Yep you should always look for chocolate shake if you see that pass unless you can get it for a good price to do a engine swap. And or have another motor for it already.
That engine is toast brother! I’m not a Ford fan, but the body, interior, and mileage of that car definitely makes it worth a used engine. Give it a second life Randy!!! If I remember correctly, that’s the same engine that’s in the crown Vic’s of the era.
used engine needs to be a 5.0 HO not jut a 5.0 there is a big difference. 94 - 96 F150 with mass air / 86 - 92 Mark VII explorer 5.0 with gt40 heads and so on. they are everywhere. crown vic engine will not work.
DUDE!!! You just got a sub!! Based totally on your down to earth honesty and awesome personality!!! Thanks for the truth!! I've been mechanic on small engine all the way up to 585 hp tractors. Nothing is more annoying than working beside a mechanic that seemingly knows EVERYTHING! THANKS AGAIN MAN AND GOD BLESS!!
Don't be afraid to part it out. There's many times what you paid for that car in parts, provided you're willing to sit on the parts for a little while, and put some time into advertising/selling them. No reason to lose money here, even if the engine is trashed.
Had exact same car and colour , great car sold it after 18yrs with only 59,000 miles on it ran like a top perfect condition. Sad to see car get so beat on or neglected.
I got mine for $850, it needed a fuel pump. I was lucky to get the key with it. But because of a salvage yard purchase although no damage it has a salvage title.
I had one of those immobilizers on my old 1994 Mustang GT. Easy to install and remove. Simply unplug the module from the panel under neat the dash, and reconnect the original harness.
Aint that the truth, my first car was a 91 grand marquis that i purchased when i was 17, it had been parked for 8 years but only had 70,000 miles. Owner changed out the water pump to help me out as she saw i worked to earn that money.
I'm a Dodge guy but for the first time I would love to save the mustang GT I wanna see it live again I've seen you do amazing work with cars I would love to see if you could save it
Hey Randy just a heads up the odometer gear on these from 94-98 were prone to breaking. They all break at some point and the odometer will stop turning so the car could very likely have a lot more miles than what was reported. The gear is very easy to fix just have to pull the cluster out.
Can't wait for the next Mustang episode! When I worked for a Ford dealership in Tulsa years ago, I bought a slick 1986 Gt from a customer that went through high water and ingested water through the intake snorkel. It had been setting for a long time and was locked up. Pulled the motor and tore it down. One of the connecting rods had bent trying to compress water which can't be done. I replaced the rod, honed the cylinders, installed all new rings, bearings, etc., plus valve job and drove it. Years later sold it to my brother who also drove it quite a few years. It sat for a few more years and he gave it to my son who is now in the process of complete overhaul. My son still has his high school '94 GT coupe that is the same color. We built another engine for it back then with a lot of performance items and still have the original engine. Bottom line, would love to tackle another, even at my age. Then we could have matching Stangs.
I like these Mustangs alot. My friend had a 97 Cobra. These GT 5.0's didn't really pump out alot of HP from the factory for some reason. I think this car seems too far gone, but GL, maybe somehow you can at least get your money back selling parts
I would reccomend just doing a 2v swap from a vic/later 90s gt those 5.0s have been known to have problems or going all out with a navigator 5.4 v4 or a aviator 4.6 4v
@@twoeightythreez Yep, put water in it and run it. Had a neighbor get a Camaro Z28 repo'd once. When the tow truck got there he backed it out of the garage and did a burn out. Blew the rear tires off then kept going on the rims until they started coming apart. Got out, handed the tow truck driver the keys and walked away. Funny.
As a former repo man I always thought it was funny how people did stupid crap like that thinking it hurt our feelings. The repo man is just picking the car up for the legal owner and could care less what was done to the car. I picked up a 99 Camaro z28 and the guy had taken the motor and trans out and decided to keep it. People don’t realize that when the car gets sold at auction the price is deducted from the amount owed on the loan. You damage the vehicle and reduce resale value you just end up owing that much more money and you still don’t have the car and your credit takes a hit but most people don’t understand that’s how it works.
@@rickb8808 What a classless idiot, you do know he will carry that debt for a long time or carry the bankruptcy, that crap doesn't disappear like his car did.
Matt G what's messed up is the opposite. People who still owe money on the car and spend a ton on aftermarket parts. I remember seeing one heavily modified golf be repoed, only to reappear a few weeks later. Idiot got another loan, and somehow bought it back. Well, not really buying of course, just prolonging the inevitable. Car would've been completely paid off, good credit standing, had he just kept it stock, and paid off the car. I think the owner eventually got caught stealing from his place of employment (Walmart). Can't fix stupid. Nice car though. Shame.
If the motor's shot, then depending on how accessible a garage is, picking up a used motor might turn this one around profit wise. Aside from the minor front end damage, the body looks stellar.
towed? why don't you have a trailer yet, this is your business, why pay to have cars towed or someone else trailer it for you. It's safer to just trailer every single car you buy. It also means you can go by yourself to buy cars. It is just a no brainer.
It's half the fun, trying to get mystery cars home from Copart. Also, a lot of his viewers don't have trailers and car haulers, so it makes it easier for him to connect to the average viewer that watches and says, hey I think I can do that too. He is kind of a dick, and I have learned to like him for it.
i just finished getting a 1994 Ford Thunder Bird fixed up... i had to weld plate onto the frame as it was rusted paper thin, it has an IRS and a 4.6L V8 that was only slightly changed then called the 5.4L Triton engine. i looked at its records, and it has 227'600 miles on it, but got a new engine or rebuild in 2004... I still have a bit of work to do just cleaning the old paint and rust off the underside of the rear end as well as some small panel work, then just parts replacement.
Like you said freeze damage would of killed it if it wasn't a blown head gasket. Love your channel, keep up the good work and if you are ever in Georgia, I would definitely buy you a 🍺.
Hi Randy. I have learned so much from watching your videos. I am on my 3rd copart car now, including one like this. 94 mustang gt convertible that I'm keeping. Thanks for putting these videos out and educating me on what to look for
I'm thinking that since it had a payment device on it its possible that the previous owner out of spite dumped water into the motor but it may have not been run since then so change out gas, and fuel filter and cross your fingers before you give up on it.
I bought a 1995 ford mustang gt convertible from iaa 5 years ago for $450 + $300 for the shipping and other iaa costs. Car had a hidden starter button. Came with offroad x pipe w borla mufflers. All leather all working. Drove it for 2 years till the transmission started slipping. Spent $1000 to rebuild the trans and sold it. Still made a good profit after 2 years. Still have the pictures and paperwork.
Randy i think you can get it to run quit doubting yourself..i would have flushed the oil out with some used oil or fresh oil..ran marvel mystery oil down the cylinders and in the crankcase..i bet it will run..it most likely will knock at the beggining but should go away after about 5 mins possibly maybe not even that long..
I bought a mustang that sat for 5 years. It started and ran fine. I drained the gas and used it in my lawn mower etc all summer. I was nervous but no issues at all.
Hey mate. Love watching your videos all the way from Australia. Here in Aus at least (and I've owned a few 5.0s) they're known to corrode timing covers behind the water pump which lets water straight into the oil pan. Just another possibility of why it has water in it. Also if left to sit for extended periods the steel parts of the fuel system corrode internally (lines, rails, injectors etc). That being said old Fords never die. Can't wait for the next one to see if it comes back to life....
I have worked on these engines I have had a lot of intakes where they eroded around the water ports on the intake and caused water to be in the oil. I wound first pull the plugs and turn it over . One other thing I can not see that the bearings are bad since it was plain water I just hope she is not cracked. I have salvaged engines with water up to the carb. so do not give up on her yet.
I appreciate you showing your "failures." The truth sells best. You will still make a winner out of it. I'll be watching and leave a thumbs up! Good luck! .
Those payment devices are a pain in the ass. Not my favorite color but the interior was really nice also I've only seen a few 94 GTs with a 5 speed. I can see a diamond in the rough. Great video.
Hey Randy just curious if you’ve gotten away from really inspecting cars before bidding? It seems like you keep trying to pull yourself out of near impossible situations. No hate, just wondering if you’ve gotten way too busy or just taking more chances? You still got a thumbs up from me!
So I meant just in general of actually going through the car thoroughly. I can see spending $500 or something leisurely but $1400 and not even checking the oil??
the water seats on the bottom on the oil (specific weight) and that water got out pretty clean of rust, so the engine it's probably not that damaged, obviously needs a full check, starting for the oil pan, and a compression test on the cylinders and coolant lines
Since it had a payment device in in... thinking it was messed with... ie: crankcase filled with water from a garden hose. DO the normal.. pull the plugs, squirt some light oil into the plug holes. try turning the crank shaft with a breaker bar... then the starter. Then reinstall the plugs and see what happens. Might want to check the compression on each cylinder while the plugs are out "if" you can get it to turn over. Larry
Larry Ketzel, this car didn't have a payment device in it. This was a theft deterrent device. A payment device wouldn't be key operated, it would operate with a code.
All 5.0 have 2 drain plugs my 1987 Lincoln Continental (Fox Body) has the same engine. These have problems with back intake manifold gaskets if not taken care of. These usually don't blow head gaskets unless poorly taken care of. I just sold an 1988 Grand Marquis brought with 32k miles and drove to 232k miles sold for 400.00
Well im almost positive it be longed to a mexican kid i worked with on sw29th in 2010. The front end damage is exactly the same. He ran into his house, i cant remember how he did that but i know it wasnt a bad hit. Damage on the front is exactly the same. I also know he got it from a small dealer on sw29th. So its very possibly the same car. Its been sitting since around 2010 2011.
Btw, if the motor is gone, i have a good block crank etc from an older 5.0 that had low miles. Ill give it to you to get rid of it. Block will need cleaned up at a machine shop and possibly the crank. But i took the block apart myself, and its obvious there was almost no miles on it when someone started disassembling it. I finished it.
Honestly, i cant remember the guys name. Otherwise id be happy to send you to him. Ill see if i can find someone we used to work with and see if i can find him. Its been 9 years since i saw him
I bought an 02 for 800 bucks the only issue was the ignition switch wires were cut causing a no crank and needed plugs and coils. Was a 4.6 also only thing i need for it now is some front tires and a windshield a serious win on my part.
I don’t know if the car will run more then likely not, but I find it to be a decent deal as a parts car or throw a bumper and fix it up and put a salvage title with a built engine and it would be a great car. The sn95 is one of my favorite power making mustangs
Get lots of batterys for it & electric motor, and turn it into first electric mustang??? Would make great vid's.. Or blow it up!! That to would be good... Keep up good work...
I would drain the oil w/ water and pull the plugs and dump a little marvel mystery oil in each cylinder. Let it sit for a few days. Then remove the pan clean it out and put new oil in it. Unhook the coil wire so it won't try to start. Use a breaker bar and socket and try to rotate the engine by hand from the harmonic balancer bolt. What your goal is, try to rotate the engine without it starting. This is done with the plugs out. If you can move it by hand several rotations, put plugs back in, hook the coil wire and try to start it. If it starts, it will more than likely smoke some until the marvel mystery oil is gone.
I remember the day it came home to Randy now he lives in a country house, and a city house. Proud owner of a 2019 Hellcat Redeye, and 2021 Ram 2500 long horn limited. He had a C7 Red which he traded it in for a Jeep, I like his videos too. He had the carport house, and pond house, the Three car garage. August 6 2021
With that low of miles, (if they are real), i dont think it would be a blown head gasket...It maybe more of a case of someone purposely f'cked with it...especially since their was no antifreeze coming out..a case of purposeful sabotage perhaps?
I see alot of low mileage Mustangs in southern Florida and they sell cheap off season 94 gt 5.0 red convertible with 42,000 mile and it was mint I mean it looked like it was just off the show room floor asking $4200 it sat for weeks before someone bought it I thought about getting it but it was an automatic
I advise to go and inspect every car from Copart start and let run as long as you want, check fluids, check placement of the wheels in the wheel wells centered and not twisted
I let my '95 sit for ~4yrs and it did fire up with the old gas. It didn't run great, but it did run. Gotta say I did not see that coming with the water in the oil. That was horrible! I'd be surprised if it wasn't seized. Fortunately these engines are easy to come by. I'd throw an explorer motor with the GT40p heads/intake in there to make it more valuable.
I bought a 1994 Ford Explorer XLT 5-door at an auction. my winning bid was $900 and with fee's came out to $1100. the vehicle was a new car trade-in in which the dealer wholesaled out.
That leather is in great shape...first thing to get trashed is the leather in those cars. Definitely accurate mileage. Stock head unit a surprise. Get the correct wheels...they’re cheap and would look much better.
After sitting that long, it could just be condensation water in the pan/oil. That said, odds are the motor is locked up with rust in the bores. Before starting, you should pull the plugs, look in the cylinders, and squirt some oil into each one. Then hand-turn the engine to break it loose. Then crank it without plugs to blast the rust and lube the engine without any compression load. If all that works, then put plugs in it and try to start it. If you cut corners and just try to start it as-is (as you did on the flood car) you risk doing more damage. Slow and steady wins the race...
I have no idea if it will start and no longer care since you made me wait until the end to drop your tease for the next video. I will unsubscribe ... NOW.
You do realize people do have to sleep sometimes. People think recording videos and doing editing is automatic. The problem with this millennial generations is they want instant gratification every time.
Ok bye lol so many shit talkers think it's so easy to make vids and come up with content everyday. So butt hurt over who gives a shit something to watch tomorrow friggin cry baby
I think it's shot honestly. Although there is a small possibility since the starter lock was engaged that it could have been a repo and purposely had water put in it. Small chance but just a theory. Hope it runs though!!
Throw a explorer engine in it with a cam and spring kit. Easy 275+ whp. The explorer engine in my fox made 290whp on a mustang dyno. All I did to the engine was a custom grind cam, springs, tb and maf.
That stang is 25 years old man, along with the state of the engine, I don’t think it’s gonna run. Definitely a good car to part out, especially that interior!!
a lot of times those payment devices short out after many years, and if you cut the wires for the antenna it will drain the battery in less then one day trying to establish a cellular connection, and if you are done making payments and the dealer deactivates the cellular connection plan the device will also drain the battery trying to make a connection to the network it was deactivated from...
You can pick up a short block for 300-1200 dollars. Long block 1400-2200 plus core charge. With that Mustang all put back together you should be able to sell it for 10K or more. Worth more then that 350Z as far as profit.
Im sure you already know but be sure to check the fuel cut off switch if it doesn't start! I had to do it on an old escort of mine. Hitting a large bump triggered mine
if memory serves me right there's a inertia switch on it usually in the passenger side kick panel or in the trunk behind the side panel left or right side not sure just reset switch and it should crank.
You may have rust in the engine, should scope out the cylinders. The previous owner (not dealership) may have thought the oil cap was the radiator cap. But it surprises me the dealership didn't inspect and drain the oil before leaving it sitting. I would just pull the motor and replace it, because really after that long with water in it, it should be stripped down and inspected, but it depend on how much the resale value is worth.
Body is clean enough, interior looks fantastic. If the motor is shot. Wait for a pick and pull sale and go grab a engine and swap it out. That is too nice of a car to part out. And a engine swap video series would be great fun to watch! Either way good luck! And we have ALL made mistakes! Thanks for the videos, wife and I watch em all.
Do a coolant system pressure test to see if there is an internal coolant leak to prove or did prove your theory before cranking it over. Fasted way of telling if coolant system is compromised. And if so these thing are cheap to fix.
Just letting you know my first 94 GT I bought at 17 in 2016 clean title for $1000 and a blondie crashed it in 2017 I've never been the same mine was Green with the peanut butter interior and believe me even though I'm growing up in today's world u can't give me a getting or a lambo to make me happier than that car ever made me. There's something about thsoe cars Randy the mustang enthusiast I bought it from gave me such a great deal only coz I was 17. I Have not found my happiness in life man that car made me feel cursed I miss mussy song much. Cruising down Atlantic avenue Queens to Harlem to bring to Queens everyday in. 5.0 94' in the 21st century man every tunnel I went thru I made sure the convertible was down and man did she roar.
They have a protection in them you need to lock the door with the key and unlock it. before they will start. had that issue with an 02 mustang. i also had a 99 mustang i bought from copart and that one had wires cut that someone took off after market stuff and i had to find the wires and were they went and splice them back together. both of them run but the 02 is a parts car. both are GT's but have the 4.6lt
