Followed speedway since ‘69 Teesside Tigers /Boro Bears and absolutely love the sport. Great memories of hundreds of meetings home and away. Thanks for the vid 👍
Excluded for delaying the start, what would they think of today’s ridiculous delay while gardening goes on at the gate…one of the main reasons I don’t attend speedway anymore.
@@martynhepworthArchiveSpeedway I think you will find that the 2 minute time allowance is for a rider to turn up at the tapes it doesn’t incorporate the 5 minutes of gardening, I thought you would realise that to be honest.
@@nervo6321A countdown clock to signify the 2-minute time allowance will be used at all tracks. Riders must be at the starting gate, ready to start, at the expiry of the time allowance. I think you'll find this is the current rule.
A speedway referee allows a 5/6 minute turn around for every race. 1 minute between races, 2 minute time allowance, 1 minute race and 1 minute riders back to the pits. Add on track grades, interval and stoppages you have 2 hours of Speedway. I thought you would realise that to be honest. Its a great sport badly promoted and since social media arose, its been slagged off to the hilt. I still enjoy the smell, roar, cheers and races (with it's fair share of processional heats) but that was just the same back in 1974 as when watching as an 11 year old, and of course back then you had you Had Ivan Mauger and Co cheating at the start by rolling and delaying the start....
Halifax Dukes ! mid 70s, 14 year old. Loved it. The bikes looked awesome back then, metalflake mudguards, chromed frames, todays bikes?, push the ugly shit in a furnace , slab sided blandness with a chewed up fruit pastel for a seat,
