I lost over $80k when everything started to tank. Not because I was in an exchange that went belly up. I was just stupid to hold and because that's what everyone said. I'm still responsible. It just taught me to be a better investor now that I understand more of what could go wrong. In these days and times everything is shaking and at times shading! Even though real estate is high. I would like to own some land without emptying assets!

Merrill Lynch does our 401k for work and they also have the self directed option. You have to apply for it and they will set you up in a day or so. Then you can put funds in it from work or in your 401k. Just started this so not sure exactly how everything works but seems cool.
I'll be damned; I also use them for my work 401K even though we're transitioning to Fidelity later this year...is/was there a place online to apply for it or did you have to call them?
@@bradmeyer5542 you can do either but I did mine online. It was not easy to find but the chat will help you on there. You actually have to click on the beginning and it takes you to another page. That’s where you actually apply for it.
