If it’s dull dull it will take a long time with the black. It may even need sharpened to bring back a bur and then stropped. Also, are you using the sharpie to guide in holding the correct angle? What is it telling you? If your angle looks good by your sharpie then keep with the black awhile and it will get sharper. Too high of an angle will roll the edge over and too low will not sharpen the apex.
