Love this collaboration with Deaky and Freddie....Deaky did almost all instruments...

Every instrument was played by John Deacon, Freddie only played the synthesizers.

Queen such a diverse band never repetitive just brilliant.

Dude, You are my HERO for reacting to this… one of my ALL TIME FAV songs! And, I hadn’t seen this particular video before… the maker did a LOVELY job. As mentioned elsewhere, this footage is all taken from Queen’s time in Budapest in the summer of 1986 to do a concert, which was a HUGE deal. It took the band about four years of getting thru red tape to work things out in order to go do the show… Roger Taylor joked that they’d be lucky if they even broke even financially on the venture. I’ve read comments from folks who lived there in 1986… They talk about so MANY would-be concert goers hitch-hiking long distances just to get to the concert venue, and how much it meant to the people that Queen came to do the show. I’ve read comments that they even STILL commemorate when the concert took place.🫶

Absolutely a killer bass line from John - THIS will get you out of your chair dancing OR like a chill pill, takes all the stress away. John & Freddie often seemed to be on the same wave length (funk, R&B, or dance vibe). About lyric videos - when you see the QUEEN LOGO, it's the official ltyric, studio, or live video. That's Freddie's artwork, including their horoscope signs.

Freddie sings the full song in falsetto… “cuz he’s a cool cat tapping on the toe with a new hat”. 😂 Check out ACTION THIS DAY live at Milton Keynes 1982. Great driving beat!!

Thanks, JMboy - this is known as a song where Fred sang entirely in "falsetto" - and also, that Roger (drummer) & Brian (guitar) were totally uninterested.. so it's all Freddie & bassist John Deacon... lol

Thank you so much for the critique on “Cool Cat”. I love this song. It shows the variety and different genres of music Queen explores and performs…SUCCESSFULLY!!! IMO, this song is so sexy, slow dancing with my guy, driving down the coastal highway in a convertible with my hair blowing in the wind, looking for some motel to stop and spend a steamy night. Freddie’s voice is remarkable, John’s bass for that sexy rhythm.

This song proves the band's diversity again and I love Freddie's super power falstetto. Pls, jump back in time and check out In The Lap Of The Gods (not the revisited) at Rainbow 74 and Roger will make you a surprise. 🐕

I still remember a review at the time of the Hot Space album’s release (possibly in Rolling Stone), in which the writer said of “Cool Cat” taking Queen “about as close to a street corner as they’ll ever get”… And for once (coming as it did from a critic), I don’t think he was wrong. ❤👑

This is a different song in that Brian and Roger were not involved. They felt it was not really a Queen band song and they were right. I do like it but there is no room for Rog or Brian in the song.

The video was highlights to their trip to Budapest during their Magic European stadium tour in '86 - it was a big deal at the time, as it was the first concert by a huge western rock band behind the "Iron Curtain" (the sort of blockade the USSR set up to cut off contact with itself and its satellite countries from contact with the West and its allies post-WWII). You can see Freddie picking out antiques (he loved antiques, but he also loved buying art for his friends - he sent a painting as a Christmas gift to Elton John that arrived after his death) and taking a boat tour. He even learned a little bit of Hungarian to sing a traditional song during the concert for the crowd, which they loved. There's footage of him rehearsing the lines. Sadly, the Magic Tour in '86 was their last, as Freddie started to feel more worn down around this time. He was diagnosed with AIDS shortly after returning home in 1987. About this song: It comes from the album Hot Space, which was pretty critically panned as well as hated by fans at the time. There's been a bit of resurgence and appreciation for some of its tracks, like this one (Under Pressure is from Hot Space too, which was obviously much more successful at the time), but the "club music" vibe really wasn't popular with the rest of the band either. Brian and Roger hated the very notion of this song, actually, so it was just a Freddie and John project. John wasn't just a bassist - he could play pretty much every instrument. So they worked on this one together. :)
