This video is one of a series of short films we have created in order to help those of you working through crochet patterns by Jane Crowfoot.
This video explains how to work a contrast colour crochet bobble. The abbreviation for making a bobble is MB in both UK and US terminology.
All tutorials use UK terminology.
UK dc = US sc
UK tr = UD dc

I know there hasn't been any new videos lately but I have to say how happy I am to come across these videos from Janie. Wow! It's truly like a gold mine for me. I'm just trying to learn crochet and actually haven't physically crocheted yet. My first hook comes tomorrow in the mail but I watch so many crochet videos that I dream crochet all night long. Janie's designs/color choices and quality speaks with my soul! I was searching you tube for crochet blankets hoping to find some of janie's style blankets and nothing came up even close. Finally I decide to search her name and viola! This!

I think everyone wants to know how to hide the green leftover wool from the bobble. If we don't find out, no green- bobble blanket ! What l would do, l would weave as much of the green yarn into and throughout the bobble to secure it, then any excess yarn, l would stuff into the hollow of the bobble, making the bobble strong, rather than flimsy. Has anybody other suggestions ?

How do you weave in the ends?

You didn't mention....Do you cut at the end on of each bottle and weave the ends in or do you pick up the yarn again for the next bobble?

I know right? why didn't she mention it. Hopefully she sees these comments! :) Love her work. I am guessing that if this is not a reversible pattern it could float, but I am surprised she didn't just carry the yarn, hiding it in. Although doing that looks too thick sometimes and sometimes you can see the colored yarn through the tube. My guess is that she weaves them into each bobble and joins new yarn each bobble ? I have no idea lol .

Could you tie a double knot at the back of the bobble and cut the ends? Have a small tie on the back instead of a yarn carrying to the next one?

Is there a reason for not simply carrying the green yarn as you make the white stitches?
@pandapower5902
@pandapower5902 3 года назад
my guess is because sometimes you can see the other yarn in bits here and there, and also it changes the thickness
