I did academic, career and personal counseling with students. I never met a group of people more sincere about going to college. John probably handled this gentleman the way he did because he had a good idea of what he must have gone through. We all know that John was VERY against the Viet Nam war, as many of us were.

I remember when I first saw this, many years ago. I was thinking, this guy got to not only meet John, but he ate breakfast with him, too. The lucky s.o.b.! 😎

Lennon literally admitted in an interview - on tape - that he mercilessly beat dozens of women, including Cynthia, his first wife. "Any woman", he said, he would violently beat to a pulp - often over nothing at all, just because he was "in the mood to hit her". In fact, the lyric in "Getting Better" on Sgt. Pepper - "I used to be cruel to my woman, I beat her" was Lennon's contribution to the song, talking about himself. He was a TERRIBLE human being before he met Yoko Ono (and even then, he abandoned Cynthia and Julian), who he says was the only woman that stopped his violence. Everyone's "capable of being cruel" - but not everyone beats women to a pulp; Lennon was a seriously messed up person. Many of the greatest artists we've had and do have are awful human beings in their private lives - and it's important to separate the ART from the artist in many instances. Lennon was a brilliant songwriter and artist - but an absolute POS to women in real life.
