I just returned from a trip to Copenhagen🥺💔 I expected it to be more grey and depressive, but it was very cute and colourful actually. Also, super clean, the metro is also clean and quite empty.

Well said Kaja as there are no perfect cities or even countries. We need to know the good and bad sides before deciding to move to any new place. Moreover the hometown comfort is so hard to get in any new place.

I think Copenhagen is a great city and excellent for students especially, but I also deeply believe that Denmark has so much more to offer beyond Copenhagen and so many unique places like Rubjerg Knude Fyr, Bulbjerg, Råbjerg Mile, Bornholm and so many other places 🙂 Not to mention all of our castles and nature that is outside of Copenhagen 😀

If I may add one thing. The driverless Metro have now completed the "cityring" and that really opened the city even more up. No timetable needed since it departs every 3 or 4 minutes. If I were a tourist I would consider simply spending a "discover Copenhagen day" by using the metro as a hop on hop off possibility. Usually the Metro stops are at an areas "square" or just by. The combination of having a bike and the metro have made even more citizens dropping their own car and just rent one in one of the many car pool membership clubs popping up. There are some app based ones tourists can use as well but I do not personally have any info of them, just saw another video a few months ago with a tourist using an app to rent a random car without any papers or personal contacts/contracts etc.

I have a brother who has been living in Copenhagen for over 10 years now. My Family is British-Norwegian, but I’d also really like to move to Denmark. I find the UK to be extremely draining on my mental health and authority figures are awful in so many ways. I want to live by the water and enjoy the low-rise beauty of Danish cities 😌 I’m used to weather like this so that shouldn’t be an issue.

After Brexit that are harder than it has been. Short story are that you have to have a job earning a decent wage and can be self sustained from the get go. The long story are much more complicated and can change. Those Brits that already lived in Copenhagen before Brexit have had a few administrative task to follow but if they did they had an easy hand from the Danish authorities. EU citizens can stay 90 days without any reporting as long as they can take care of themselves. IF you are a skilled engineer, nurse or doctor you would have no problem getting a job fast here right now (end 2022). We have so many highly skilled companies so most high skilled engineers from EU/UK have possibility to get a job relatively easy.

As a home born Copenhagener, I don't think many people, even younger Danes born in Copenhagen, can appreciate how different Copenhagen was before the 1990s. Many areas in Copenhagen, where people love to hang out today, were heavy industry or extremely run down areas before the 1990s and definitely before the 1980s. The worst thing about Copenhagen today is that it is ridiculously expensive but on the other hand, for me who grew up in Copenhagen from the 1960s to the 1990s, Copenhagen feels much safer and cleaner today. However, this will always be a subjective opinion. I left Copenhagen and Denmark in the 1990s, not because I wanted to but because that was where my career took me. In the meantime, I have worked and lived on 6 of the world's 7 continents and today, I actually would like to return to Copenhagen, the city where I grew up. It's not perfect, it never was but it's all in all not a bad place.

nice video. I spent the first 25 years of my life wanting to get the f*** out of my hometown, of Sydney Australia. I spent the next 12 years living overseas in UK, USA and Europe. Then realising that the grass is not always greener. Back in Sydney now, and loving it. But wouldn't trade those 12 years for anything!

No cars, just bikes and public transport. Something we see more and more all over Europe. Moment… you are 35 and have 2 children. Girl goes to gym class twice a week. Boy does judo and soccer training during the rainy working week evenings. Match on Sathurday 10 km other side of town. Girl goes to scouting on Sathurday. Shopping in between. Sunday family outing, afternoon visit family in other town. Still no car? You are not more 30 but 75-80, living in a suburb. Shopping, pharmacy, dokter or hospital visits, picking up the grandchildren from scouting or soccer. Still no car?

Idk, just returned from a trip there and I'm absolutely disappointed. The main reason I wanted to go was to eat pastries, chill and see why it's been named 2nd most livable city in the world. We arrived on wednesday at around 7am and went to the center to have breakfast. We started walking around at 10 am, by 3 pm we have basically seen all the slots and borgs and parks and whatnot and I thought "Wow... we still have 5 more days". It's basically just a boring Amsterdam, I'm sorry 😅The weather changed from burning hot sun to wind to sun to rain storm within minutes. Some cashiers did not say a single word to me, the food you get at supermarkets is so below the European average but cost twice as much. And the pastries were soooo sweet. Everything just tasted like sugar, I found out I don't like cardamom (that was a real bummer) and overall I think German, French and Italian bakeries are much much better than Danish ones. I found my peace at the end but I cannot imagine autumn or winter there, it must be so depressing. All in all I think this city is a total scam, I'm sorry! Like... it has no right to be that expensive 😂 the most boring capital in the world.
