I was aware about playing for retake, stalling and holding the site, but I was never thinking about it in depth and it's first time I hear about flooding. And now I wonder when to use which approach? I can assume that I should hold the site as a default approach, especially when there are two or more ppl defending the site, play for retake if they push hard and I'm unable to either hold or stall them, and stall when I'm anchoring (I can't think of any scenario for the fast flood). I know it's probably more nuanced, but is it somewhat a correct way of thinking about how to defend the site? And when fast flood can be useful?
@@Woohoojin Thank you, just as I thought. From now on, I'll make it a more conscious decision, because I was just following a hunch on what to do, but in the end I was choosing randomly most of the time
I would suggest planning these methods based off your agent and weapon choice. Like if you're on an eco and playing shorties you want them to come into you, you don't want them to go to the other site. So you'd want to play a hold rather than a stall. If your team 4 stacked the other site, I'd suggest looking to play a stall and run away into retake if they force it. If your team has breach or killjoy ult, playing retake is often a good option since those ults make retakes much easier, etc.
For me I often unknowingly fast flooding when I have certain ult on certain agent at certain map. E.g Breach on Fracture and Ascent. I think certain map like pearl and fracture are easier for these kind of play while others like Icebox is darn near impossible for these kind of play. Or maybe it's the limitation of solo Q. Ideally blitz retake like this need to have good team. I just cheese it with stun instead
I'm and immortal 3 peek the most common time for fast floods I find is on force or half buys where you gamble stack a site and play retake on the other you call to flood out when bomb is plant for example you could be on a site ascent you smoke off main when you hear the enemy push out and as soon and you hear a bomb plant you send 3 out of heaven with a flash and 2 out of door before plant goes down playing for a pick on plant close door and hell
This was genuinely so insightful, sometimes what we see as "bad usage" of utility (such as a less deeper smoke, or a smoke with purposeful cracks) can be used to influence our opponent's next moves. We can then try to read into the enemy's ability usage and try to read what they want for us to do as well.
I just recently discovered you and it's amazing how clear and comprehensive your explanations are. Like it's funny because I know over the years how a good teacher is someone who's able to explain a concept simply and easily, but I'm still surprised every time I encounter it. I feel like I don't understand Valorant, or most FPS games, at all. I'm plat but if you did a vod review of my gameplay I could never explain the reason for practically anything I do. I'm just hoping for the best every round and making abstract/impulsive decisions. This is such a breath of fresh air and I can't wait to watch more of your stuff. Just subscribed and I'm only subbed to like..
and yet impossible when you play it!!! so many things go through my head that ultimately I fail to do even one important thing and just end up partaking in basic aim duels loool. Peaked Ascendant last act but I feel like I'm oversimplifying the game for me..
You know I would love to read their usage on util (I do sometimes) but it's hard in gold lobbies where people just throw willy nilly (from what I've seen)
It might sound dumb but I didn't even realize that us controllers use smokes for different situations... and of course the converse is true when fighting against a controller's util. I would only use smokes sometimes based on what I thought the enemy would do, but didn't deeply consider that the enemy could respond to my smokes and predict the strength of my site hold. Not sure if in my elo that people have that intuition yet, but I'm a knower now either way!
omg im an omen main who's still learning a lot about the game cuz I'm relatively new and this makes SO SO SO MUCH MORE SENSE????????????? WOOHOOJIN JUST WHAT ARE YOU
Thank you I’m a controller main and I throw smokes for retake to give us either a way onto site or stall the back site take. My teamates always get upset Bc the smokes aren’t in the default spots like main entrance or something like that even if we know no one is there. Always the duelists just push through my smokes instead of taking control of what they are for first. Even if I tell them they say well we need to fight site but I feel clearing to the site is important to eliminate back stabs.
i have watched all coach in yt tbh you're the first person that explain so clear and i understand that make me learning now im iron 3 to silver 3 in 5 day right now . My questions is i have my confident in my crosshair place ment but i have ploblem that sometimes when im peeking with strafing if i didnt hit my first after that i will be like whiffed for a whole time if i strafing like 2-3 time when fighting i can shoot perfectly in the head but if i strafing with the same enemies like 4-6 times my recoil and my aim will be very bad and uncomfortable can you tell some tips or how to manage it (sorry for my bad grammars) love your video keep it up
If you want to cure that habit in the shortest amount of time, you can spam deathmatch every single day and prioritize practicing that component, but really though, it's just a matter of fact that your new, give it a few more months of constant grinding and it'll naturally fix itself
What a great video, I'm an astra main and I will be using some of these tips a lot. It felt so good when you explained that one smoke to retake b site from ct that I also use.
In my opinion, controller is complex role but not hard. Your job is not to push but to support and to be available for your team, you are not going there to push your own smoke by yourself, and most of the time your blind is for supporting your team more than to use it for yourself. It just frustrating when the team have their own intention or in wrong placements. The ultimate weakness of controller is when outnumbered with ready-to-die soldiers
