I had a Greco Les copy and around yr5 I had to get the frets filed because of the pitting I had done from my extensive playing of it. Played like butter afterwards. Loved that guitar.
Excellent as always Lucas.....I’m a huge BBS fan and hearing you kick into “Good One Comin’ On” put a big smile on my face.....The Greco sounds and looks awesome!
Great guitar! The construction is "original".The best Greco's were made during the 80's, they were made to the exact specifications of 59's Les Paul. I own a 89 EG59-70, with long tenon, a 2 piece body, 1 piece neck and Dry82 pickups. A real Gibson killer!
The sound with all three pick ups was pretty damn impressive. I would definitely reconsider a Les Paul if I could get one that sounded like that. Believe me, I have been searching reverb for a Greco for a while.
Interesting wiring system and aesthetically the guitar looks even better with the white rather than the black plastic parts and the control knobs are also an improved look IMO.
Awesome tone! I have mixed feelings about Greco videos showing how great they are, the word getting out. I've played a '79 EG900 modded with Dry Z's for about 5 years and I'd never go back to Gibson unless it was something really special. I guess let the world enjoy these treasures! By the way their strats are awesome too. Check out their Super Real strats from the early 80s.
When you were modding this guitar, did StewMac have the new 3-way toggle that could move sideways giving you an actual 6 way switch? This could have allowed you to have the switch wired like a traditional 2 pickup setup with the switch to one side and then flipping it to the other side would bring in the middle pickup. I would have wired it that way and then used the pots as a master volume with a separate tone pot for each pickup. What I do like about your wiring decision is the ability to blend in the middle pickup, but my approach allows you to quickly add the middle pickup without having to spin up a volume knob. Also, you can make each tone knob a push pull to allow each pickup to be split. Just a thought.
