye doctor that cares, I found out the I am able to wear contacts and she helped me transition. These videos have helped me learn so much about how to take care of them and what to do if anything goes south. I appreciate the help and would love to see more videos in contacts. I prefer my contacts over my glasses because I have the freedom to wear regular sun glasses. Due to a high prescription in glasses I have been unable to get prescription sunglasses. Thank you for your help. I appreciate it. Have a good day Dr.

I am so used to contacts, one day I was on the packed crowded train wearing my glasses, and there was this beautiful scenery, so I moved my face closer against the window to see it. My glasses frame knocked hard against the train window glass, I was so shocked my body reflexed I twitched hard and taken aback it so obvious. One issue with glasses that people rarely address is the fact that a straight line or edge (say you are staring at a doorframe that is ten feet away) will bend and bow when you move your head side to side and follow it with your eye. Perhaps that is the prism effect you mention in your video? Either way, it makes inspecting cabinetry or other woodwork a little tricky.

I’m someone who has a really strong prescription and high astigmatism, and they keep getting worse slightly every year still (even though I’m 26) and have struggled with what you described there for about the past 4 years. I’m thinking of switching to contacts when I can next year and give them a shot. I know they’re going to be expensive, from what I was told, anywhere between $400 - $600 for a year’s supply worth. But what you talked about in the time stamp I mentioned earlier has even made me feel like I’m not all there, in a weird way that I can’t really explain, probably because of constantly seeing the distortion, and end up a lot of times just taking my glasses off to rest from that for a while.

Both has its pros and cons to me honestly. I've used glasses from the beginning and I'm so used to it now but because of my condition the prescription is so high. I've never liked how my glasses looks so 'thick' and definitely proves it blocks my useful side vision. 😂 The contacts gives me more control over how I look to people but because of the nature of my condition, my eyes are severely dry therefore I can't last more than a few hours in them without constantly having to rewet my eyes. I think (I have RGP lens) the costs of purchasing cleansing products and everything still total out to be high each year which doesn't necessarily justify the cost of a one time purchase glasses that can last without needing to correct them in a few years time. Having both available options to cater my needs definitely helped rather than dropping the contacts completely.

A major factor which was putting me off contacts was I thought it was be a lot more expensive than it actually was! I pay about £11 a month from my opticians (although its probably cheaper online) and I love my contacts, no more steaming up when I wear a mask! I don't even realise that I'm wearing contacts most of the time, another thing that was putting me off was touching my eyes. @@lmao3799 isn't that bad yet, It could get higher as you get older or could stay as it is. I started to use glasees at 16, I began with - 3.5 and now I'm 23 years old with my left eye at - 7 of miopia and +1 of astigmatism and right eye is - 7.5 with +0.5 of astigmatism. I'm definitely thinking about surgery now that my eyesight is more stable but for personal experience I know for sure that your prescription is gonna change up until you're 21 or 23

I’m one of those people with both astigmatism and high prescription for my age(we’re talking about -8.0 to -9.0) so I’m trying out contact lenses for the first time today. Fingers crossed they improve the quality of my vision and hopefully slow the progression of my prescription 🤞

I used to prefer contacts until I had cataract surgery. I've tried multifocal contacts after surgery as my distance correction is minimal. Now I love glasses. There are so many styles. I just ordered transitions blue flash mirrors. I love the options of different glasses. Also I have a large nose and glasses take attention awY from that. It's glasses for me.

I was wearing contacts for about 12 years. When I started spending most of my days in front of the laptop screen for work, I started getting dry eyes too often, so I've switched to glasses since, for the past 3-4 years. But I do miss wearing contacts for their freer and wider vision...not to mention the blurriness that comes from scratches on the glasses over time! I'm considering switching back to contacts, maybe at least by wearing glasses when I'm in front of a screen and contacts when I'm out and about.

A bit late but you can always combine the two? When I recently got my contacts for the first time, my optician said to make sure I don’t wear them all the time, like 6 days a week. Also, if your eye is struggling with getting dry, she also said to just not wear them that day.
@KrishnaaLakshmanan
@KrishnaaLakshmanan 2 года назад
@@samisankey3104 Incidentally, I've started wearing contacts again for the past couple of months. Before I stopped wearing them, I had switched from bi-weekly to monthly lenses. With the longer life, the thickness of the lens increases, leading to dry eyes more often. I've started with bi-weekly lenses again now, and haven't had any problems. I also use lubricant eye drops before putting them on in the morning and after removing them at night, which helps keep away the dryness. And yes, I give my eyes a rest from the contacts at least once a week. Cheers!

Apparently it's perfectly normal to feel dizziness. I started my trial with the contacts and my doctor says its because you can now see all the details more than on glasses. Example when i looked at the floor, i could see all the details compared to my glasses.

My co-worker and I were discussing this topic the other day. She wears contacts while she is working because otherwise she would have to worry about her glasses fogging up all the time. I just got my first pair of glasses. And I'll probably stick with them because it would be awkward for me to try to put contacts in and out. Each to his or her preference.

Lenses for sure! I have used lenses for like 2 months now and I think it’s much easier for me bc I use “1 use lenses” so I switch them every day. I don’t need to worry about getting dry or taking on the lense on the wrong eye bc I have the same “strength” on both lenses.

I have a moderate astigmatism that prevented me from wearing contacts for years. I hated glasses-to the point that I refused to wear them outside of the classroom and just waked around blind until I was 13 or so. I finally tried contacts at 27, just a few weeks ago. I loved them! I could see clearly, wear non-prescription sunglasses, play sports, and generally handle the weird feeling of having them on. Then I was shown the price for an annual supply of the brand I liked best. More than $700. Guess I'm going to have to find a way to love glasses for now lol

I have strong myopia and astigmatism (-5.75, -2.5), and I have worn glasses since I was 4. In college I really wanted contacts, and my optometrist said my only option was hard plastic toric lenses. Every day I would suffer dry, itchy eyes, and I would almost always get a speck of dust stuck under them and need to take them out. I gave up after 2 years and have gone back to glasses ever since.

I’ve always worn my glasses more but I also enjoy my contact lenses more so in the summer because of sunglasses. It sometimes can take my astigmatism a bit to calm down when first putting in contacts which is irritating to me, but I feel like they eventually settle and all is well.

It's such a good feeling to wake up without having to reach glasses or having to put contact lenses on and off... Plus they're not that expensive: around 100$ for a full year.
