In ableton live 11 lite, with my launchkey mini mk3, the sesson pad doesn't light up or do anything, and I cannot figure out why. It seems to have changed from live 10?
Sorry you're having problems with that. It sounds like Launchkey isn't correctly configured within Ableton Live. You can certainly take control of Session Mode when setup as explained here - support.novationmusic.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360009288079-Launchkey-Mini-MK3-Getting-Started-Ableton-Live-Setup
Launchkey Mini [Mk3] features very similar Session View control. When working with Launchkey Mini [Mk3], the arrow keys are accessed as secondary, Shift functions, from the pads located to the right of the Scene Launch pads. You can find more information on page 13 of the User Guide here - fael-downloads-prod.focusrite.com/customer/prod/s3fs-public/downloads/Launchkey%20Mini%20MK3%20User%20Guide%201.1%20English%20EN.pdf
Hi, I'm not getting the session option after I plug the midi in. I am getting the signal though, and after I select the instrument I can play it and use the play/stop/record buttons on the launchkey. The only problem is that there's no session view. How do I fix that?
Session Mode can be accessed by pressing the Session Mode pad while holding the Shift key. If your Ableton Live Session is empty the pads won't look like they do here. If you're unable to access Session Mode, it's probably worth checking that Launchkey [Mk3] is correctly configured within Ableton Live. We explain how to do that on Page 12 of the User Guide available here - fael-downloads-prod.focusrite.com/customer/prod/s3fs-public/downloads/Launchkey%20%5BMK3%5D%20User%20Guide%20v1.1%20English%20-%20EN.pdf John // Novation UK 🇬🇧
@novationhelp Is the Launchkey 49 easier to use than the Impulse 49 with Ableton? I am a complete beginer learning to play Piano and learning Ableton to be able to mix all kinds of beats !
Both of these devices can fully integrate with Ableton Live. The Impulse features a semi-weighted key bed which may be easier to play piano than the unweighted, synthesizer-style keys of Launchkey 49. This article explains how impulse integrates with Ableton: support.novationmusic.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360009774459-How-to-configure-the-Impulse-with-Ableton-Live-Lite Please let us know if this helps or if you have additional questions.
@@NovationHelp I got the chance to get the Impule 49 for the same price as launchkey 49! So I'm trying to decide. Your opinion would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
On Launchkey 25 and 37, the pots will default to controlling Track Volume but you can use Shift to take control of other parameters - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DJjB_mWpfak.html
Want to create your own mappings? You could use a Custom Mode to do that. Alternatively, when working with Ableton Live, the automatic hardware integration is made possible using dedicated Control Surface scripts. Within Ableton Live, you could navigate to the MIDI preferences and switch this to 'none'.
That's the Ableton Live Tuner plug-in that is included with all editions of Ableton Live, including the copy of Ableton Live 'Lite' provided with our products. John // Novation UK 🇬🇧
i started my session i did place the required clips in its place , when the stop/solo/mute button in its default state it is unlit when i press the bottom row under the clips , it does not launch any clip , i just want launch my clips one by one using the stop /solo/mute button in its default state , i don't know why the bottom row of are unlit, advice as the clips is been lunched only together and as if its a scene when i press the upper row of pads not the bottom ones 1:12
We're sorry to hear that you're having problems. By default, Launchkey [Mk3] should be autodetected by Ableton Live 10.1.15 and later but if Launchkey does not work as shown here, it's possible that it might not be correctly configured. Please navigate to the Preferences menu and ensure it is set up as shown in this Help Centre article - support.novationmusic.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360014624339-Getting-Started-With-Launchkey-MK3-Ableton-Live-10-Setup Please also ensure that the Clips that you're triggering from Launchkey [Mk3] contain samples. If the pad is unlit, the Clip may be empty.
Hello first off i love my Launchkey 49. One request do you think you could update the software so that device select for effects works like in ableton on logic pro. when i press device select using logic nothing happens and the pads and the pads don't turn white :/ thanks for the help
Similarly to many of Launchkey's features, that functionality is specific to Ableton Live and utilises integration created by the Ableton team. Device mode essentially allows you to control an Ableton “Device” (Ableton or 3rd-party instruments and effects) on a Live track. Afraid we're unable to make any changes to digital audio workstations (DAWs) and recording software to change how they utilise the data sent from Launchkey.
We apologize for the confusion. This article should offer a better introduction to Launchkey MK 3 and Ableton Live: support.novationmusic.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360019843620-Getting-Started-With-Launchkey-MK3-Ableton-Live-Setup
FLkey and Launchkey [Mk3] are very different in terms of software integration. If you're primarily looking for an Ableton Live controller, you will be best served by Launchkey. FLkey does not benefit from dedication integration with Ableton Live although it will function as a generic MIDI controller.
Hi. Using launchkey 49 mk3 and can't understand how to work with more than 8 tracks? I understand this can be done but don't find the information. So if I have 9 tracks on the session mode how to control the 9th? 8 pads only.. What magic button combination should I use to get the 9 to 16 track being controlled ?? Hope for clarity
If you have Launchkey 25 [Mk3], you may need to hold down Shift and select Device, to put the pots into Device mode. As mentioned in the video, when using Launchkey 49 and 61 [Mk3] the pots default to device control. When working with Ableton Live Plug-Ins, the pots are automatically assigned to the first 8 controls in the plug-in, essentially providing access to Ableton Live Blue Hand Control. You can use the Drum Pads to move to the next 8 controls. If that’s not the case for you, Launchkey might not be correctly configured within Ableton Live. I’d suggest that you open up the preferences and ensure that it is set up as shown in the article below - Ableton Live 10 - support.novationmusic.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360014624339-Getting-Started-With-Launchkey-MK3-Ableton-Live-10-Setup Ableton Live 11 - support.novationmusic.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360019843620-Getting-Started-With-Launchkey-MK3-Ableton-Live-11-Setup John // Novation UK 🇬🇧
@@NovationHelp No, that is wrong for the Launchkey88. The settings are correct in Ableton Live. The pots do not do anything in the sound control. They just do panning.
the 88 key launch key has all the features of the other key models so any videos for other launch keys will apply to the 88. If the pads don't appear correct upon setup you may need to set up Ableton's control surface preferences. This process is explained in detail on page 12 of the product manual which I've linked below. fael-downloads-prod.focusrite.com/customer/prod/downloads/Launchkey%20MK3%20User%20Guide%20v6%20-%20EN.pdf
Sorry you're having problems with that. If you give us a call or use Live Chat, we can help you set this up - bit.ly/NovationSupport Using the Launchkey [Mk3] 'Device Mode', it's possible to take control of software parameters within Ableton and 3rd party plug-ins and effects using the Launchkey [Mk3] pots and faders. If the Track in Ableton Live contains an Effect or Instrument Rack the assigned faders or pots sync to the first rack’s eight Macro Controls. You could also use a Custom Mode to create a custom template for plug-ins. You can find more information in the User Guide here - fael-downloads-prod.focusrite.com/customer/prod/downloads/Launchkey%20MK3%20User%20Guide%20v6%20-%20EN.pdf

Launchkey 88 was released more recently, after this video was created but the instructions provided here also apply. We've also created a range of step-by-step tutorial content for Launchkey 88, available on the 'Easy Start' section of our website, accessed when you connect Launchkey 88 to your computer and follow the link that it provides - customer.focusritegroup.com/en/getstarted/begin/k8
The Pad Send Mode has been designed to provide access to 2 Return tracks but if your Ableton Set has more, you could use a Custom Mode with Ableton Live's MIDI Learn function to quickly assign control of up to 8 additional Sends.
nobody is talking about how the PLAY BUTTON ON THE MK3 DOES NOT WORK. Customer service says there's no workaround. THIS IS FALSE ADVERTISING Y'ALL IF THE PRODUCT WAS INTEGRATED WITH ABLETON IT WOULD RESPECT ABLETON FUNCTIONS. I don't care how in-depth it gets if it skips the most basic steps.
What kind of problems are you having exactly? The dedicated Play, Record, Stop and Loop buttons can be used to control the transport in Ableton Live. Shift + Play can also be used to play from the current marker position. Launchkey [Mk3] communicates with Live using a dedicated MIDI script created and integrated into Live by Ableton.
