Was coming here to say this!! No shade at all to paige, this is a general point- Japanese aesthetic is and has been really trendy so I've noticed that a lot ppl who find (non-japanese) asian items that are "cool" quickly assume it to be Japanese 🤦🏻‍♀️

This is probably one of my favorite gift guide vids I’ve ever watched. But also on a really important note, Wing On Wo & Co is Chinese not Japanese! All their ceramics are really great quality Chinese porcelaine with Qing dynasty-based design! They’ve been here for 5 generations now and is actually the oldest continuously operating store in Manhattan Chinatown :) They’re an active figure in the Chinatown community, so I just thought the distinction was important.

Those “Japanese” tableware are Chinese. Most of the floral patterns are from the Qing dynasty.

The best gift guide I've seen this year! Shoutout to a few more Chicago spots on par with this list: RSVP Gallery (upscale streetwear and hard-to-find limited edition stuff), Humboldt House (gorgeous curated collection of home goods and decor), and Epic Spices (a tiny little shop on W Chicago Ave with 500+ spices, great gifts for adventurous cooks).

As someone who has a free roaming bunny, I have had to really get creative with covering cords. He’s super good about not chewing on everything but lamps is the one thing I’ve struggled with. I’ve had to strategically place my floor lamp which has worked fine, but table lamps is what I struggle with. I’ve been trying to figure out how I’ll be able to have a little table lamp on my entryway table or somewhere where it wouldn’t be as easy to hide a cord. These little battery operated lamps are so cute and I swear are the nicest looking ones I’ve seen because usually they look like childrens night lights. These ones look pretty stylish and sophisticated considering they’re battery operated. Thanks so much for sharing these. I definitely need one.

This is awesome! I live in Rockford currently, but am hoping to move to Chicago in the next year or so. It is so rare to see an interesting and stylish person based out of Chicago. All I typically see are white marble aesthetics with basic decor. You have introduced me to so many cool brands, and I am constantly adding bits and bobs around my apartment. I find myself utilizing many tips on doing decor differently than the typical person. I used to believe that to open a space, everything had to be white with pops of color in the decor, but I think it is awesome to do a bold and dark room as long as it is done properly now. You have given me much more of a creative voice! P.S. I love that you promoted Sofar sounds, those sessions are extraordinary and I was actually considering getting tickets to the next one. Thank you! Loved this video!

Joe Freshgoods is pretty known in streetwear! I think Fat Tiger Works and COE are either co-owned or affiliated with him. Love how his work always returns to showing his love for the city and his community, while still making it accessible to everybody.

Wow really awesome gift guide. Haven’t seen one that’s this cool and focused on small brands. Usually gift guides are a bit basic like here’s a magnolia coffee table book 🎁 but, on the other hand, maybe this wasn’t such a good thing as I now have a $186 candle in my cart that I shall never burn???
