I just finished a ranged playthrough and the upgraded polished gold crystal ring turned out to be better than the polished version (once you get them to the same item level). Obviously there's a lot of math to be done when set bonuses affect crit rates. But in general they were quite close, or the basic ring was better.

Same for the Copper Cross Necklace. The upgraded lvl 19 uncommon variant performs better for my build, than the lvl 19 polished version

Some of the regular items have a higher stat when fully upgraded than the polished version. The benefit of polished version are the extra stats, just a thing to note for min maxing your build.

This is awesome, didn't realised you get an added extra stat i thought it was just a better version of the original so I avoided this perk, Im going to have to respec crafting into this and grab afew of these.
