That’s what I thought. You probably couldn’t use the entire pattern. I was looking for the “Hersey Kiss@ pattern. Thank you for taking the time to respond. Stay safe.
Nice hatband. I just killed a small den of these in the front yard at my mothers. 11 of them so far. After 8pm you practically trip over them. I’ve let them cure in the solution for 2 weeks and it’s about the drying stage now. My mother wants a hatband so this video helps. She wants the scales left on so I’ll probably coat it with something to help protect them and give them that sheen. I’m going to try to add some eyes in the back so it can be laced with leather. I like the width of yours, though I hate to lose so much of the skin/detail. I’d like to know how it’s holding up a year later now. Very nice for sure.
David Harness Despite being absolutely saturated with sweat regularly as I work in it here in the South, it’s still hangin tough. The skin itself has faired better than the suede. The band has curled a bit on top & bottom but the skin is still bonded to the suede & looks decent. All the stitching is still intact as well. I hand washed it really well once to remove the dirt, sweat & grime but it has still not given up the ghost. The hat band may outlast my hat itself. Gonna do a black rat snake skin next. Should be able to do two bands as the skin is over six feet long. Good luck on your project. You’ll have to let me know how it turns out.
I’m looking into getting a white used belt and roughing it up. Been looking in goodwill for something cheap the right width. Maybe try a clear leather sheen for your new hatband to help prevent moisture. Might even be able to use it in the copperhead band still to protect it
Ariel Cortez been keeping things on the down-low, but I moved & no longer have my avocado trees, since they were planted in the ground. I did however leave with several bags full of delicious avocados that lasted a couple months of good eatin... It’s too cold during the winter to grow avocados where I’m at now until I build a greenhouse so I’ll have to forgo growing any more heavenly green fruit until then. Thanks for asking & have a blessed day!
Your hatband looks great. The video would have been more helpful if it was of you actually making a hatband, instead of explaining the process using pretend suede and pretend snakeskin, etc.
Good job tanning looks like. But that sure looked like a corn snake to me, unless where your at the markings are totally different than the states I’ve lived in where copperheads live, IL, TN, MO, NC. Like you accent, keep killing, I really don’t blame you for killing where your kids play, I would have as well.
