I love the Convatec moldable flange/wafer. It is fast and easy to remove. Brava adhesive wipes takes care of the glue with ease. No more cutting no more spending money on separate barrier rings. It is definitely not any thicker than when you wear a convex ostomy bag. The security of not leaking anywhere and my goodness, your skin looks so much better after just a few weeks. My skin started turning red around the stoma and then I tried this and wow what a difference. I am going to stick with this wafer.

I really love this product and don’t have the issues you do! When applying the pouch to the wafer I squirt a small amount of liquid into the pouch sealing ring and then have no issues joining the two together. As regards the residue removal I use pelican adhesive remover which removes everything cleanly and quickly! I love the thickness of the wafer as it gives me confidence! Finally thanks for all yr revues, I had my illeostomy 45 years ago as a young man and I’m still learning

I switched to a new variation of this. Zero leaks. I have liquid output. It was worth the change and the price is great. This flange doesn't bulge on me so I think it is the wearer. It is very flexible. I wear the sur-fit Natura durahesive flex. There are several bag options. I am funny about switching but this was my best choice ever and I pay way less!!

I was given a Convatec two-piece system by my hospital, so it's the first product I used and it worked very well for me. Never had a leak in that first month of using it. I decided to try out a Coloplast one-piece pouch and that was a giant disaster. I really wanted to like it, as it was comfortable and sleek, but I had leakages every time, so I ended up going back to my Convatec. I recently ordered the moldable wafer as I read it is better for a more liquid output (mine ranges from liquidy to pasty usually, and I've had issues with pancaking so I think those factors contributed to the leaks I had with the Coloplast, as my output basically ate away at the center of the wafer and got underneath it. It also caused some damage to my skin). I think your review of this product is pretty reasonable. Some of the issues you listed are things that don't bother me about Convatec, but I can see how they could be a problem for others so I like that you present the good and bad for you, while acknowledging that each person is unique. I am hopeful that the moldable wafer will help my skin issues! By the way, I love your videos...they are so informative. You've helped me to feel more comfortable about my ileostomy.

I use the Convatec Natura Surefit. It's what works best for me. I find that the bags with filters have leaked, especially at bedtime, so I prefer the ones without filters.

Found the same with the bags. Easier to just take a bathroom visit and let any excess air out if that's an issue.

I LOVE the rigid connection between the Convatec wafer & bag. I can't keep a Hollister 2-piece on for anything, and I think it may have to do with me being 5'2". My ostomy appliance rubs up against the bottom edge of my countertops while washing dishes, making dinner, & washing my hands in the bathroom. The Convatec wafer/bag seal stays tight and secure, unlike Hollister which I've ripped off (while wearing a belt) multiple times because it's not as rigid of a seal. I couldn't use the 2 piece Convatec right out of surgery due to tenderness, but after I'd adjusted, they were the best choice for me. I do wish they had more tape around the edges. I typically secure the edges with hy-tape.

Yay!! Yes, I would agree that once the wafer and bag are attached, the ConvaTec system is pretty much locked in for good!

I agree that this is the best. I just switched and while it felt strange, it soon became my new normal. I never have an issue snapping it on. As far as the "residue", I don't have that issue because I wear a waterproof adhesive cover over my flange. Clean removal. There are more than just the two bag types for this flange and the closures vary, including the invisiclose lock it. My filter never gets wet. I soak in the tub and never taped it yet. They come with spare filter inserts by the way. As a person with output like water, I have never once had a leak via my filter. The high output bags have a back wash lining that keeps stool from going upward to the stoma. Works well. You make me wonder what version you are reviewing. The flap version you show, I have never seen but I imagine it helps some roll it higher, as shorter people often prefer it not dangle in their clothing. Who knows. I think it's great you do reviews, but I think you missed a bit here bag wise.

I use this two piece appliance and have to agree with you on the issues about the adhesive and the filter. I gave up on the filter and now use the closed end pouch without the filter. As for the adhesive residue, I have to use a buf-puf or other type of mild facial dermabrasion cloth to remove the residue before I can shave the hair. Other than these two issues, the appliance is durable and functional for me. I really like the moldable wafer (although according to the video, I was doing it wrong). Thanks for the review. I'm glad I found your video series, it helps to know I'm not alone out there.

I just wanted to say thank you Eric for your honest reviews. I have used this wafer for about 6 yrs now and put an Eakin cohesive ring on it and heat the products with a hair dryer prior to placing on the skin. I have pyoderma so I need the absorption of the Eakin seal I use brava rings to protect the paper and that makes the system last about 4-5 days. I am so glad to recently have found you! There are other bags available that actually roll up with with the moldable. ref" 416418 for clear and 416417 opaque with filter.. also a tip on the putting the bag onto barrier use lotion around the rim on barrier to place the bag on and it becomes easier and you can hear it snap on. this helps with pressure too. so it's not so hard on pushing on the stomach ;) good job on all your reviews especially for those who are wanting to see what's available out there and aren't sure. or who are new to the ostomy world. very well done! :)

You're absolutely right - ConvaTec has dozens of bags that work with this system. Unfortunately, I didn't have access to more, but they do have something for everyone! I love the lotion trick! When I review products, I tend to review them on their own without any additional tricks. I have several of this "hacks" for Hollister bags, but I can't assume that everyone would know about it or use it - if a user expects a certain experience out of the box, I'm hoping my review covers that experience. If you've got more tips on how to make this product easier to use, please let me know! Thanks for watching ;)

Great review! Interesting product. I prefer "burping" rather than using a pouch with a filter. This system would probably not be easy to "burb" because of the difficulty of applying and detaching the pouch from the wafer.

My husband uses these wafers. The material tends to rebound a little after you roll it back. I have found that molding it somewhat larger is helpful since, if it rebounds it will still fit the stoma. Otherwise it can be a bit too small. Re lint or adhesive, we don't have lint or trouble removing the adhesive. Perhaps he doesn't wear his as long.

The bag itself, I havent had the same issues as yourself. It works great in the shower. Dries quick. Never leaked, ever. Ballooning is normal - I read so much on so many sites that it is normal. Just burp it. The velcro is solid. The opening is big so cleaning is quick. Connecting the bag to the flange is also an ease. I think where this differs from people to people is the strength of your core. If you are “squishy” then good luck with pressing it on. If you have a strong core then no problem.

Hi: Thank you for this channel, there is so much to learn! I have an iliostomy for about one year now and been using Hollister 2 pc. convex, with standard barrier ring. I'm about the same build, have a raised stoma but belly skin is soft with some fat (6' tall 175 lbs). My main issue is short life and leakage due to active lifestyle and work requires a lot of squatting, twisting, flexing and I also would like to be able to do sit ups and crunches again without feeling stressed and paranoid it's going to peel and leak again. The base plate or flange on my current 2 piece system is quite rigid, and when bending over or doing a sit up unfortunately the skin folds in a horizontal line right across where the stoma is. I also wear the ostomy belt which helps but leakage and short life (about 3 days) still happens. I can go longer if I"m mostly sedentary. Can you recommend the most flexible convex system with strong adhesive (or strong barrier ring that doesn't "melt"), that will allow for abdominal flexing without peeling or leaking, for as long as possible? I don't care if it's one piece or two. I would also like ability to wear a belt since it adds some security. If you can help, THANK YOU! Ps... Before watching your review on them, I just received some Convatec "Moldable" convex two piece samples with eakin Cohesive 839002 barrier rings. I haven't tried it yet, but noticed the base plate flange is extremely stiff and rigid and more convex than expected, I thought it would be flexible. BTW, would you suggest using them with or without the barrier ring? I've never tried my current Hollister without a barrier ring so I'm a little afraid, but the Convatec convex base protrudes So much, maybe it's better without the ring? Again, thank you so much in advance!

I've found the best wear time for me is with a 1pc appliance. 7 to 10 days is normal for my wear time with a 1pc these past few years, when with heavy activity like cycling. Flexible, convex, and durable is going to be challenging. Coloplast has some fairly diverse convex offerings, but you'd need to try them yourself to see if they offer better wear time when moving. It's not bad to change your appliance every three days, especially if you are active. It keeps the skin healthy at the very least. Inconvenient and costly if you are paying out of pocket, which I'd totally understand. I would still sample other products and brands, just to see what results you're able to get. Best of luck!

Hi Eric! Thanks for your reviews and tips. The leaking video was so informative. I've had my ileostomy for about a month after colon cancer surgery and boy has it been a nightmare. I found the Hollister one piece in your other video to be wayyy to harsh on my skin. It literally ripped layers of skin away and after the 3rd day they Ostomy nurse said maybe the alcohol content in the sticky wafer and the paste was to much for my sensative skin. I've had to doctor it using stoma powders and skin barrier wipes to help heal it. I accidently ordered the wrong pouch on Amazon being that my insurance month's supply was the hollister pouches... Well, I ended up with the ConvaTec one system #22771 basic clear pouch. It has been heaven sent. I have a retracted stoma and even though I'm told I should go with a convex system. I've tried and the outside ridge is left to high off my skin to stick while the little convex center fits like a charm. So no go for me, either. Well, this ConvaTec pouch sticks so well and is so easy to mold when I sit or fold over it is very flexable. The barrier rings work like a charm as well. I found though the paste works best for me and ConvaTec has alcohol FREE paste and rings so my skin has been able to heal. I still use the stoma powder and the barrier wipes but goodness, this has been a great accidental find for me.

I'd love to one day try the Active Life products from ConvaTec, and I'm so happy that they work for you! The Hollister products I've reviewed have a very aggressive adhesive because they are extended wear, but I'm not surprised to hear people having poor experiences with them - adhesives can cause problems for many people, so it's important to try other brands out. That's great that your accidental order ended up on a positive note!

Very good review ,thank you. Yes, I have noticed some leakage from filter. But what I’ve also noted is the seal around the bag sometimes comes apart in a small area resulting in small hole and potentially leaking. Now, I shower every day and rinse bag with handheld shower head filling it 1/3 the way. I can usually get through with same wafer every 3-4 days. Re adhesive line on skin, I found it requires more scrubbing with adhesive remover wipe in different directions. My bag is different from what you described in video. It’s flesh colored,material-like.

That was the problem I had this product as well, with the inability to snap the appliance to the wafer. And I was 2 weeks out of surgery, so it was just impossible. My hospice nurses would say, "well just snap it on before you apply it". Well what do I do when I need to unsnap it and try to put it back on? Its was pointless to having a 2 piece, cuz it's impossible to get it back on. What sucked was I didn't figure that impossible snapping fact until after I got the wafer stuck on. So I had to remove the wafer about an hour to put a different brand of wafer on (that's how long I tried to get it to work before deciding i needed a different wafer). And being 2 weeks out of surgery, it just killed my skin and irritated my stoma to try this product. So I've definitely written this product off.
@glamberson
@glamberson 8 лет назад
Interesting that you suggest the moldable works well with the liquid output of an ileostomy. My hospital has an exclusive arrangement with Convatec, so this is what I went home with. Unfortunately I was not at all happy with it. It leaked for me quite a lot. My ostomy is recessed and irregular, and I wasn't using anything to build convexity. It could have been I just wasn't experienced enough to deal with it properly, but now I'm happy with my Coloplast products (I've tried 2 or 3 Hollister systems as well). Oh by the way, I did use the accordion flange with this product, and it very significantly reduced problems attaching the pouch. You still need some pressure, but it's far easier to deal with.
@VeganOstomy
@VeganOstomy 8 лет назад
These moldable wafers would certainly help with leaks, but if you have a recessed or flush stoma, then it's necessary to use the convex version. I might order some of the accordion flanges just to see how well they work, but I have no doubt that they make things easier.

Firstly, once again I come before you to tell you how magnificent you are! I greatly appreciate all your videos! I left the hospital without any direction from a Colostomy nurse. You are such a godsend! I have a question. I am legally blind, I cannot see the stoma, “Macy” is just outside of my vision field. Do you know of any videos on RU-vid or the Internet instructing on this particular issue? Can you help me to learn to change my appliance. I’ve never changed my own appliance. I’ve had my Ileostomy five months now. I really want to relieve Mike of that responsibility. I am a 16 year vegan. I empty my bag about eight times a day. I take care of that myself, no problem. However, I want total autonomy. Basically dude I want my dignity back. I’m pretty certain you understand. Right? Do you think you can help me.? Secondly, I came up with a solution for showering and I thought was rather clever. I took a gallon size Ziploc bag put a slit in the back of the bag like would be in a bag cloth cover only for just a 3” slit and not a circle. Red zipper at the bottom at the bottom of the bag so I could use the Ziploc to empty my bag when I was finished. I attached the bag and a slight angle with a small piece of surgical tape i.e. second skin. And leave 1 inch of the Ziploc open to allow any condensation to drip out of the bag and then put a bellyband over the entire Ziplock bag. The bellyband I used was approximately 10 inches tall and covered the entire gallon Ziploc bag. Every time I’ve use this for my applianc cover my bag ihad come out completely dry and I have been able to clean the rest of the area with out any muss or fuss. I can take a shower one or two times a day and not worry about having to change the appliance. I did not see this anywhere on the Internet or on RU-vid. I just thought I would pass it on to you and see what you thought. I hope you like my idea. God bless you and good science to you! GJW

I am so glad that I have been able to find your video's they have been a life saver for me. I have watched them many times. I use Hollister and had to change carriers so tried the sample of Convetec, the ones I received (3 different bag types two different face plates) were weak at the neck drainage part and leaked, it wasn't the same drainage ending in your video they were off set from each side of the plastic and they were two weak so that they wouldn't open when I pushed them together even when I put a crimp in them, I found the weakness also made them leak and were hard to clean after emptying. I never found an easy way to clean them so had to put new bags on each time they filled, I loved the face plate with the accordion top, that was very easy to use, The ones without the accordion were user unfriendly. I could not get them to secure on my soft stomach. I have had to find a different supplier so I could go back to Hollister. Thank you for your video's. :-)

I tried this too (6 weeks in, trying everything...) and there was no way I could apply enough pressure to fit the bag. Took it off and started again with a new one and assembled it before sticking the wafer. Failed and leaked in less than 24 hours. Put on a cut to fit (also Convatec I think) and failed in a couple of hours. I probably did something wrong but was still disappointed, mouldable seems such a good idea.

Greetings, Thank you for your vids. I'm a year new to this new life style and am still not happy with this whatsoever. I appreciate your enthusiasm and great attitude. I was so much like you before my change. I do really try to enjoy life but I find myself just a crabby old man. At times I'm happy and doing lots of the same chores and working as a IT Specialist but for whatever reason I find myself getting in a funk again and again. I know we're not alone and I know I should be happy cause I was given another chance, that said , that's what I enjoy about your post , 1 happy guy...even though I really don't know you. My stoma has retracted somewhat and I'm reluctant to go back to surgery..... just because. I don't have any leaks and I'm pretty fortunate considering some of the horror story's I hear. Sorry I'm just rambling on but I thought Id say hello and say thank you for your info. Keep up the great work!! Peace.

Getting out of that funk is important and I'm sure it would raise your quality of life. Have you been able to pinpoint any specific reason why you are in this funk? Does your stoma interfere with anything or cause problems that you can't ignore? What would your ideal life with a stoma be like (and you can't say "no stoma" for this thought experiment!)?

All about audio, I understand your grief. It is difficult in the beginning. My wife had the surgery 30 years ago. It's a big transition. God loves you and He will help you through this. She and I will be praying for you. Keep your chin up. I applaud you for your courage during this big change in life.

Thanks for the videos and information. I have only had my ostomy for 1 month. I am trying to figure things out. I use mostly holster products. What moldable wafer do you recommend. I am starting to get redness and irritation. I also have to shave around my stoma regularly. My waste varies from liguid to outmeal....
@VeganOstomy
@VeganOstomy 8 лет назад
+ericsinct There really are only two well known moldable products. The one in this video and another from ConvaTec (I did a review on those as well). You'll have to experiment to see which works best for you, but it will help if you can thicken up your output. Consider using a gelling product in your pouch to help with that.

If you're looking for a low profile two-piece, consider finding one with an adhesive coupling. Some people swear by them, while I've had mixed results (sometimes they leak between the adhesive coupling).

I love the coloplast products, but my stoma is really oddly shaped. I couldn't get the leakage around it to stop, no matter how I shaped the barrier rings or strips. (I've been using the brava rings, but I'm starting to wonder if they are able to absorb as much as some of the others.) Anyway- I tried moldable wafers you're reviewing here and my skin healed right up. My issue with these, is that I also get overnight leakage from ballooning and the tape wafer does nothing to hold it back. After SO many leaks, I ended up cutting the tape off then using the brava extenders/tape to hold it down, but it's not easy to mold it either. And I HATE the bags that come with these. I've seen the barrier sheets (the squares) and wondered if I could use those to make something that gives me the great fit of the moldable barrier here but using the coloplast base. (I even tried ripping the hydrocolloid off of this flange, haha- didn't work!) I can't find any reviews or information about the square barrier sheets. Do you know anything about those? Also was thinking of trying the eakin seals again to see if they have a strong moldablilty to them as well as lasting longer than the bravas. Sorry for the long post, but your reviews are the ones I look for and I was hoping you might have some thoughts on this. Either way, great video as always. Thanks for doing these!

Since you know that moldables work for you, Hollister also has one (and their bags/wafers are much better than the ConvaTec). Have you tried those? I would personally try to avoid adding too many products to my changing routine because then there's less to worry about :)

Here is my work-around for using Convatec moldable with Coloplast products (I resorted to this when the quality of Coloplast convex light skin barriers went downhill after they stopped manufacturing them in Denmark). I use a Convatec Esteem Synergy durahesive convex skin barrier (along with an Eakin seal or Hollister Adapt ring) and then attach a flat Coloplast skin barrier to the Convatec skin barrier, so that I can use Coloplast’s pouch with the lock ring mechanism (which is unique to Coloplast, and which enables me to turn the pouch on the skin barrier without removing the pouch; I sleep on my side and turn the pouch sideways when sleeping, to let output go to bottom of pouch). Since the Esteem Synergy skin barrier uses adhesive coupling, its surface is flat, thus making it possible to place Coloplast’s (or another manufacturer’s) flat skin barrier on top of it. With this method, I'm able to take advantage of the fact that the Convatec convex durahesive moldable skin barrier lasts me for a week, while using my pouch of choice. (If you don’t need convexity, you can use this work-around with the Esteem Synergy (durahesive or stomahesive) flat skin barrier.) As far as “ballooning”, I find pouch filters to be useless for ileostomies. I use the Coloplast high output Sensura pouch, which is only available with a filter-so I just keep the filter covered up to prevent output from leaking through the filter. I use a product called Osto-EZ-Vent®. The advantage of this product is that it allows you to let air out of the pouch without removing or opening the pouch outlet. Here is the link to their website, which explains how to use it, etc. www.kemonline.com/content/home/. When I sleep, I open the outlet of the Osto-EZ-Vent and cover it with a product called OSTOMY VENT DEODORIZER, which is made specifically for the Osto-EZ-Vent. Using the vent deodorizer allows gas to escape from the pouch, preventing ballooning of the pouch when I sleep. Here is the link to the website: www.flat-d.com/kemd.html I actually use a very small piece of folded toilet paper right inside the Ostomy Vent Deodorizer, in case output gets onto the vent deodorizer. The vent deodorizer can be washed and can be used over and over. I find that using these 2 products gives maximum flexibility for dealing with the problem of gas build up in the pouch.

You really like Hollister dont you? Do you get compensated for it? Personally i find Hollister bag material to fray after a day or two. The two piece feels a bit flimsy and not very confident feeling. I was given a box after surgery and it was nasty to see my output all day long in the clear bags. I guess it was to monitor it. My akin around the stoma got red and bumpy and irritated. I switched to the Salts brand with the Aloe barrier and that felt nice for a bit until I tried the Convatec moldable and that made all the difference in the world.

Don't get me wrong, while I do use Hollister bags and wafers, they are far from perfect. They "just work" for me and I appreciate the simplicity and how long I'm able to wear them while keeping my skin "perfect". And no, I get no compensation at all from Hollister or any manufacturer. I couldn't make unbiased reviews if I did. 👍

Hi Eric.. I am about to try these flanges for the first time, and they also gave me samples of Eakin rings slim. I am wondering do you see an issue if I put an Eakin ring around my stoma and have the moldable on top of it? I am so unsure that the flange on its own will be enough to prevent me from leaks. When I wear my hollister I have a ring on at all times and on each change there is output on top of the ring. does not leak often but I am scared to go without a ring. Though I dont want too much with the ring and moldable and choke and hurt my stoma because it is too much for it.. Could you give me advice on what the best thing to do is before I try them out? I also because of a hernia going with the accordion flange along with a filterless bag. Thanks

@VeganOstomy 6 месяцев назад
Hi Jodi. My preference, especially when trying something new, is to be minimalist and add new products if needed. If you are comfortable doing so, and if you are prepared for any potential leaks, I'd start with only the appliance. If you feel the need to add a barrier ring after that, try it out. Good luck!

It didn’t swell when I used it. Hmmm
@VeganOstomy
@VeganOstomy Год назад
Hi Laura. The degree to which it swells can vary, but it should swell even a little after a day or so of wear. It's the hydrocolloid in the wafer that swells as it absorbs moisture. But let me ask you this: when you remove the wafer, does it look puffy? If so, then it's swelling :)

When the stoma is below the skin, the general solution is to use a convex product. You may need to see which brands offer it in your country, but all major brands should have them. I suggest having a stoma nurse look at your daughter to see which would be most appropriate. Best of luck.

Hello, I have a new permanent 10 day old ileostomy. I’m absorbing lots of information and learning quickly. My stoma is currently on a flat plane, and is 45mm in diameter, but I’m aware the size and shape will change. I am trying a different one piece drainable bag each time I do a bag change (which is currently every 2-3 days) I know that bags are individual in terms of ease of use, skin reaction to adhesive etc etc, but I wondered what you think is ‘the two best’ one piece drainable bag overall?

I've had the best results with Hollister 1pc appliances, both the ones that use their "flextend" wafer and the ones that use "Ceraplus". I have reviews for both: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PgHwcAoYx5o.html and ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HnyUFbh_Snk.html , and I prefer the versions without a filter in a clear bag (no fabric). They work better for me now than when I did the reviews, so skin changes, and probably weight loss, improved my experience.

If moldable works (and it hasn't for me with both the ConvaTec and Hollister appliances), then it's a really convenient way to size the hole for your stoma. I would say try both and see which you prefer.

Frankly speaking, I made a simple device to cut wafers. My grandmother uses ostomy bags, but she is not good at cutting wafers. Her struggles led me to invention of the device. But development of technology paralyze my cutting device. Anyway, your video clips and contents are very useful for ostomy users and push companies to make better products. Thank you again.

@justsomeguy4621

I had my ileostomy surgery at the beginning of August, 2016, and the hospital and nurses arranged for me to have these Convatec products. I have not tried any other products yet, but I have not had too much trouble with the system that Eric reviewed here. However, I believe I am using a different pouch. I am using Convatec part # 51416417. I did have one pouch spring a leak, but it was a very small leak from one of the seams. I wrote that off as a defective pouch. However, I have not yet had the filter leak, but I'm also not sure how well the filter works overall. I get some ballooning, especially overnight. I have to agree that attaching the pouch to the wafer is difficult and requires a lot of pressure to make sure the seal is correct. Also, it does not seem to tolerate water (shower) very well. The tape portion of the flange will begin to come off my skin in the shower when it gets wet. Also, the "fabric" covering the pouch does take a really long time to dry. I'm going to start covering the appliance when I'm in the shower with plastic wrap and waterproof tape. I've tried that once now, it works. (Mostly). The appliance is good for only about three days or so. The wafer tape doesn't always last that long, but the hydrocolloid center usually maintains a pretty good seal on its own.
@VeganOstomy
@VeganOstomy 8 лет назад
Thanks for sharing your experience. It does look like the bag you're using is different, so you may not have the same experience with the filter. It is disheartening to hear that the other problems with applying the bag, the water durability, and short wear times are still present. Take care!
@Your_Degenerate
@Your_Degenerate 7 лет назад
This was similar to my experience except my bag was also different, had no filter and closes with a sort of plastic clamping pin of sorts. I have to use the plastic wrap and tape also and it's a bit tricky to get it to stay 100% dry during a shower. This is however encouraging because I've managed to deal with it so far and if there is something better then things are looking up.

If a stoma expands & shrinks back.. (circumference).. Will the mouldable base plate change size with the stoma.. I have a loop stoma.. it doesn't stick out very far.. but it does expand in size on & off a lot randomly.. if it doesnt will it be a problem as im worried it will restrict my stoma & cause problems when the stoma expands.. i really want to use these so much as my stoma is misshapen so I carnt get precut base plates & i carnt cut the holes myself.. hope I make sence ty x
@VeganOstomy
@VeganOstomy Год назад
As far as I know, no wafer will shrink if the stoma shrinks while you're wearing it. Most will expand (stretch), but nearly all will swell up to a certain point when wet, which should fill any gaps between the stoma and hole. Does your stoma shrink before a bowel movement? Nearly all stomas will "move" around with peristalsis, but I know mine will shrink a lot when I have a partial blockage or slow moving output.

After we thoroughly cleaned the area, and allowed it to dry, using the usual precautions, it usually won't hold for longer than overnight. I wonder if the thickness of the Convatec wafer is just pulling the tape barrier away?
