3:49 The manual says "turn the Idle end unit so the opening is facing away from the window". I'm confused by this, but looking at your video you have the opening parallel the 'window'. Not sure which way is best because yours seem logical and secure, but the manual says so otherwise.

I totally agree. I feel that it is more secure the way that I did it. I believe the manual is saying to do it parallel to the window in case you have the shade bracket mounted very close to the ceiling. If THAT is the case, you may not have room to slide the post in from above the bracket due to the lack of clearance. All in all, I believe the installation would work either way because once the shade is installed into the idle end, it is not going to pop out on its own. Do you think the shade could be installed so the sunshade runs horizontally, on the underside of a pergola? I'm curious how the wand would work.

If you are saying that you would want to pull the sunshade from left to right or right to left, I'm not really sure. There would probably need to have some horizontal support on the top end for that to work. I would be concerned that it would sag in the middle and you wouldn't be pleased with that result. Thanks for the comment, but all I did to prevent them flying is attach the bungee cords to the ends on the posts. Mine have been in place through very strong winds and holding. Good luck!
