Greetings! Thank you for the new video and for getting my thoughts whirling again. Congrats on starting your upcoming new job, too. Here's hoping it turns out great and you'll do really well at it! Your discussion of grad school made me sit and ponder about the "time and change shock" I myself would experience if I was to take classes again. I earned an Associate Degree In General Studies at the local community college in May, 1993, then took a couple of classes over the next few years to pick up new skills and to get me socializing again. The last time I was in a classroom was in 1998, so it's safe to say there have been radical changes over the last 26 years. I can see myself showing up on the first day of class today with a paper notebook, a pen and pencil and a battery powered calculator. Everyone else probably would have a laptop, a smartphone, an iPad, all gadgets that I've never owned nor operated. Talk about someone who hasn't changed with the times! However, I'm not resistant to change that brings about progress. The changes I don't need are those that are being made just so that current policies, products, conventions and everyday living are seen as out of touch or no longer with it. There! That's telling it like it is! But hey, thanks again for your honesty and courage, along with provoking my thoughts and letting me put them into words. TTY before too long!

Despite growing up with all this technology, sometimes I find myself missing the feeling of taking out a pencil and a piece of paper. We sacrifice simplicity for convenience, and maybe that's okay. But it makes me think: what will things be like 20,30,40 years from now?

@@brisbreathing Good evening! Thank you for the feedback. You're right, the pencil and paper have definite advantages, such as needing no power source or battery replacement. Nor do they set off detectors at the airport ha-ha. This may sound morbid, but I've also been wondering what the world will be like in another 10 or 20 years. With me pushing 70 I've begun thinking about what I can do in the time remaining to brighten someone's day or to leave a happy memory after I'm gone. Something simple like installing an upgraded light fixture with a three prong outlet in the neighbor's basement might seem like nothing today but it'll probably still be working and offering convenience for years to come. Well, now to take a neighborhood walk and see what's what. Thanks again for writing! TTY soon!
