Pat! Terrific video - both the content (awesome as always) and the giggles. Huge shout-out to your audience - your followers are especially generous with ideas and suggestions - it's always worth scrolling down for conversation. Thanks for asking for input - I always learn something! Favorite tool: for total newbies, Kajabi has made everything easier.
Too much fun in this video 😂 Thanks for watching, and be sure to leave a comment below about a tool that has helped you in your business recently. Cheers, and don't forget that you can still enter to win a "virtual coffee" with me, a 1-hour call where you can ask me anything, and also you'll get a feature in an upcoming RU-vid video, too! Been using MorningFame to help create strong ranking titles for my parenting niche channel. Been super helpful to build out descriptions and tags as well.
You can NEVER have "too much" fun! Love your videos - this one was timely for me! Thank you!!! Tools I've been using? Sadly, just Google search for keywords. :-/ So... BRILLIANT video - took NOTES! I'm in the process of getting more engaged with my audience; need to build up traffic, etc. to my almost 5-yr old blog that's still struggling with less than 100 unique visitors per day. Pathetic. LOL
100 uniques a day? I know a lot of people who would love to have 100 different people's attention every single day. Question is, what are you doing with it? I think even at 100 uniques per day you have opportunities to get to know and engage with those people. Keep 20 of them for the next day, and then you have 120.
Hey Pat - I launched the info blog in 2013 when I started vaping, as a way to help others learn more about vape devices too. End of 2016 I decided to monetize it with a Spreadshirt shop and designed t-shirts. 2017 is a blur (death of a VERY close family member). I was going to sell it during my depression; thankfully I didn't. So now, new year, a bit more enthusiasm; joined a couple of vaping groups on Facebook so I'm getting some encouragement there. But the traffic nose-dived to less than 40-60/day because I hardly did anything with it all of last year.. I joined a couple of affiliate programs; so far just have banners on the sidebar. I want to get a new blog header graphic made and change the domain name to fit more what the blog is about. I have 114 subscribers on my list but I'm only getting 3-5 opens and 0-1 click-throughs. So I have a lot of work to do. But the vaping industry is on a steady rise, so I don't want to miss out on any opportunities. I think that about sums it up. LOL
Lisa, you hit it right on the money, there are 2 ways on doing this telling people how to become rich and charging them, or teaching them how to free and receive revenue from advertisers and other methods giving options to your audience. Smart guy Pat and admirable.
I confess to being sceptical about your move into RU-vid but was highly impressed with this video - useful, informative, fun, and well produced. I'm looking forward to the next one now. Excellent work Pat.
i generally don't comment on RU-vid videos.. but after watching this I'm just mesmerized and can't stop myself from thanking u... 😊... you're just awesome.. please keep making this awesome videos..it's really helped a lot... thank u... ☺️
Another great video Pat. Shooting targets thing makes it more memorable (to find again). Since you started on RU-vid you have expanded into people's homes where before you may just have been part of their commute. Keep up the great content, creates more value than you know (by people creating value from these tips).
Omg so glad I watched this video. I knew about the site answer the public back when I had my first blog I'm 2016 but couldn't remember it and hadn't bookmarked it. So glad you brought it up!! Many thanks!
Thank you so much for this excellent video!! I like the way you make things very understandable and very clear :-) Right now, I'm struggling with focusing and beginning with an online business. And this video was a great help to make things clear.
Right now, I'm in the learning mode - working through the 123 Affiliate program. For Tools, I use WordPress with the WooCommerce app that is integrated into my Infusionsoft customer management tool. I inherited these and am working to identify potential replacements to 1) simplify my processes and 2) reduce my costs. The best tool I am using right now is an excel file of improvements that I need to make that are ranked based on level of effort (1 = easy to 3) and expected impact (1 to 3 = major). I then prioritize into the following priority categories (1 = easy + major impact; 2 = easy + moderate impact or moderate effort + major impact; 3= easy + minor or moderator + moderate or hard + major; 4 = moderate + major or hard + moderate; 5 = hard + minor impact). This helps me schedule and focus on the biggest bang for the buck.
Great video! Thanks so much, Pat! I use Facebook Groups, but a little differently than you mentioned. I simply tap into the conversations or even start conversations asking specific questions to learn more about the areas where people are struggling or need help. Also, on my website, once someone joins my online community, I specifically ask them to fill out a form to help me learn more about them. One of the questions is about the 3 biggest struggles in their life right now related to my business. That has really given me insight, but like you said, nothing beats sitting down with someone. So I've been scheduling time to Skype/FaceTime people in my community who are willing to share their struggles. Still in the middle of it, but really useful!
Thank you Pat for such a helpful video. This is a road block, faced by bloggers and your youtube video serves as an eyeopener for some one like me,who is a toddler in this business of blogging and learning the nuances of this trade .
G'Day Pat. Superb video, my friend. I have found that I really understand the higher concepts of marketing and behaviour, but until you tell me what to do, I'm just a big know-it-all with nothing to help people with. This video gets me moving in the direction of helping others to get what they want from me. Thank you. love alwaz mike
Trello for social media content management- the free one works like a treat for batch posting and Remember the Milk for task and project management. Awesome video, just what I needed when I needed it. I'll be putting most of that in my social media strategy plan :)
I loved this Pat! thank you! I just started following you and you have already helped me with my 20-year-old Crochet Design, instruction and publishing business. (I loved that you used knitting as an example) The tool that makes the biggest impact in my business has always been Email - but youve given me a new fresh idea to gain content ideas!
Your videos are awesome!!!! Very easy to follow and It keeps me engaged as I’m learning strategies to improve on my own business. Thank you!!!! Much respect
Hi Pat! Man, just when I decide to take a few steps back and focus on why my content isn't getting any traction you come out with this awesome video. Many show you what to do...you show us HOW to do it. Thanks again for this very useful content.
I had fun watching this video! Great content! I knew about the buzzsumo but not the other ones so definitely going to apply this information. Thanks again.
The type loss I experienced back then, I didn't know that I will recover it all. Austin James made it to come through my special gratitude goes to you sir.
This video is awesome, I learned of answer the public and it's going to be amazing. Real actual advice in this video, not just the same rehashed info that a lot of videos and blogs repost.
I love this! 3 minutes in and I learned a game changing site! If I know what people want then I just need to focus on my content and thumbnails(really need to work on those).
Love the answer the public tool, has been really helpful in planning a content calendar! Keep up the great work Pat, really helping me push on with plans this year!
Hey Pat - super tutorial. Nice to see you over here on RU-vid. Andrea Vahl and I are the Co-Founders of Social Media Manager School and this video is being linked up in one of our Business Building Modules as a resource. Andrea and I are big fans of yours and have often joked about how we should have written a book on Knitting instead of Facebook - lol :-) so it was fun to see you use that as an example.
Fantastic video! I never ever had such a great video precisely teaching how to plan about content creation. I'm luck to stumble upon this video. I wish to give 10,000 likes for this Great Snipper "Pat Flynn".
As always, a value-filled, evening robbing (in a good way) video. Thank you. On the most basic of levels I have found Canva and SocialPilot to be incredibly useful. I don't do anything social media related without those two as part of my core set of tools.
Awesome job as always Pat!! Answerthepublic and RU-vid forensics?? You weren't kidding when you said 'sniperlike'!! Thanks as always :) Love from Bangladesh
Wow. I learned something in all five tools. Tool #1 was new to me. Definitely going to start trying all of these. I also use Google trends, Reddit, and Etsy for trending products.
As always, grateful to receive great value from your videos Pat. My tool that guides both my personal and professional life is yoga practice. Keeps me calm and centered and connects me to the wisdom of the cosmos!
Several great ideas that I'm adding to my content development routine. Thanks! (note from a military guy: Trigger Discipline! Keep that finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot!!) One thing I do is look on Quora - you can search for questions that people are asking by keyword, then look for questions that have a high number of followers as a measure of general interest.
I'm new, new to the entrepreneurial space. I appreciate the info but I don't have any tools/apps to contribute right now. As part of this community I have a feeling that would change real soon. Thanks to everyone for your comment contribution.
I have been following you since 2009 even way back in the ehow days :) I used to write for the Writer's Compensation Program at ehow like you. I love your content and I used to follow your blog heavily. I plan to read some of your recent blog posts and listen to your podcasts. Thank you so much Pat for helping us.
Thanks for sharing the askthepublic site and the buzzsumo site. I haven't used these before. Great ideas as always! Thanks Pat! (and nice aim with that nerf gun!)
Pat! You did it again! Yeah yeah I said one of your other videos was the best and most useful ever but I take it back. THIS one beats that other one! Solid useful information here! I like to think I’m pretty good at coming up with on target content for my readers but these tools you provide here will definitely help me kick it up a notch! In fact this is so very good and can provide such an advantage that I almost want to keep it to myself! 🤣 I’ve been following your podcast and RU-vid for a while but this one finally made me hit the bell. Bravo and thank you!
As per your call to action Pat: a set of tools that I've found useful; XMind - for mind mapping, I use iThoughts (which can open XMind docs) on iOS connected to Dropbox so that I can work on the same mind map either on my laptop/desktop, or on the go on my phone & tablet.
Great valuable video Pat! Got some really great pointers I never thought of. Thank you! [Except one tool I found was waaaaay too expensive to even consider]
Wow. Thanks Pat for this great video. Three of the five tools were completely new to me and I'm going to test them today. The tool I use most recently is Buffer, to manage my social media presence. It took me some time to get used to the way it works but now it's a dominant tool in my arsenal. To search my market I use also Google Ad words to find the words people look for the most. Works fantastic. Thanks again. You are a gem! ;)
Good ideas. I am going to try them for the websites I already have up. I have been looking through youtube videos and finding the people I trust to learn from. You were recommended by ODI Productions, I like Odi.
Just wanna say somethinng pat: This video was so eye opener for me because up untill today, I was just like you on minute 1:33, thanks for sharing man!
A great tool that I use (and only recently figured out how to use) is Aegisub to make subtitles in English and other languages for our RU-vid videos so that our content can reach a larger audience. Pat, I know you've recommended Rev.com in your podcasts, so I might give them a try in the future, but as of now I actually enjoy doing it myself and learning the process of it.
Wow...this video was fantastic. I did not know about the answer the public tool and it's so useful! Thanks, Pat! 2 toosl I've been using recently is Data Studio in google and Canva for makibng graphics
