Perform ACCA approved residential load calculations in minutes. Cool Calc is a web-based software solution that allows users to determine what size HVAC units are required to properly heat or cool a home.
I really wish there was a clear video tutorial for doing a 2-story house with an unconditioned basement with a bonus room/bedrooms over an unconditioned attached garage. The few videos that do exist on RU-vid seem to take the easy way out and show the most basic 1-story.
Seems promising - I tried it but couldn't figure out - 1 where to put in the roof insulation specs, also couldn't figure out how to create a copy of an entire project to make a few variation models to experiment with hvac units as well as different materials. Lastly couldn't modify the external insulation to R12 - stopped at 6 I believe.
Hi Boe, I also responded to your online ticket, but figured I would post here as well. You have full access to edit the R-values of wall and ceiling insulation under the Construction Details -> Construction Feature Groups section of the program. We do not have a copy feature at this time (due in our next release). However, we allow unlimited changes to a project, so you can generate a report, print/download it, make a change, then download a new report for comparison. Best Regards - Bill
Under the construction feature group section you would select framed 2x6 wood above grade walls with R-21 cavity insulation + R-6 board insulation and brick exterior.
So I did a load Calc on a 1994 , 3,000 sqft house Room to room, and the cooling BTUs came out at 3.5 ton. I compared that to our current software and its calling for 5 ton. Did i do something wrong lol. That’s a bit off.
Its common for simple manj to be way off and size a bigger system. Like other said.. Depends on your specs that you plugged in. Allot of simple calcs dont figure in many extra factors. In my case.. If i use 1940 as the specs.. It will assume it is a leaky uninsulated house.
I was actually interested until seeing this video (came here from the website) - no offence or anything, it just turned me off. I think it needs an update to be more modern. My thought is, if the video is dated, probably the app is too.
