Try cooking onions on a low heat in butter, when they're cooked add Garlic Salt & Pepper and cook your fish in that. When it is done, shovel it onto a slice of bread and cover it with another slice of bread. The juices butter the bread for you and this is the best and easiest fish sandwich you have ever ate!
Honestly dude, I just stumbled across this channel and it's probably my favorites. That food looked delicious dude, I'm in school right now and my mouth is watering lol but I really do enjoy this channel keep up the good work .
Thumbs up for your way of doing it. That was the reason for me to subscibe a few days ago. I'm not really interested in fishing, but I like nature and the ocean. Your videos are really enjoyable and relaxing for me and they make me hungry for fish everytime ; ) All the Best from Germany, Maximilian
Loved watching you cook! I do a sort of shake and fry. Bowl of buttermilk, small bowl of plain flour, sack of flour mixed with Cajun seasoning. Dip fish in buttermilk, roll in plain flour, dip back in buttermilk, drop fillet in bag and shake....don't stir...save that for the martini! Med heat until it looks like it's nice and crispy brown.
I love it Marty....recently diagnosed Wiltshire lung Caner ...nyou are an inspiration to all of us that can only fish thru you.....p.s .pleasequit smoking before it gets you too. God blessed marty
Oh, Al! I am sorry to hear about that. Be strong. I smoked for 19 years before I could kick it. It's been about five years now since I've been a slave to the cigarettes.
Funny thing is, this is probably my favorite video on youtube. The chatoic imperfect perfection of it all is just amazing haha. Just an average joe doing his thing like most the rest of us.
Hey Marty, I just bought a fishing kayak, I'm in the Louisiana about 30 minutes from New Orleans and I hope to be doing some fishing in hope dale and the surrounding areas. I've been to Tampa and did some fishing in the flats but it was from a boat. I'm also kind of a chef and the best thing about cooking is making it up as you go! I'm pretty new to your channel but I love it! Got yourself a new subscriber! Keep up the hard work! Tight lines.
We went out a few weeks ago and caught Sheepshead and Speckled Trout. We came home and fried them. I was surprised to find that the Sheepshead were the best tasting of the fillets by far. Then I stumbled on to your videos. I am now a new fan of Sheepshead and your Videos. You keep cranking out the videos and I will keep fishing under bridges with little Crabs. Cheers !!!
Lmao... good video. You're definitely fun to watch. All I can say is: Some men were born to fish and some born to cook. You are a very good fisherman! I absolutely love watching the fishing part. I was crying watching the cooking part. I've heard of "Fish-n-chips" before! I've never heard of "Blackened Fish Chips"! Keep-m coming.
As always a great video. You are hands down my favorite youtuber and you deserve way more subs its a shame fishing and other outdoors activities don't have a bigger presence on RU-vid but at least you are here always entertaining and making good videos. Thanks
My favorite part of the video was the swinging microwave camera shot. Great idea. I would watch a video of you grocery shopping. There is something fascinating about a regular common sense kinda guy making videos. I'm hooked.
Hey Marty love the videos I'm 16 and live in the Tampa bay area and recently got into kayak fishing I love it. I bought a kayak and made my version of a "poor mans fishing kayak" and after Christmas I'm going to get my first job and hopefully save up for a Hobie pro angler love the videos keep it up!
That's a healthy dinner you've got. I work in a hospital and doctors always advise their patients to practice healthy living, eat a lot of fish, fruits, and vegetables. Thanks for sharing your recipe Marty. I'm sure going to try that next time I catch a fish. BTW, you got a nice and clean kitchen considering you're a single guy :)
Love it.. Awesome...same bread crumbs I use in my cooking shows, that looked very tasty...beautiful dog...Great Cabinets ..Love the counters... they are awesome.... My wife loves your Kayak videos...she had to see what I been watching on youtube now she is "hooked" LOL she said they are the best on RU-vid.. like watching the National Geographic channel..she says.....I think I will be able to get her in a Kayak this year because of your videos...she doesn't fish but she is a photographer...now I have that expense..lol she wants one she can pedal ....Thank you.. Tom and Connie Highland Media.
If you want some good sweet peas try adding these things (I cook mine on the stove top though) put a small bit of flower and water, mix it together and put it in //and I really do mean a small amount. It make the peas more creamy than watery like it is in the can. second is butter, again use a little bit if you don't want your peas tasting like butter haha. last thing is sugar you can add as much of that until it taste the way you want it. I do this because the sweet peas in the can are kind of bitter to me and I need a little more flavor to it. Now lastly, this is optional but you can chop up some onions and throw it in there until it is cooked, it's pretty good stuff! Also if you like pork and beans type of things I highly recommend bush's best honey baked beans, I've never had to add anything to that, it was just that good! Great cooking by the way I love all of your videos, you have earned a sub :D
Looks great! My Parrot is watching and having a lots of fun not sure why LOL He said "what ever" in a low voice when you said you were double dipping the fish. I gotta tape him watching you. to dam funny. Thanks for the video great stuff. Jdee
May I suggest watching the you tube channels "fresh fish for dinner" and "deer meat for dinner". They have great fish recipes and cooking tips. Thanks for sharing your video as always. Very enjoyable. Gotta love our all year florida fishing.
Heyy marty cool and very entertaining video. That exactly how I cook my fish too. :) keep up the videos and maybe you should try taking the yak fresh water and catch new fish
I agree you made this fun! I like to take cornmeal and mix a bit of Zatarian's Lemon Pepper fish fry mix with it... Opens a whole new world of flavor! Best of luck to ya!
Thanks for the videos Marty. Finally got my kayak and hitting the water. Ever grill your catch? Just wrap up in aluminum foil with some butter, salt/pepper, lemon. Simple is always best! Really impressed with those countertops.
great video as usual marty. What I usually do is exactly that but add some seasoned salt and lemon juice. It tastes delicious!!!. By the way, if your ever on this side of tampa bay, I highly recommend clam bayou, its filled with reds and snook. Have a good day, Seaver
Oh yes !! Very entertaining and professional at the same time,i love it. You cook like me when i was young ,free and single !!! The wife would not eat something like that now if i cooked it for her......she doesnt know what she is missing !! The only thing i would change would be only a small can of peas...that big can will go in one end and straight out the other if you know what i mean !! Moderation is the key ! More cooking videos please i think new T.V chef is born !!
Enjoyed your vid! I guess there is satisfaction in catching your own dinner and cooking it up. And no, you did not make a mess. You should see me cook and the wake of destruction that I leave behind in the kitchen! Fish on! :)
I just finished cooking a bunch of porgies.. I taught myself to cook too. I came from a household were you had to learn for yourself. You did just fine and my mother cooked bread crumb and egg... She called it a poor mans chicken cutlet lol.
Awesome videos specially the ones where you catch n cook it! Can you do a catch n cook while your still out fishing? Like a campfire cooking of fish would make for great view
You know, I didn't watch this in hopes of learning a new method of preparing fillets. And after watching it, I would say that yours is a pretty standard method of pan frying fish. But none the less, I watched it...and watched it all the way through. You make some good videos; I appreciate the simplicity and the honesty. But just for the sake of contributing something of worth here: with sheepshead (and this also applies for reds, drum, trout, flounder--damn near everything I've caught and cooked) all I do is season fillets with fresh ground black pepper, some salt and either lemon pepper or maybe some cayenne or garlic powder and pan sear them for 3-4 minutes each side on med-high on my stove. Also, I use olive oil in the pan, I think the taste is a little better than veggie oil. I was not a fan of fish for many years, however now that's about all I do to my fish (unless it's a special occasion or I just feel like making a mess and doing the whole bread crumbs thing) and I enjoy them tremendously. Anyway, best of luck angling!
Also, next time, a little suggestion, instead of bread crumbs, use crushed up frosted flakes, and dump some hot sauce into the egg and milk mix.... makes for some amazing sweet and spicy fried fish!!!!
