Converting your car’s cigarette lighter power socket to usb 

This is my solution for adding usb power ports to my center console. The car I’m doing this on is a 2005 outback but this solution can be performed on most cars with the older cigarette lighter sockets. The stepdown converter I went with allowed me to run a power-only port and a data port on the same outlet but there are other 12v-5v stepdown solutions out there without the usb end for those who are looking for a power-only double usb outlet solution.
