At the time of filming due to a woeful shortage of British helicopters caused by pathetic politicians sending an army to war and not providing sufficient resources. There was also a cap on the number of troops allowed in theatre. The shortage of helicopters and need to use the roads encouraged the Taliban in the use of IEDs and cost British lives. Helicopters would have been far safer (I’ve been a helicopter pilot for 30 years and know how safe they are) Well done Tony Blair, Gordon Brown and John Reid. You sent the troops and stabbed them in the back because you didn’t want to pay for the war you started, then tied their hands with your stupid ROE. Shame the programme makers didn’t mention that the Force Protection and the JTAC team came from infantry units, not the RLC.
I believe they did start using air after these convoys as the convoys where first sent to deliver the bulk supplies and then they air would top them up
The fastest time Ive ever done a convoy to Edi and up to the green zone around Sangin and Kajaki was like 1week....... one way. Its the wild west up north!! baby! Op Moshtarak/Bangin Sangin. 09-10\11
Our brothers and sisters from across the pond. i got nothing but love and respect for you. You guys are some tough SB straight-up warriors. Wish yall the best, be safe, from NoRCal USA.
All that love back at you mate, it genuinely warms my heart to know that our distant family members across the pond feel the same towards you guys and girls that you do towards us. Huge respect to you all 🇬🇧❤🇺🇲
I can't cope She says!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 29:31 Relationships *SHOULD NOT!!* be allowed in operation groups of any kind. Shes constantly thinking of him, she'll make the wrong decision at a critical moment to save him. RIDICULOUS STUPID AND WRONG OPERATIONS SET UPS. (Edit) if relationships need to happen then they should only be allowed in camp/bases and lovers/interests should be separated when operations are live
okay mr marine, shes risking her life at the age of 20, hasn't been married, hasn't had kids, hasnt probably owned her own house, and is probably in her first relationship and you expect her to act like a disciplined dog, feelings are something u cant oppress in a human, the more they are opressed the more they get worse, eg truma ptsd, these things will cause some1 not to pull the trigger, and cause a wrong decision, not trying to get them out. honestly so stupid, learn a thing or two about mental health.
@@kang6088 wrong, if one of them dies in front of each other it’ll be worse than actually separating them into different regiments. Your psychological analysis here is shredded by emotions, anyone with psychological background would think of prevention other than allow emotions take over on a mission. The best thing for the both of them would be to work separately. That would be best for their relationship. Civilian psychology and military settings are polar opposite so your whole argument is basically non applicable here. Have you ever been on a mission even? You don’t want anyone this close to you on the battlefield. That is nothing but an unnecessary mentally gruelling situation on top of the mission. When you lose your comrades you lose a lot of yourself and if one of them comrades is the other half, what would be the mental of the other? Have you even ever treated a vet with ptsd? I would love to know your expertise on the matter please.
Thank you for your service, lads and lasses, ,, rest in peace to all the fallen soldiers, all the best for 2020, STAY SAFE, GET HOME SAFE, RESPECT TO YA ALL, 🌍✌💖
I personally wouldn't date a fellow soldier while on deployment. There's always the potential of danger that either one of them gets killed. The less you are attached the better you perform being a soldier.
Totally agree! It took me awhile but when my husband deployed to afghanistan would pick fights the last couple days he would be home for no matter how long he was due to be gone for, and I realized he did that because it made it easier for him to leave, and that happens more then you know.
Lisa needs to stop over reacting to everything. She certainly shouldn’t be placed with her Fiancée on the same patrol. That’s a huge failure on the army’s part
I don't think that crying after having you and your fiancee nearly getting blown up in the middle of a desert thousands of miles from your home is overreacting.
@Wiki what I'm saying is it's not her fault. I agree that they shouldn't be in the same patrol or even division, but she's not to blame for how she reacted in this situation.
@@philbigleys5031 They might have meet and got engaged on the deployment. There isn't really enough to make any conclusions, he might have pulled some strings in order to drive in front of her?
It isn’t as simple as you think. The military doesn’t recognise ‘engaged to’ only if they are married. I’ve been on numerous deployments where couples are serving together, even where one has been lost. It’s not ideal but sometimes there are no choices. Also, with regard to Lisa over-reacting, first off she is only human and secondly, although she’s supposed to be a soldier first, it never works out that way. She’s a RLC driver. I’ve seen infantry soldiers lose it in a firefight so it can happen to anyone.
ive seen the army doing training at night with these massive convoys here in the uk, its a sight and a half seeing a convoy that is several miles long!
"USA & UK bastards still rotting there since 2001" Because Afghanistan is so remote and pastoral it makes teaching easier for terrorists, less occupied minds, Afghanistan is extreme potential for terrorist growth.
They are only a RLC drivers all they have to do drive and winge. Join the frontline infantry and you won't see any couple only real brothers in arms bro.
Is it usual to have husband+wife/boyfriend+girlfriend etc in the same unit? None of my business what they do, but what's the military's position on it?
@@meganeloise8189 like I said, absolutely none of my business what people get up to, but can imagine that it could get complicated or even a hindrance if your nearest and dearest were next to you in a sticky situation.
Your right. It’s a horrible idea letting an actual couple go into combat together. It’s dangerous. How do you think he or she will react seeing their lover blown to actual bits.
As an American soldier, I have great respect 'Our Cousins'. This series is particularly good, as it shows the true unsung hero's of war, instead of the Abn/SF/Marines et al, all the time (I am former Abn.). God Bless y'all.
Yes, Thank you eternally for your service. Sending much love and respect across the pond to our extended family members in the United States. Greatest alliance in the world. 🇬🇧❤✌
Sky Reporter: Earlier this morning in Helmand province confirmed reports of the death of a female soldier serving on a logistics convoy after being killed by friendly fire. Witnesses said she just wouldn't police her sh*t and refused continued efforts to shut the fck up. We spoke to family of the lost soldier earlier but the recording was corrupted by interference from the continuous lighting and rain cloud localised only above their address.
Seriously though I probably would have shot myself in the foot to just get out of there. I would not be able for what she and this whole column did everyday.
I respectfully disagree.. Alexander the Great (the smartest general ever) had a special unit made entirely out of lovers.. they were the special forces of that time.. they fought like lions especially when their partners died in battle...

Could somebody who has genuinely served in The British Army explain how two people who are getting married find themselves serving in the same unit in a combat zone. I thought that was forbidden.
Same Unit, different roles. One may go to the frontline whereas the other might be on recon detail so being the Units eyes and ears. Hope that helps clear misunderstandings up
@@danh9503 These were both serving in the same detachment. I get the different unit but she was driving a truck in the same column he was doing force protection for.
Can't believe the old equipment we are still using, old fodens and leylands, and do we still rely on a guy with a metal detector to finds mines! Amazing.
@@eastlondon666 I thought that too,. Perhaps a wide weighted remote controlled equipment that can role with metal detectors attached, that beeps like a metal detector. I'm no engineer or designer but if it could be made and sold to them at a cheap price, they could use it first then have the guys scan after it as a secondary precaution.
@@skatatataatje he didn't say it shows ALL the harsh realities of a war zone though mate, you know? Seeing a traumatised female soldier after her near death experience is something I'd call a harsh reality of war personally pal.
this is why you should never be deployed with your spouse... it takes away from your watch.... it puts you brain somewhere eles instead of in front of you...
I have seen countless military videos and footage and this was the first and only time I've ever heard a soldier complain about just wanting to get to base safe cause they are tired and hungry and just want a wash. Are you there to just put in some hours and go home or are you there to eliminate the terrorist threat and secure your countries freedom??? The fact it was a woman makes no doubt in my mind as to the reason there are no female special forces units 🤷🏻♂️
@moonbeam Your "hero" is associated with the Guardian newspaper and his book was published by Yale university press - buyer beware. This is the sort of propaganda the U.S likes to spread about U.K forces. Also don't forget another villain was Gordon Brown who systematically starved the forces of money both for his own conviction and his feud with Blair. Yes, there was some sort of deal with Iran and the Shia militia but being "escorted" by them, I think not. What I suspect happened was that the army woke up to the fact they were being used as porns and were being expected to do too much with the resources available.
Hey they got at least one thing she said they have plenty of oil and LUBE hmm. But seriously thank you to all soldiers and their families for your service and sacrifices god bless
22:50 this driver lady is extremely Negative tbh if you can’t handle basic things like this or adapt to various situations you shouldn’t be in the Army find a different job one that makes you happy 🤷♂️
@Luke Delport I have a thought on how the spy drone may find these IED'S. They may be using a tech called Ly-dar. It is some type of radar that can actually see disturbed earth and underground. I have heard of it being used to find old copper deposits to monuments buried in the jungle for millenia. Just an opinion, what do you think??
I feel bad for the service men & women who went out there and risked their lives and probs suffering ptsd now and being left by the wayside by our government, only for our government to pull out in a way as if it didnt really matter in the first place. On a political level our government achieved nothing apart from the few obvious corrupt benefits for the elites and bankers.
They're not doing those two any favours sticking cameras in their faces during stressful situations are they? If I was Lisa I would tell them to go film someone else for a while.
Lol you think the cameras are the problem 😂😂😂 how about separating the two of them to different unit's since couples aren't supposed to be serving together.

That army Logistics girl at the start of the programme sasid the Taliban never understand the British Army never give up? but what she fails to understand is the Taliban know full well that the BRITISH BOVERNMENT will give up and pull the troops out eventually. That's the shame in all of this bcos the British Army are the best in the world imho but they're at the behest of their pay masters the Government who never have had the stomach for the fight. I watch Camp Bastian being torn down and the little bit that was left behind for the Afghan Army. The question I have is why didn't the army leave Radar & other equipment for the Afghan Amry to be able to use. The truth is the British Army wouldn't beat the Taliban without Air cover so let's not be stupid about all of this. The Afghan Army for the most part dropped their weapons and gave up. They don't have the brilliant air support that the British Amry had throughout their tours in Afghanistan. Let's all understand that much before we start calling them out. The British Army are well trained. I don't believe the Afghan Army is as well trained due to the fact the Western powers wouldn't allow it for fear they'd turn it on them in the end.. I can kinda understand that but give them the chance to keep hold of their country. I do not and nor will I ever believe the Western powers in Afghanistan could hold off the Taliban and others without the Air power and Artillary guns they have at their disposal.. Just a thought folks..
i wonder why the road warriors dont use the big hercules that can vitstand a yid and the zonar truck ????? thye use them one smaller missions so why not on these??
When a convey is "static" you need forward flanking support - preferably from the air. No excuse for allowing continuous leapfrogging by the enemy where IED's are concerned. Iether change the friggin' tactics or pour more troops in to contain smaller areas in succession. Best leave Afghanistan to its own devices rather than sacrificing our troops to a corrupt, useless cause. Yes, l was a soldier.
The convoy seems far to long. 85 vehicles far to extended if they were attacked front and rear it would take an hour to get from one end to the other. Does'nt seem anywhere near enough force protection vehicles either for a convoy that long. Would be a lot safer with a convoy half the size having that many vehicles gives no advantage in terms of protection when they are all strung out. Just problems get compounded with breakdowns etc.
I was in the South African army called the sadf but I was lucky, I was not involved in any scraping. Well done guys and girls- your services are appreciated by more peoples than you will ever know.
Tbh they could do with a vehicle that can detect MINES or ID a vehicle built with some kind of detection be much better than having soldiers walking in front
That young Welsh girl seems like her head isn't right for what the frontline military needs in my opinion. Lisa seems like a liability for those other lads and lasses. I don't mean it to come off as nasty or miserable I should add, just speaking what I see on here.
