Fowler gets a pair of gophers with his slingshot, so the bushcraft duo cook the gopher catch on primitive fires up in their tree shelter platforms.
There's only one rule for the 30 Day Survival Challenge: If you want to eat, you got to Catch and Cook it.
Greg is a self-taught survivalist from Canal Flats, British Colombia, who, since he was a boy, has read nearly every book on the topic. When he is not out in the wilderness, he is a professional dry-waller. He started his first bow drill fire when he was thirteen and spent the next forty years learning bushcraft and studying plants and edibles. He has even developed some of his own survival techniques and is a skilled hunter with both a bow and a slingshot.

Only one sequel? To be honest, he could make a whole youtube channel about bushcraft homesteading, including making a wild-plants garden, keeping wild birds for eggs and meat, and so on. And it wouldn't be surprising if he built a 2-story house with a balcony and a rain-catching roof using only what he can find in the woods. The ash would be saved to make cement and whitewash out of it, and resin would be collected and molten over a fire to be mixed with the woodash cement whitewash to make a waterproof whitewash which needs to be liquid hot to be applied.

I'm hopeful for a "one year review" trip to the camp. Even just a night or two to see how it's held up to the winds and rain. I can't remember which video or post and on which channel but something came up about how long the bank line would last. That stuff is the most compact and inexpensive way to take cordage 'to the woods' that I've ever been shown. I love the stuff! Any wagers on how much was used? (My vote is that they must have used 10 rolls but 3 were partial.)

Both my father and brother have 'repetitive use' injuries of their shoulders and Greg's cast reminds me of their sort adaptation to get the job done in spite of the pain. There's no doubt Greg has the knack for fishing 🎣 I'm just glad he can get it done no matter how it looks!

Since I am led by the Holy Spirit to quote John 3:16-18, He also explains through His Holy Word/Scriptures/Bible, that the word begotten in ancient koine greek (the original language of the New Testament) does not mean created or pro-created (as an english dictionary may claim), it actually means Unique and One of a Kind. The word believe in ancient koine greek does not mean to only have a mental belief, because even the demons believe in God, it actually means to fully commit our every thought, word, deed, action and motive to God Yahweh, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit (The Holy Trinity/Godhead) from Their Holy Bible. Love the gandalf beard. haha This has been an incredible show, and the only quibble I have is with the music. It really ruins the ambiance and the vibe of being outdoors to get away from the daily humdrum. I thought Zack had at least done better when he chose some rock music while you were fishing but that poppy "hey hey hey" music just left me scratching my head. Although I'm sad that you're closing this challenge up, I'm looking forward to seeing what you have coming up next.

Putting the log deck above the waterline is adding weight but not displacement. If you lash those logs at or below the waterline, you'll gain buoyancy. The weight of the wood vs it's volume in water weight (displacement) will give you its buoyancy (pos, neg or neutral). A 100 pound log that displaces 130 pounds of water gives you 30 pounds of positive buoyancy. Your raft looks about 140 pounds positive, which makes it neutral to negative when a man who has lived on a few fish and gophers for a month steps aboard.

Hey Greg, I just moved onto an island with 63 beaches.. watching your videos just made me WANT to fish, I used to when I was younger but it wasn't my thing.. but the thought of being able to catch and cook your own food seems to good to not do! Love your stuff Greg!
