I just watched you guys and love you both. Me and my hubby would have been in a big A$$ fight and would have had ink all over that dang printer. Just received my 2803 today and I had ordered a 2720 and they said they stopped making that one and replaced it with the 2803 because the ink printheads got clogged on the 2720. Just watched you both and so glad I did. Ordering my sub ink right now. Thanks for all the info cause you taught me lots! Keep them videos going!
Good video on the EPSON ET-2803. Brings back memories when I use to make decals and t-shirts with my Epson almost 20 years ago. Those large ink tanks come in super handy. Back in the day, we had to use crazy expensive cartridges. Thanks for sharing. - Nancy ❤
Hi tks for video 👌was curious to know of you guys know ..once you fill up your sublimation printer with ink... ...how do you switch to different brands of sublimation ink ?can you? Do you have a video on it tks
Great question! We think you can mix sublimation ink with sublimation ink but we don’t know. We would try to use as much of one brand before switching but we will do a video in the future and let you know how it goes!
You have to use the same kind of ink as you bought before because each sublimation ink brand has a different yield so if you mix a high yield ink and an ultra high yield there will be some filler spot than other spots 😊😉
I'm also curious what to do with the ink jet ink. The crafter in me says try water color with it. Cheap water color paper, dollar store brushes, some disposable cups/plates and see what happens. Other thing I'm curious is if you can use it for ink smooshing on cards? I'd use pipettes to drop the ink on an acrylic block and try it. Would be fun to experiment with the ink for other craft projects. Maybe mix some with water and mica in small spray bottles spraying on water color paper. Use it like the Tim Holtz Distress sprays. If it works then you could cut out shapes with your cutting machine and make cards, party decorations other paper craft items. I haven't bought a printer yet trying to talk the husband into getting one. Like you I wondered what you could do with the ink so it doesn't go to waste.
First we want to thank you for your service! These are great ideas, and we will try them out. If we gain any information from doing these projects that will benefit our viewers, we will post a video of the project.
You guys made it look easy, but I am having trouble with printing a test page. I did not get the alignment print out or the option to choose the best print. I will try again tomorrow. Your video was helpful . Thanks
You can actually reprint the test page even after set up. Just go to settings-> print status sheet -> configuration status sheet. Be sure that the paper is correctly loaded into the tray (in between the two brackets). I hope this helps!
I wish I had seen this video before I throw out my original Epson bottles. Other videos said not to use them for fear or any leftover reg ink mixing in with the sublimation ink. Well looks like I will be searching for some empty Epson bottles online.
Sublimation printing is a way of printing where you print onto a special sheet of paper, then transferring that image onto another material (usually polyester or a polyester mix). The ink is then heated until it infuses into the fabric. When you use HTV the vinyl sits on top of the shirt sublimation leaves no raised edges.
Hello, I was setting up a brand new Epson Ecotank 2800 and trying to get it ready for sublimation. Soon as I reached the step after preparing, it mentioned it would take 11 minutes but before it could finish I received a message that there's an E2 scanning error.😭 All the website says is to shut off and turn back on, but it's been wasting my sublimation ink. Can you please help me or if anyone knows what I can do, kindly let me know, since I had a project deadline for tonight, but I'll just have to accept that it won't be met. However, I still need to resolve this issue, because it's causing me to waste value time and money. I really appreciate you taking the time to make videos to help others starting out, and appreciate any help I can receive pertaining to trying to get my ecotank up and running correctly. The latest is that when I try to turn it on, it skips the initiation step, but when I try to do anything it says printer busy, and then the same error message happens. I'm not sure if it's the way I'm loading the paper, because it doesn't seem to smoothly be able to be pushed to line up with the arrow where the printer tray is, since it's a rear tray. I also was in the middle of setting up the wifi network to connect to it, but I couldn't finish setting up because of the scan error. I finished trying to set it up on my cell which is android, and my laptop I'm using is a MacBook Air. Additionally, I was using brand new A sub sublimation paper and Hippo Sublimation Ink that mentioned it would work for an ET 2800.😔 I don't know if it's a printer problem, or a problem with the sublimation ink, paper being loaded, or air in the line, since I can't get passed this error code to even attempt to print anything.
We did not. I don’t imagine the amount of ink left behind on the top would have much of an impact on the sublimation ink. If you do decide to rinse them, make sure they are fully dry before putting them back on.
I followed the link to the ink and was reading the comparability with the ink and printer but the ET-2803 isn’t showing up in the compatibility I want to order it but don’t want to order the wrong one also if I do use the ink in the link would it do any harm to my printer?
That’s correct! This is because this is sublimation ink with a non sublimation printer. Any time you go against the “best practices” there is a chance of collateral damage. With the price difference of these printers and sublimation printers, even if you had to buy a few of these, you would still end up saving money.
HI! I did all that you did but the colors have broken lines with the test prints. I have cleaned the heads, also completed a power clean, and still getting the same results. This is a brand-new printer and Hiippo sublimation ink. Anything else I can do to fix it?
Hi! You can use any regular printer to print onto printable vinyl or printable heat transfer vinyl. You just have to make sure you buy the right material to print on. If you convert your Epson printer to a sublimation printer you can not transfer to cotton garments unless you use siser easy Subli, glitter htv, or some other method. Hope that helps!
I have Epson Et-2803, already put in Hiippo sublimation ink. I’m not very happy because I found after print out. It’s all not match colors from computer. I’m very disappointed!
Hi! Yes, Stanton said the same thing, but we changed bottles to use the Epson caps that are better at filling the tanks to the level the manufacturer suggests. This prevents over filling and causing ink splatter on prints.
