I don´t think he´s naive, I think the rest of us underestimate how much our mentality has changed throughout history. Look up stats on how many people die in wars per year, and you´ll see a decline over time (in the short run there can be ups and downs). We live in very peaceful times compared to where we´ve been, we live in peaceful times compared to 1969 when this was recorded. So what is the reason for this? Shouldn´t we be killing each other more? We have much better weapons, we are more people, we are more mixed. There should be many more conflicts and many more deaths. Something else must´ve changed. I believe what has changed is our mentality, our mindset. Exactly what the "naive" Lennon was talking about! I often see this comment that Lennon is naive for promoting peace, yet I have a feeling he´s done more for actual peace than any other artist in history. For example, how does songs like Imagine, Give Peace a Chance, All You Need is Love affect a person, how does it affect a child? We believe gangster rap influence violence, why don´t we believe songs about peace and understanding influence peaceful behavior? Most likely this historical change in mentality is due to many different reasons, and many different people who has pushed us in this direction, but what changed us for the better was certainly not cynical people who thought people that actually did something were naive. Culture shape minds, minds cause good/evil.
No one is laughing at peace..I think everyone is laughing because John and Yoko go about it in a daft, irritating way..lol..and they were bullshite. Yoko didn't show"love" to Julian when his father died. John use to hit people and Cyn..is that peace? No one like war mate.
John was a great man. He’s intellectually free here, and he’s a literal genius. Very far out, but not crazy. An idealist in the vein of Viktor Frankl. John’s job on Earth was to perturb and inspire people out of their ruts.
No not a great man he abandoned his kid Julian who still has trust issues over it years later into adulthood cause if "great John " honestly I'm glad someone in the end taught him a lesson .it's called karma .he cheated on his wife then on yoko then dumped may pang who he stung along and he was a heroin addict and not taking his son's calls ! yea great man ! !
At 8:24 Yoko sings. Yoko was from a very influential old Japanese family. Her classmate was Prince Akihito the future Emperor of Japan. How did she end up with John? Was she his handler?
Please, do you have the David Frost Show interview with Franklin j. Schaffner, Michael Jayston, Janet Suzman, Tom Baker, for "Nicholas and Alexandra" (31 December 1971)? I've been looking everywhere for this, it must be extremely interesting. Is it available to buy or to watch? Thank you so much. Great channel, subscribed. 💗
At this moment, John was rebelling against everyone, The Beatles, society, even himself. He was the master of writing beautiful, melodic 3 minutes songs. He knew this was garbage. I guess he was looking for a reaction. Wanted to shock people.
@@Inglese001you're right. I heard this album its daft..rubbish. Lennon and yoko were bullshite...lol.. they were bored so let's throw acorns for peace or stay in bed 🙄
Now I see where Chris Rock got that bit from in his movie pootie Tang when they played the record and there was nothing playing....complete silence....and it was a hit lmaooo
Well all I can say is this?... no wonder The Beatles broke up!, looking at this is clearly why?, whatever John was doing was clear to him but for the rest of us including the others 3 members of the band was totally bewildering!!, yes we can all understand (somewhat?) what John was trying to express to the world but Yoko's intense screaming was definitely something that was beyond tolerance!!😱 , in fact this was clearly beyond The Beatles?, Revolution number 9 on the White Album was bad enough but hearing the Two Virgins & Life with the Lions albums were beyond Revolution number 9??, it was 1969 & it was an entirely different John Lennon compared to the 1 we loved & adored, I just wished that John had lived on beyond December 8th 1980 cos despite his weird ways with Yoko he still would've done heaps more wonderful music even up to this very day but we are all deprived cos of 1 miserable lonely germ wasting his days away in a prison cell, John always wanted peace in this crazy world 🌎, let's hope he is IN peace although sadly not the way he planned?, Rest in peace John Lennon.🙏
Honestly I think John's completely delusional about Hitler and yes that's the thing I'm focusing on criticizing him on telling a young Adolf Hitler peace over and over again would not have done anything to prevent world war II if he was shown why hateing Jewish people and other people were wrong that would have done a lot more to change Hitler for the better
Honestly I want to say John is wrong because you see a bunch of Democrats talking about how much they want peace and they want Justice and all that crap and they're all basically miniature Hitler's and even the president and Joe Biden is basically a miniature Hitler so no John you're full of shit
