Hey everyone! Follow along with me as I cook several home cooked meals for my family. Most recipes are from scratch, but I'm not above using pre-made ingredients like naan or Nutella! Also, I'm not claiming that any of these recipes are specifically "Mennonite Recipes." These are just some recipes that one Mennonite made, one week in her life! Copycat Starbucks Medicine Ball:
1 cup water
1 cup Simply Lemonade
1 Teavana Jade Citrus Mint tea bag
1 Teavana Peach Tranquility tea bag
1 tbsp. honey
one pump Peppermint syrup (optional)
Steam water and lemonade until almost boiling.
Steep tea bags in liquid for 5 minutes.
Add honey and peppermint syrup if desired.
Stir, breath it in, and enjoy!
Tangy Asian Salad:
1/2 head cabbage or 1 small cabbage
1 c. chopped tomatoes
1/2 c. chopped peppers
1-2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
1 pkg. Chicken ramen noodles
Dressing:
1/2 c. vegetable oil
2 Tbsp. vinegar
1 tsp. Lawry's season salt
1/2 tsp. onion salt
Dash of pepper
Package of seasoning from the ramen noodles.
Finely chop cabbage. Add tomatoes, peppers, onions. Toss. Crush noodles and place in a frying pan with 1-2 tbsp. oil. Add nuts and toast together. After toasting, add it to the veggie mixture. Combine dressing ingredients and pour over salad. Toss to coat.
Italian Wedding Soup:
2-3 Tbsp. olive oil
1 medium onion, minced
3 carrots, shredded
2 ribs celery, finely chopped
8 cups chicken stock
2 cups milk
2 cups orzo pasta (or other small pasta such as ditalini or even Alphabet soup noodles!)
1/2 bag frozen ribboned spinach
For the Meatballs in the Soup:
1 lb. Italian sausage
1 egg slightly beaten
1/3 c. grated Parmesan cheese
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/3 c. Italian bread crumbs
Salt and pepper to taste
Chop veggies. Mix meatballs. Saute onions and garlic in heated oil until soft. Add carrots and celery, saute a few more minutes. Form meatballs while veggies cook and soften.
Add chicken stock and milk to veggies in pot. Bring to a boil. Drop raw meatballs into boiling soup. Add pasta. Let boil 8 minutes and then reduce heat. Watch the time. You don't want the milk to curdle. Let simmer 10-15 minutes. Add spinach. When spinach is wilted soup is done.
Garnish with Parmesan cheese. Serve with breadsticks or garlic bread.
Cheesy Garlic Naan:
2 naan rounds (garlic or original)
1 tsp. minced garlic
olive oil, salt, pepper, oregano, basil, parsley, mozzerella cheese
Toast garlic in a generous drizzle of olive oil over medium heat til slightly caramelized. Brush over naan. Sprinkle with spices and mozzarella cheese. Warm in oven at 375° until cheese is melted, about 5 minutes. Slice with pizza cutter and serve along side soup.

Speaking as a Starbucks barista, if you ask the right barista if you can buy like 15 teabags, they'll sell them to you for like $0.20 each - that's how much it costs to "add a teabag" to any drink, so usually, when people ask for a bunch of teabags we'll just hit "add tea bag" like 15 times! They'll be all nice and individually packaged too!

Megan here is another take on your Ramen salad. This is always a hit everywhere I take it Oriental cole slaw mix together 1-2lb bag of broccoli cole slaw mix 8 green onions chopped and set aside dressing mix and chill 1 hour before serving 1 c vegetable oil (i usually use 1/2 c and use any oil you like) 1 c sugar (again I only use 1/2) 2 Tbs soy sauce low sodium the oriental seasoning packet from 3 packs of ramen noodles melt 1 stick of butter and pour over 1 cup of slivered almonds and 3 packs of crushed Ramen noodles in a bowl and toss. Place noodles on a baking sheet and toast in oven @ 350 for 15 minutes until golden. After Ramen noodle mix has cooled mix with cole slaw onion mix. Add dressing about 1 hour before serving to prevent the noodles from getting soggy. When I take to an event I place the the ramen noodles in a separate container and the dressing in a separate container. Then mix together an hour before serving!

Ivanni is so young and I can't get over how interested she was in watching you in the kitchen. That was so heartwarming to see. Your soup looked wonderful as did the Korean beef. I have an old family recipe for my wedding soup but I will certainly try your beef recipe. Cooking can be fun. I LOVE to cook, my parents are chefs and we NEVER ate out and even when we were at our restaurant, that my parents owned, mom would make us the old recipes her mother taught her not items from their menu. The kitchen is my happy safe haven and my children Range in age from 20-10 years of age and they all know their way around the kitchen. I love your channel Megan!

Oh, Megan. Everything looks so good. I’m excited to try the soup and I know my husband will love that fruit dip. Another great way to use your beef roast is to put it into a baking pan with some taco seasoning on top. Roast until able to shred. Cut onions into really thin rings. Place into buttermilk and let sit for a few minutes. Coat with a flour mixture of salt, garlic and whatever you would like. Deep fry them in a small pan to make crispy thin onion rings. Take flour tortillas and butter one side to heat in a frying pan. Flip and heat the other side. Next, layer the shredded beef, some shredded cabbage, cheese, the onion rings and some warm bbq sauce, and cilantro on top. So so so so good.

I just try to base as many meals around what we already have in the house. If I go way under budget, I leave it that way, because there's bound to be a party the next week or some other reason to go OVER budget that week. I've heard it said that you can budget about $100 per person per month. But every area is so different!

My grandmother makes an Asian salad much like that but uses shredded cabbage... sometimes we cheat and get the bagged coleslaw mix because that’s super easy! Add in 1tsp of sesame oil to your recipe and swap the white vinegar for either black Chinese vinegar or Japanese rice vinegar it just bumps it up a notch.

You know, I've never heard of Italian wedding soup before your video! It looks fun! I'm going to veganise the recipe and try it next week! I love tacos and tortillas so I always make up my own guacamole for it. So good! Avocados, finely diced garlic and onion, salt, pepper and lots of lime juice. Yum. It keeps well too - I'll stick it in a tub and use a piece of cling film pushed right down onto the guac to keep it airtight to stop any browning happening on the off chance any is left for the next day!

I made the wedding soup tonight with a few changes, and really liked it! I have made a version of this many times before, but the spinach is actually rolled into the meatballs. I liked the creamy aspect of adding milk, but I added one cup of heavy cream instead of 2 cups of milk. Since I try to eat low carb, I used almond flour instead of bread crumbs for the meatballs, and cooked the orzo separately so my son could eat it his way, and I could have it mine. Thanks for the recipe!!!

I am from Pennsylvania also-I do the same w chicken broth, beans (one of each, just can not make the full leap?). Anyways, I love your honesty about how you “should be home cooking”-I felt the same way when my husband’s side had a large family & cooked a lot by scratch-we are also have many more convenience foods-sometimes, not always cooking at home can be expensive, if you do not buy the 1/4 (we used to) or do it often or link ingredients from one recipe to the next. I also 💕 the fact you listed ingredients in description box! Take care 😊!

you know how sometimes you have aspirations like meal planning or indoor herbs but you just not sure how to get there, like of course you kinda know how, but still the "water is muddy" on how to get there. Well, you have cleared the water for me, especially about meal planning and your herbs by the window. Making the Korean beef tacos today!! so excited! Also, your fruit dip can also be no-bake Nutella pie, crushed oreo's in a pie pan and then the Nutella cream cheese and whipped cream mixture onto the crushed Oreos, or Nutella bars if you want to use a 9x13 pan. p.s. its rich!!!

For the medicine ball teas: it looks like the main ingredients in the Teavana teas are spearmint, lemongrass, peach, pineapple, chamomile, and lemon verbena. Lemon verbena is sometimes sold by itself in tea aisles. Celestial Seasonings has some good cheap tea, check out ones that have the flavors you're looking for. Ones that sound promising are Sleepytime Sinus Soother, Sleepytime Mint, Sleepytime Peach, Lemon Zinger and Country Peach Passion.

Great video, Megan! I want to get back to cooking again but am currently laid up to heal my back that was injured. I agree, inspiration hits after you get to feeling good again!

Great recipes. I especially want to make the Korean beef tacos. Any tacos with coleslaw are the best!!

I would add ginger and garlic and sesame oil to the dressing plus soya sauce and a splash of siracha and add toasted sesame seeds and toasted wonton wrapper strips :) I add 1/2 romaine and 1/2 cabbage and shredded carrots :) and a bit of honey to sweeten it and lime juice to go with vinegar

I’m definitely going to try the cookies and the soup. It sounds delicious! I think maybe the reason you didn’t care for the cabbage salad is because it’s supposed to have Napa Cabbage ( which is more leafy like lettuce) in it. We had it a lot growing up and it was one of my dads favorites. 😊

Ahhhh! Maybe. It didn't specify. It just said a head of cabbage. I wanted purple cabbage for the cole slaw on the tacos, but Aldi didn't have it.

This was so fun to watch! I'm definitely going to have to try that dip. I also love making cheesy naan to go with soups. I think it is perfect for adding a simple side dish.

You can check in Walmart for orzo. Ronzoni makes a really good , a little thicker orzo, that stands up great in soups. It is the only brand of orzo I use. Hope that is helpful. If you find it, stock up. 😊

Loving the recipes and I am surely going to try some of them. It's been such a strange winter here and we find ourselves staying in a lot so I have been using my insta pot and making tons of food and freezing a lot. Love having not to cook a new meal each nite! Thank you for sharing! Love your vlogs! Blessings

Oh my.....Everything looks amazing! I thought the breakfast cookies looked good and the Nutella dip was a cool easy recipe. Those tacos I may try too. I love all your videos and it’s fun seeing cooking ones for different recipes. I think we’re all guilty of cooking the same stuff over and over. Oh yes....and I must try the tea also. Thanks Megan for another great video❤️

I thought it was neat the way you worked the sponsorship into the video. Also when you related that there was no white sugar in the cookie recipe...brown sugar is made from white sugar and molasses...you can make it at home. Great video...love your energy and enthusiasm.

Will be trying the wedding soup but will use beef or chicken for meatballs. You should invest in an electric kettle, much easier to boil water. A kitchen essential in 🇬🇧. Love all your vlogs!!
