Blame the insurance company for declaring something totaled just because they use dealership labor and OEM parts and idiots with 0- mechanical knowledge to own an expensive car and not know how to repair it. 90% of the cars here are all minor repair work that could be done over a weekend and run and drive with no problem. I've fixed cars with my own labor and $400 of parts that an insurance company said would cost $3,700 to repair. I used used parts and haggled with the sellers on eBay to take a few bucks off the price and got them to ship it as cheap as possible. Parts too big to ship I found at a junkyard. Start simple first if you want to learn mechanics repair. Find a cheap common sedan, it's good practice and easy, and when fixed up, will sell quickly. Then you can work your way up to newer cars. With new cars being so computerized, you need to have the battery out of the car to work on them so you don;t short out the computer, that's the main risk, and then expensive cars like these have immobilizers that have to be disabled in a certain order before working on the car otherwise it will be like Ft. Knox.
