Could you please explain what is meant by ‘Individual MIDI channel outputs of keys, drums or chord modes to operate on different MIDI channels’ ? Thanks in advance
You essentially have the ability to separate those parts of the controller and have them transmit their information on their own separate channels. This can be useful when working with hardware, such as sending specific information to a connected hardware synthesiser, or when creating a complex software setup where you want precise control over multiple instruments.
Thanks for your feedback on this. If you're looking for a controller that you can use with multiple DAWs, you may want to consider Launchkey [Mk3]. FLkey is designed for use with FL Studio only. No other DAW benefits from dedicated integration with FLkey so there aren't any videos demonstrating that but FLkey will be able to function as a standard MIDI controller that can be manually mapped for DAW control.
If this isn't working for you it could be because Ableton isn't detecting the keyboard/your keyboard is connected to something else. Search for Novation's article named "Getting Started With Launchkey [MK3] Ableton Live Setup". Then go through that process. If you get red MIDI ports then what worked for me was going into device manager and deleting all of my USB drivers under "Universal Serial Bus controllers" and restarting my pc. This makes your mouse and keyboard disconnect so only do this if you have an external way of shutting down/restarting your pc. I found this out in an Ableton article named "Red MIDI ports (Windows)". It lists other reasons for and methods of solving this issue. Hope this helps
No, afraid there isn't currently a way of enabling that as default but there is a workaround. You could create an empty Project that features empty, 32 step long patterns for all tracks and then save that Project to every empty Project slot. This would effectively allow you to load this as standard but it does require a little prep.
Is there any video on how to control the circuit tracks or rhythm using launch control XL? I downloaded the templates and used ableton as the midi hub but still have difficulty. The rhythm and tracks would be more powerful if we can midi map on the XL to reduce Menu diving when performing Live
Sorry you're having problems with that. It's certainly possible to map hardware controls to Launch Control XL for live performance. Launch Control XL was originally conceived as a controller for Ableton Live so doesn't feature TRS or 5 Pin DIN MIDI connectivity but you can use a suitable converter, such as the Kenton MIDI USB Host to connect or a DAW like Ableton Live to route the MIDI from Launch Control X to your hardware. You can also create and use your own Templates for control. Perhaps it's best if you give us a call or use Live Chat so that we can explain how to set this up? - bit.ly/CallNovationSupport
Have you created a Custom Mode using Components and saved it to your FLkey hardware, as shown here? Creating assignments within FL Studio using 'Link to Controller' will temporarily bind software parameters to the hardware control for that particular FL Studio project.
Thanks ! Great update, keep that good work please :D :D ! Pd: It was easy for me.... but if someone ask for help i can tell how i edit my registry to make ir easier !
That's right. The HUI Firmware update shown here was the most recent release so your hardware should display '710' as the main firmware version if you have updated successfully
Sorry to hear that. What kind of problems are you having? Perhaps it's best if you give us a call or use LiveChat to discuss this with us today - bit.ly/CallNovationSupport
I was able to set the midi preferences correctly and set the parameters using the MIDI button on the top right, but when I opened a new project the parameters reset. Is there way to the MIDI parameters permanent? I also noticed when I set the record option to the record button on my launchkey, it would only work as I held down the button and stop once I released it.
Creating MIDI assignments using the MIDI Learn feature within Ableton Live will create assignments that are specific to that Ableton Live Set. If you would like these assignments to apply to all future Sets, you can create the assignments again and then use the File > 'Save Live Set as Default Live Set' option. This Set will then load each time to create a new Set. The Launchkey [Mk3] Record button will behave like a momentary control rather than a toggle, so will send a message when pressed down and another when released. This can be changed but it's probably best if you give us a call or use LiveChat so that we can assist you with that as it will require the use of a third-party application and a preset that we've made for the purpose of changing the Record button. You can access contact details here - bit.ly/CallNovationSupport
Afraid we don't fully understand. How are you hoping to use FLkey? If you would like the pads to function like laptop keyboard keys, you can create a Custom Mode, assigning keys of your choice to the pads using the 'Keystroke' widget - components.novationmusic.com/flkey/custom-modes/new
That's right, the Scale and Chord features shown here are built into our FLkey controllers. Afraid we're not aware of a way of achieving something similar using a QWERTY keyboard but the Image-Line Team might be able to assist you with that.
Unlike Launchpad Pro [Mk3], Launchpad X doesn't have a dedicated Quantise control but you could use the Custom Keystroke Widget in Components to assign the keyboard shortcut (CMD+U on a Mac or CTRL+U on a PC) to a pad of your choice.
Absolutely. Launchkey [MK2] has been supported since FL Studio version 12.2. Setup is similar to the process shown here. We explain in detail in this article - support.novationmusic.com/hc/en-gb/articles/206861879-Novation-Launchkey-support-in-FL-Studio
Does this happen with all plug-in instruments or only some? Are you using wireless headphones? Due to their connectivity method, they can introduce noticeable latency.
Sorry you're having problems updating. Are you connecting your FLkey directly to a Mac or Windows PC via USB using the cable provided? Are you using a web browser that supports web MIDI to access Components, such as Google Chrome? Have you tried the standalone Components app? Available from the menu at the top-right in Components
I can get some features working in FL Studio 24 but channel rack up and down dont function..... didnt auto setup so I followed the instructions to manually pair but still nothing can anyone help?
Sorry you're having problems with that. Have you followed the steps provided here? support.novationmusic.com/hc/en-gb/articles/4906175480722-FLkey-Manual-FL-Studio-setup Did you use the "Update MIDI Scripts" option to ensure that FL Studio was able to download the latest versions from the Image-Line server? If you give us a call or hop on a LiveChat, we can look further into this with you and help you get set up - bit.ly/CallNovationSupport
@@NovationHelp I'm having the same issue, where there are no available midi script updates but the channel rack still won't light up and is only seen as an unknown input in FL Studios.
Glad you found it useful! In addition to outputting note data, they keyboard keys also provide access to a variety of different functions. At that point in the video, we're using the keyboard keys to select these different functions, which are labelled above the keyboard keys. We're not creating any sound at that point. Apologies for any confusion that may have caused!
Which plug-in are you working with? The functionality of the Modulation control and the specific parameter(s) that it controls will vary but you should find that you can map the Modulation control to parameters in FL Studio.
Have you installed the Logic Script as shown at the start of the video? Is your Launchkey connected directly to your computer via USB and not via a hub of any kind?
Circuit devices do not feature an input for an expression pedal. However, if you have a pedal that outputs MIDI data or an expression pedal that transmits for an external MIDI device, you can assign MIDI controls for Circuit Tracks, using the information in the programmer's reference guide which I've linked below. Please let us know if this makes sense or if we can answer additional questions. fael-downloads-prod.focusrite.com/customer/prod/downloads/circuit_tracks_programmer_s_reference_guide_v3.pdf
My newly bought FL 61 key doesn’t allow me to select the row of the first four pads thereby preventing me from accessing modes like the channel rack, instruments, Patterns and Sequencer 😢🤦🏾♂️. Only the scale chord, user chord and custom lits. The record, start and metronome , play and pause all don’t work. But when I press on them I see an icon blink green in fl studio. I need help.
We're sorry to hear you are having trouble with FLKey. If your device hasn't fully integrated automatically with FLStudio, it may help to do a manual setup. Info on how to do so can be found here: support.novationmusic.com/hc/en-gb/articles/4906175480722-FLkey-Manual-FL-Studio-setup However, if you try these steps and still experience issues, our support team would be happy to help you further at the link below: bit.ly/NovationSupport
A lot of times my launchkey doesn’t make sound through out the tutorial. When you had us play with drums while playign the track I couldn’t hear the tracks I could only hear my selected drums as i fidget idk..
Sorry to hear that you encountered problems. It sounds like Launchkey might not be correctly configured within Ableton Live. If you're still having problems, please open up the Preferences in Live and follow the instructions provided here - support.novationmusic.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360019843620-Getting-Started-With-Launchkey-MK3-Ableton-Live-Setup
Are you sending MIDI back to Launchpad Pro [Mk3]? If you would like to light the LEDs using MIDI from your DAW you will need to send Note On messages In Session Mode. You can find more information on this from page 8 of the Programmer’s reference manual - fael-downloads-prod.focusrite.com/customer/prod/s3fs-public/downloads/LPP3_prog_ref_guide_200415.pdf
If you would like to send MIDI from Logic Pro to Launchpad Pro [Mk3] you should find that you can create a MIDI track in Logic Pro that is set to send MIDI to the Launchpad Pro [Mk3] output port, labelled LPProMK3 MIDI (MIDI 1). If you have updated your Launchpad Pro [Mk3] to the latest firmware, you can also put it into 'Legacy Mode' by holding 'Setup' and pressing 'Mutation' which will put the pads in a blank layout ready to use with lightshows and applications of that nature.
@@NovationHelp Thank, I tried a lot of thing but it sames that it doesn't work as expected. Example : with Live if I record midi note and play, the pads react to the note played, It's what I would like to get with Logic Pro
Here we're demonstrating features that are part of the Launchkey hardware. The Scale and Chord features can be used with any DAW and also, standalone, with hardware. The Scale and Chord settings selected on the hardware won't be saved within an Ableton Live set or any other DAW.
Kind of sad there is no fl studio screen to test some setting during the video unlike others. But in general those videos were pretty informative, thank you!
Thanks for your feedback! Afraid we don't fully understand. What had you hoped to see? This video is hosted here on RU-vid for use on our 'Easy Start' platform. If you haven't yet, we'd recommend that you check it out - id.focusritegroup.com/en/getstarted/begin/F3
Thanks for checking it out! FLkey is a controller for FL Studio on Mac and Windows PC. It doesn't benefit from any specific integration with FL Studio Mobile but would be expected to be able to transmit MIDI successfully for use in any compatible iOS apps.
@NovationHelp Hello! LPX DAW or LPX MIDI doesn't appear in my input or output window of the midi preference page. I am using macbook, macOS Monterey? Ableton Live 11. Could you help me please?
Sorry to hear that. Have you tried all available USB ports and alternative USB cables? Have you ensured that your Launchpad X is using the latest firmware? Available from Components - components.novationmusic.com/launchpad-x/updates
Sorry you're having problems. It sounds like the update wasn't successful for some reason. Are you able to try the update process again from a different computer?
Not to worry, we can help you find a solution to this. We can see you've also raised this with our Support Team via email. Somebody will reply ASAP and troubleshoot this further with you.
Sorry to hear that. It sounds like FLkey might not be correctly configured. Please navigate to the MIDI Settings window within FL Studio and ensure that FLkey is set up as explained here - support.novationmusic.com/hc/en-gb/articles/4906175480722-FLkey-Manual-FL-Studio-setup?23
Novation I bought one two weeks ago, so you've already won my money, but come on! You know that screen should be larger than that! It should be at least 4 times that size! it's very hard to read!
We're sorry to hear you are not a fan of the screen size on FLKey. We appreciate this feedback and will take it into consideration for future devices, but please let us know if we can answer any questions about your FLKey.
Within Ableton Live, please navigate to the Settings and ensure that your Launchkey is correctly configured, as explained in this article - support.novationmusic.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360019843620-Getting-Started-With-Launchkey-MK3-Ableton-Live-Setup
I love Novation products, absolute game changer. For anyone that watches this video in the future by the way, Novation has updated the firmware on the Launchpad X to allow for 8 custom modes. This was only previously available on the Launchpad Pro! This is an unbelievably cool update for a midi controller at this price point. Thanks Novation
hello, today i tried to do this procedure..my innovation 49 got bricked and is not switching on ..did factory reset but still not working..what do i do now??help!!
Hi, apologies for the delay in response, and we're sorry to hear you are having trouble. If this issue is still persisting, we recommend you reach out to our support team for assistance. Our team would be happy to get your device up and running at the link below: bit.ly/NovationSupport
Yes, you can manually map Clip/Scene Launch controls to the Launch Control XL buttons of your choice in a Custom Template. Launch Control XL doesn't feature 5-Pin DIN MIDI I/O but it is a USB Class Compliant device and does pair well with USB MIDI hosts for standalone use - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-V0Mo6dk8lL8.html
Because SL MK 3 is primarily an Ableton controller, there are some features that may not be available when working with different DAWs. This article below, may offer additional assistance support.novationmusic.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360001203980-Getting-Started-with-SL-MkIII-DAW-Setup-Cubase However, if you need help getting started with your SLMK 3, our support team would be happy to assist at the link below: bit.ly/NovationSupport
Whilst Launchpad X can be selected as a MIDI Input/output device, as shown here, FL Studio doesn't natively feature a dedicated script but there is a Launchpad X script available from the Image-Line forum: forum.image-line.com/viewtopic.php?t=321464
Not quite. As shown here, Launchpad X will function when used as a generic controller with FL Studio and it can also transmit MIDI for use in any DAW this way. Launchpad is a controller for Ableton Live and it comes bundled with Ableton Live Lite. We'd suggest that you try that if you want to fully utilise Launchpad X and all of its features. The Image-Line team don't appear to have added dedicated integration for Launchpad X to FL Studio, but they do provide a free script that will expand its functionality.
You can find more information on the script that we mentioned here - github.com/MetallicAsylum/Novation-Launchpad-X-MK3 forum.image-line.com/viewtopic.php?t=321464
