Part 1 of a series of short videos charting my progress painting and modelling the Union Brigade for Black Powder. This part deals with painting the horse using Citedal contrast paints to make the job quick and relatively painless.
Hi .. I got some of the Gore Grunta recently for my Yeomanry horses. I already had some horses painted as bays but wasn't happy with them so i gave them a coat of GGF. AMAZING... the depth of colour i got was amazing. I have also done some with the Seer spray and GGF these look great but not as deep as the brown base colours. Loving the way the Contradt paints work ... this is the way to go for me now.
nice ! i haven't tried them on horses yet but good to see the Contrast Paints work very well . i've started doing a light drybrush of Deck Tan on everything since i saw one of your videos a few weeks ago , great tip ! now i want to see you do the Scots Greys with contrast :)
Haha have been thinking about doing an extra one for the Scots Greys. Nice one on the deck tan, the real trick is making it an incredibly light drybrush otherwise it makes the model look like it's been dragged through wet clay 😀
Cheers mate, well there will be two more units to support the 12 guys in this one. May have to mimic history and get those lancers done so they can chase them off 😀
Very interesting and useful video. I think you’ve sold me on them. Looking forward to seeing the rider now. I detest painting cavalry also, so anything that speeds them up is a winner.

Great work . I feel contrast paints are a lazy option. But seeming I hate painting cavalry I think having a small collection of contrast paints is a good idea. I do plan on getting some in sometime.
