As a panda express employee for over 3+ years 1. We still have this at many locations 2. This *technically* is missing the stir fry sauce we use to give it the spicy flavoring, but I suppose the chili vinegar and soy sauce is meant to supplement that. 3. We use ginger + garlic, not just ginger.
My local panda doesn't have it anymore but one 5 miles away does. if you go on their website you can look at other pandas near you and see which ones have it.
Girl you know you can just buy more right? I mean make it yourself and save money, but what’s “they never give me enough”? Lol they’re not giving you anything! You’re buying it 😅
Just made this recipe tonight for dinner, my dad has been craving it for a while and since we don’t have a Panda Express near us I decided to make it at home. For the chili vinegar I used chili flakes since we just ran out of fresh chili, worked perfectly. Made everything else the same and it turned out so good my father said it’s even better that Panda Express itself. So dear Tess, thank you so much for this simple and delicious recipe🤍.
Did you use the chili flakes to infuse the vinegar with heat? Or did you just add vinegar and chili flakes to the chicken when the recipe called for it?
I've seen probably 5 different "This is Panda Express!" black pepper chicken recipes, but before even tasting this I can tell this is the one. If it is, I'm going to need a bigger wok........ I'm going to make about 100 pounds of this.
I would have added, right at the end, 1 spoonful of oyster sauce, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, cook 1 minute until taste of soy sauce tastes cooked, then mix into veggies and serve. After you take it off of the eye, then you can drizzle sesame oil over it. Do not cook sesame oil.
Just made this and it was delicious! I didn't have the coarse pepper so I used white pepper plus a little regular black pepper and it was perfect. I didn't have any vinegar. I'll definitely make this often! It was delicious!
Oh my. I adore fresh pepper. I haven’t bought preground pepper since the late 70s! No wonder it was once recognized as the worlds most valuable spice. ❤️
I made this tonight for dinner and it was good but it does not taste like the Panda Express black pepper chicken. The black pepper chicken at PE is more saucier and flavorful. This is missing something. Forget about making the chili vinegar. That is not necessary. Just use rice vinegar. Just cook the chicken, add the veggies, add the vinegar and soy sauce and your done. No need to take out the chicken, then cook the veggies, and then add back the chicken.
I am anxious to try this! thank you so much for your insightful explanation about the vinegar, the black pepper and the temperature for cooking properly!
Omg I Just Made This Cause It’s My Fav Side When I Order Panda. So I Added Chili Flakes Instead Of The Red Chili Pepper And OMG AMAZINGGGG!!!! Taste Just Like Dish If Not Better!!! TYSM!!!! 😍😍😍😍🥺🥺🤤🤤
That looks like my wok. Thanks for the recipe. My mother used to make this dish for me when I was a kid. Cant wait to tryto this recipe! For stir frying I like using my portable induction stove. It gets the wok very hot.
Made it a couple of nights ago. It was a hit with the family. Couldn't find chili's at local Walmart. Had to substitute with jalapeño. Hard-headed and a little negligant when it comes to timing so vegetables weren't as crunchy as they should have been but still delicious. Next time I'll be more careful with that celery but thanks for the great recipe. 🤗
You need to add the entire 1/4 cup of the vinegar to get the flavor, following the recipe with just a few TBspn's leaves it tasting like plain chicken.
Hi Tess I was looking for this recipe for some time I found yours it looks yummy so I subscribed you, thx for sharing & sure I’ll make it bc I love black pepper & chicken. 👍👍👍
Great recipe! Thank you so much. Can't believe how important the vinegar made this taste. Couldn't find a fresh chili so I used a serano. Look forward to trying more of your recipes.
Chicken breasts taste better tho, they can be tender and juicy , just don’t cook them on high heat and they don’t have that weird taste thighs do Also put cornstarch after marinade is soaked into chicken
That looks very very delicious I am going to try it thank you for sharing the video I am so going to go for this because that is my favorite Chinese dish
