I have the exact same Jetboil. Never had an issue!

It's a fantastic stove. You can't go wrong with the MiniMo.

Minimo is the best for cooking and not just boiling water. Fuel consumption is higher when cranking the heat to the max. However, you should try the same test using the Minimo on a medium heat level... Does not take long to boil water at a lower heat, and the fuel lasts longer.

We will definitely give that a shot. Thanks for the tip, and thanks for checking out the channel!

Truth....it makes a big difference....I have the regular pocket rocket and in careful tests I can boil 12 oz of water with 5.35 grams of fuel on medium heat with a boil time of around 2 min......not same parameters as this test but you can see its a big difference.

Great review. I have the Jetboil, I didn’t want the pocket rocket because it looks fragile, knowing how I am I’ll probably tip it over and burn myself. I don’t mind carrying a few more ounces. I can cut them elsewhere. I don’t bring a dish because I use the little cup that comes with the JB and I don’t carry the little folding stand. It’s useless

Does the Pocket Rocket have a regulator? I know the MiniMo does, and will work down to 20 degrees F. That's also why the MiniMo can simmer so well.

I'm actually not sure. It does have adjustment for the flame. but as far as a regulator in front of that, I couldn't say for sure. Safe to say that the MiniMo is superior if you need a simmer.

Yes, it has a regulator and works really well.

Except for windy conditions, which are easily shielded, the jetboil is a waste of money, weight, and space. I have the Primus version and after seeing this I never want to use it again. You have to pack double the fuel for a 4+ day trip. I've heard the jetboils use way less fuel to boil 2 cups of water when turned down to half throttle. I'd be curious on those numbers. If I had a gram scale I'd post my results.

I have Primus Lite+. 500g of water boils 4:50 using 4,95g of butane at room temperature. At full blast. It would be quicker with isobutane or blend. Slow but efficient.

@@bcamping1 that's great! It seems stoves are more efficient on low, with no wind of course. Mine is packed away so one day I'll run these tests. Other videos I watched shows the Jetboil to be 40% more efficient than the open flame backpacking stoves. This video doesn't show that at all.

@@samuelfox812624g sounds too much. There has to be mistake.

I see a lot of climbers using the jet boil....im sure the wind is one reason, do you know if they work better at altitudes...?
@Expedition_Hemispheres

I am not sure that they work any better at altitude, is possible. I can only hypothesize, perhaps having self contained bits and pieces is advantageous. Wind resistance makes sense for sure.

No way the mini mo used 24 grams

I'm sure it could be done with less fuel. Thanks for watching.

Slow it down! In calm conditions, I can boil 2 cups of 68 F water using 6 grams of fuel. My 2 cents.

There is definitely an opportunity for variables to change to learn more here. I think it could easily boil using considerably less fuel. It would be cool to do the test where boils are achieved in the exact same amount of time and see how much fuel is being used. Thanks for watching
