Same. I was homeless for about a month and would chill near a little waterfall out in the woods on a big smooth rock that wasn't too uncomfortable. Trees shaded the area and the mist kept it cooler. Never catch me under a bridge, that's for sure.

Locations like this are restricted because of protecting the wildlife and native plants. Being in places that isn't designated for camping can really disrupt the wildlife.

Cities, towns, buildings, factories, military bases etc. disrupt the wildlife, native plants etc. way more than a tiny group of people living in a small camping site in the woods. How are they disrupting the wildlife? I mean really? The wildlife come to the cities and towns anyway. Deer, bears, foxes, moose, mountain lions, squirrels, rabbits, bobcats, chipmunks, birds, reptiles, insects, etc. all make appearances in towns/cities.

@@sopranosfan11 it means that the places that the law enforcement and game commission have set up as national parks are that way in order to reserve land for the wildlife so they at least have land for themselves since populated places where us humans live is too dangerous for the animals. The parks are made to preserve the wildlife so they don't go extinct.

@@misterfields87 sorry to hear that. I have a good friend who struggles to work because of his record from when he was young. I don't see why employers do that. It's the ones who DON'T have any kind of record you have to look out for. Most people who have been locked up are very honest and hard working if for no other reason than they don't want to go back. I look at it like you've paid your debt, why keep punishing you? I hope you have better luck in the future. And yes, I know people too who live on the land and never leave a mess like you. The people in the cities fill the jails and keep people working in the “justice” system. They can’t profit off the people that live in the woods as easy. People who live in the woods generally aren’t hopeless and are just fed up with this crappy system of low wage jobs and high rent. Living on the sidewalk is someone just plain giving up, and that hopelessness can be used for profit. This system is sick.

I did those when I was in my twenties, and barely made enough to pay the weekly fee. In my 40’s now and would never go back to that. If I become homeless again I’m going off grid.

Seeing people camping in a state park illegally because they can't stay permanently in any campground. This hurts my heart. Times are tough all over and I thank God for what I have and the roof over my head as well as the food in my stomach. This is the type of situation that makes me wish we had a socialized system for this. I know we do but with the amount of people scamming it they can't give out as much as one would need to survive and it's just plain sad. If this was 100 years ago no one would have cared they were there. Also, 100 years ago, if they weren't allowed to be there they would have been shot on site. It's as if the system has always been rigged against the poor.......

This is the perfect explanation of true law enforcement and what it’s about. It’s not about helping it’s about investigating and figuring out if they can fine or ticket them. As soon as the son said he lived there that gave them all the ammo to start writing tickets. He knew it too that’s why he shut up then the cop threatened to bring in a K9. They should have had a dependable trailer and truck and just moved around inside the Forrest every couple weeks it’s a pain but if u live in any vehicle ur not staying stationary for long.

Reminds me of my wife and i just a couple years ago. We were living in a 24' trailer, out in the woods of Ontario, Canada. Some locals saw us during hunting season and called the cops. However, the area we were camping on was my legal mining claim, lol. I hope these folks figure out a legal way to do things.

@mjgII the problem with that is whoever owns the land will rent it out for it to be mined and they will also want part of whatever profits you make out of whatever you mine, So you will have to be busting your ass every day with heavy equipment to " just live out on a claim "

That one cop wa an absolute prick. He was happy as long as he could talk down to them but as soon as the one guy said he wasn't talking anymore, the jerk starts in about bringing in a police dog. All that after the other cop assured them they weren't doing that. There were issues with how these people were living but we are being priced out of traditional homes and these people had clearly went unnoticed for a while. The government is not your friend, that includes cops

A good percentage of people are just 1 or 2 lost paychecks away from having to do this. It seemed like the cop was just trying to get them to admit that they were going thru some hard times. Its not hard just to say, "just pack up and clean up, we dont wanna see you here when we come back in a week". They seemed pretty decent, not disrespectful, belligerent, laying around drunk, no hard drug evidence, she aint got any black eyes....just give em a break.

smarten up people, state parks are two-week maximum, but national parks are a full year! The rainbow coalition knows what's up, they make camp in a national park early in the year and actually plant things like watermelons that they then harvest later in the year before finally picking up and heading to a new park. Their yearly gatherings can leave a mess but that many hippies all in one place has never made any place cleaner.

I use to travel with the rainbow family. We’d stay anywhere from a couple weeks to months then stay on one of the guys farms during the winter on school buses that were gutted out. Nationals and stuff everyone from different states meet up for a much shorter time, like a festival gathering basically. Best times of my life..
