Lou, if you ever add to much liquid to your mashed potatoes, grab some flaked potato mix and just add a little at a time until it get to the place you want it. I read about it and I added to much liquid to my potatoes that I needed for my Shepard’s pie.

This is an Alfredo sauce which does not need a thickening agent. It takes time for the cream and cheese to thicken. Plus when it cools down it becomes thicker. You live and learn Dan. Have a great day.

The better they taste the better we love them. 😋 You're lucky you didn't wreck your dish by adding that raw flour. If you need to add a thickener do a slurry on the side in a separate dish and then add it to your recipe. Just a lil tip. Looking forward to your next episode of cooking with Dan and Lou. Dan I think your gravy had that yellow floating around on the top was cause you added more olive oil , also the Parmesan cheese helps thicken the gravy along with the heavy whipping cream , and with 5 lbs of potatoes that amount of sour cream was just right amount ! Y’all are doing a great job especially since y’all only been cooking for 6 weeks ! 👏👏👏! God bless ❤️🙏🙋🏻

Hey Dan & Lou. I'm proud of ya'll learning how to cook. If you are going to make something from a recipe you need to do exactly what it says & don't add anything (Daniel, like flour). 😁 Once you feel comfortable & confident with making it, like you do with the biscuits, then you can change it up however you want for your liking. The yellow stuff on top of your pot, was excess oil. When searing or browning meat you just need enough oil to coat the bottom of th pot, if you put more than that, then once the browning is done remove all of it but about 2 tablespoons. What's left in the bottom is all of your flavor. If you want to thicken a dish put a tablespoon of cornstarch in a cup & add a little water, about a tablespoon or two & stir it well till it dissolves, then put in your pot to thicken the dish, this is called a 'slurry'. You won't have to cook it too long this way, but using flour you have to cook the flour taste out so it doesn't taste like paste. Oh & one more thing, be careful that your fire isn't too high when you add the garlic & don't cook it very long by itself because it can turn bitter & ruin your dish. I'm not a chef I just love to cook, but unfortunately it's only for myself. I've had to learn to cook myself & I have watched hundreds of videos of cooks & chefs & 'how to' videos. If you need any help with anything I have nothing but time. 😁😊👍🙋‍♀️💕🇺🇸

That's how I make my mashed potatoes and include salt pepper and a touch of garlic salt. I can agree it's the best mashed potatoes!

I'm so thankful they haven't invented the ability to smell food through the phone otherwise I'd be starving now lol.. and those mashed potatoes (with ALL that sour cream) are probably so tasty! Love these videos! (PS the cheese, half n half, & sour cream cover the dairy group, chicken covers protein, biscuits cover the starch, even the broth is healthy for ya so no worries!!! 😆)

Good afternoon Daniel and Lou. This recipe looked so good, the mixture of chicken broth, garlic, half and half and parm cheese and the butter just makes it very moist. I would probably use milk instead of half and half. As long as everyone enjoyed which they said it was good that is all that matters. Keep cooking and enjoying your time together with Lou and family.
