I love this bash conversion, so well done! Only thing I would have done was added either an Iron Warriors insignia or the stripes to the right pauldron. Just looked too underappreciated from the rest of the model in my opinion. Still a fantastic job sir!

@@breakinginferno6774 I tried out word bearers with daemon summoning, then I fought the sisters of battle. It was that moment I decided that shooting was best. I haven’t played them in a bit, they’re on the shelf until I actually get a codex. I guess I’m just a fan of the aesthetic and lore.

Personally, I would’ve added an Iron Warriors symbol somewhere and I would’ve tried to make it so the hammer didn’t look like it was floating by adding some more rubble or shifting the body’s position a bit. Either way, it’s a great looking conversion.

Was coming to comment this. Seems like there was a slight misjudgement in hammer length, since it seems like it should be touching the Imperial Fist, but it doesn't. Still great overall.

I agree, if the hammer was just a tad longer... Honestly when I saw the hammer and his comment about the dead marine, my first thought was to score marks in the armor like the hammer slammed down on the chest and broke it open. Now it is hovering there in mid strike.

I agree that it doesn't go heavy on the chaos theme but it does fit for iron warriors. Would have been cool to include the little servitor guys as slaves. They could carry the flamer and meltagun, even if they would taken excessive time to model.

The piece of cloth people keep calling a tabard is actually a surcoat. For some models it's more like a monastic scapular but here it's a surcoat. Tabard is that wide thing the three musketeers wear.

Like it takes more than a one click google search to figure out if something is a tabard,surcoat or monastic scapular but information on what swords are based on length is super fast and easy to find so it's more annoying when everyone gets the latter wrong.

I think one chaos exhaust port on the power pack, or using a Havoc’s laser pack and attaching that robo arm from the rocket pack would have helped sell “This is CHAOS” a bit more. And maybe hazard stripes on that bare shoulder?

Mmhh, no I don't like that tabard at all. The chevrons should have gone in the hammer's grip and as usual in the shoulder pad. The blue black you used as a base for the cloth was much cooler IMO.

"The current model is looking a little dated" now that's not the real reason you're converting is it Pete, we all know the Warpsmith was one of the first models to be produced in finecast and its my own personal suspicion that it and the og Dark Apostle were supposed to be released in Metal and never in the brittle flimsy resin they were released in. If you look at both sculpts you can tell their parts were supposed to be in a stronger material than they were, that terrible spiked halo on the apostle and the thin shaft of the warpsmiths axe would have survived so much longer than they ever did in finecast. It's a real shame as the actual sculpt (if you ever got a fully intact one free of bubbles) looked beautiful!

True, but Pete Was recreating the WARsmith, which is a different (and still metal) model to the WARPsmith. They just have very similar names.

Love the conversion. Understated and brilliant. One quick idea I had for the shaft of the hammer to give a bit more detail would be to pick up some 1 mm nuts to give it that IW vibe. But still great work!

I like this a lot, though for the Imperial Fist I would have started with a sepia wash then gone in with black for pin washing. Just warms the yellow up a bit.

He's absolutely gorgeous. IW are my favourite CSM army (of the undivided variety) I love the 30k look to them. I really hope they get some Primaris sized minis one day. I mean I could convert them using FW bits, but it would be expensive and time consuming. I really don't like GW's standard CSM aesthetic at all. It would be really cool to get some proper sculpts for stuff like IW and Nightlords.

Awesome conversion and paint job, but I think maybe you've leaning a bit too much on that chromatic contrast ;P The hazard stripes read more like Thousand Sonds heraldry. Don't forget that if you have equal parts yellow and blue, yes the blue will make the yellow pop, but also the yellow will make the blue pop.

Looks great, I miss converting models.. I basically gave up table top a long time ago as there was no one to play with and life went in other directions. I still have a few in a box, some converted.. not sure what to do with them.. I'm really not a table top gamer as I don't really have many friends and the one's I do are not even into this.. One big reason I suppose I never got really back into it.. I'm thinking about Ebaying my Bloodbowl teams.. think I still have 4 Skaven, Orcs, plastic Humans, and Chaos.. really the only painted was Orcs It was a mix of puter and pastic to get the 4 black orcs, and all options. I got out of it in the the 90's and had more mini's then, but just tossed them all.. maybe in the early 2000's I thought I would get back into it but never really did.. as there was just no one to play table top games with.. but I miss converting. This was a cool conversion. If I were to ever do chaos I'd probably do Iron Warriors.. or Sons of Malice.. So I found it really cool.

I can highly reccomend a small battery powered rotary engraver for those tricky to remove symbols. I picked one up for less than £10. It's only useful for plastic, and not great for true engraving. It's perfect for getting rid of nasty imperial symbols though.

Have you thought about converting the primaris apothecary into a castellan, my friend got one when he bought his black Templar box and I got to looking at it and replacing the arms, pack, clipping off the back holster, and filling the left holster’s apothecary emblem. Thinking of getting one and the primaris lieutenant for the arms, pack, and maybe the helmet if I don’t have one in my bits box.

I've got a great tip for those inset details, I don't know what the bit is called exactly, but I got a low speed low powered Dremel from Walmart rechargeable batteries 20 bucks and then there's a Little Dremel bit that just looks like a little metal ball on the end really tiny use that on low speed and you can remove whatever you want from wherever you want to remove it from with very little issue superhandy also size 15 scalpel blades are a must-have

Used this guide to help me make an iron warriors Sorceror using the black marshal, mk3 bits and a phobos librarian sword; the techniques translate really well!
