I got one of these after watching this review. It's a great homage. I'm really amazed by the price x finishing. I don't know why people are not reviewing it. Thank you for your great reviews!
@@EscapeWheel awesome- did you manage to get the 2021 (or whatever the newer edition is) ?. I checked the link in the des, but I’m worried about being sent one of the old versions; where did you get yours?
I got the Corgeut on Aliexpress sale for £42 I couldn't resist at that price. I've got to say it's a great little watch. I love the look of it. I owned an old Speedmaster Midsize and I prefer the size on this. Always thought the full size Moon watch was a bit too big for me. My midsize automatic broke and was too expensive to fix. I won't be having the same problem with this. I found the bracelet easy to size. I don't really like butterfly clasps but it's got a really solid snap and the bracelet is very fluid. I brushed out the polished links by taping it to a bench with double sided tape and using a green dish pad. Brushed the whole bracelet and the sides. It looks much better now.
The second version is much better than the first version. It looks awesome on the metal strap, but I have two issues, the brand name and why could they not align the second hand. Having said that, for the price, I guess we cannot complain.
The second hand is soooo marginal it doesn't bother me....having assembled a watch before, I can see how it's not perfect. But yes, at $55 it's still great.
I have an Original Omega Speedmaster 1963 Pre-moon Cal. 321, the dimensions are SO close, Mine is: Width 42mm, Lug to Lug 48, Thickness 14.5mm, bracelet is 20mm. Just in case anyone wanted to know.
$57 for a speedmaster homage with at mecca quartz and a solid end link, solid link bracelet is pretty good! Pagani's mecca quartz with the same specs less the weird bracelet goes for around that much nowadays, this is more better value for money. Great video
Personally I'm inclined to spend a little more on watches that have better specs. I believe the Phylida has a sapphire crystal and of course it's a litte thicker to house that movement. The mineral crystal on the Corgeut on the other hand is strongly domed or top hat, which is why it's exposed and even more prone to catch scratches. So the watch may look nicer at first glance but it won't keep it's beauty after some wear & tear
@@ARCIPRETT77 see my other review of that one (link in description) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Krfxm6CCvIM.html It's an AliExpress unicorn...coming in to stock and going our a few minutes later
A little poly watch and the crystal is back to as good as new…..I hardly ever get scratches on my watches, but when I do, it’s not to difficult to fix. I used to only buy watches with sapphire crystals, but I quickly got over that, once I realized it is pretty easy to rectify those issues. As much as I change watches each week, I’ll probably never get a single scratch on this new Corgeut Speedy. It’ll still look new ten years from now. I take extremely good care of my watches.
Another great review! The marine nato pairs so well with it, especially with the single white line matching the chronograph hand. For the money, seems like a very decent value proposition 👍🏼
Wow I have the original one now I gotta buy this one darn 😆 this is the best review I've seen of this watch by far I'm thinking of getting the corgeut bronze Tudor to great content 👍
I have a Tin tin Phylidia chronograph and have only noticed that it's bezel scale is not correct at the 3 O'Clock position. It's 225 marker is almost directly aligned to the 3 O'Clock postion when it should be a lot lower. The Corgeut at least has the 3 O'clock marker matching up with the 240 marker on the bezel which is as it should be.
Another great review Steve. I was initially put off by the bezel in the old version but this update has addressed the issue, and the price is just right. Pair it with a black military strap and you're good to go.
@@EscapeWheel You can't guess what happened to me, less than an hour after seeing this review I got a package in the mail and it was a gift from my girlfriend. In the box was the very same watch only the version 1 😂. She knew I had it in my sights and decided to surprise me. What a coincidence.
I know I'm a bit late but I just found this watch recently on ali and then found this review.. Just in time before the 11/11 sale goes off.. had to order one.. Love the look of it.
It's still around. Comes in and out of stock still. Best to just ask the seller as he usually has a good idea when it's coming. 👍. Buy this in the meantime though 😂
I have the blue dial version, where the watch performs as it should. No complaints to utter, where in retrospect, the black face would have been better choice, easier to read overall.
as an update to my ealier comments 1 year ago , after owning this watch for a couple of months I started to notice that the glass appeared ŧo slowly get more 'cloudy' and opaque . I wasn't too sure if it was condensation or not as I had only ever worn it occasionaly in rotation as a daily wearer and I have never been anywhere near water other than washing my hands, nor has it ever been subject to any extremes of temperature So today ( 26 Dec 22) I did a bit of research and discovered that I'm not the only one who's had this problem with this watch. I took the plunge and i removed the case back , removed the stem and the VK63 movement and I cleaned the the glass with glass cleaner , cotton bud and fibre cloth ...and it came up a treat. I checked the seal which looked perfect The toughest part was removing the case back which was on really tight , the stem removal was easy and you just need to know where to press ( google is your friend).
just out of curiosity would the phylida dial and movement fit in the corgeut case they look roughly the same..maybe you could have a mechanical movement in a slim case
I reviewed the Pagani...it definitely has the superior case and bracelet, by a long shot. But the dial, hands, crystal, and bezel insert on the Corgeut far outweigh the paganis IMO. I moved the Pagani along while the Corgeut remains in my collection.
@@EscapeWheel Yep. I agree with you, I love the vintage look of Corgeut but I read some feedback on Aliexpress and there is a video about the chrono hand, it pops out after several time reset. That is the only thing that makes me worry and hesitate
@@Johnwoo998 it uses a friction pin system so generally pretty easy to work with but I had problems pushing out the pins so must be a tolerancing issue. You may just need some really good tools
The reason the Corgeut has clear crystal is BECAUSE it's mineral crystal. A set of optical equations for reflection and transmission called Fresnel equations determines reflected glare depending on index of refraction of the glass. Higher means more glare. Regular glass or mineral crystal is about 1.52, acrylic is 1.49, and sapphire is 1.76. Sapphire crystals without AR coatings are highly reflective so the dial has poor contrast. I would much rather buy a cheaper watch with mineral glass or acrylic (my favorite because scratches easily are buffed out) than sapphire without AR coatings. Acrylic are light weight too. Sapphire with good AR is fine. I won't buy sapphire no AR.
Great review thank you ! They have all the normal Homages beat with this. BUT they blew it at the finish line....here is why. They didn't mark individual hours , minutes or seconds on any of the corresponding totalizers ! Its a Chronograph. but lets forget that a second ...the 24hour sub daily should have 12 markings, the minute sub totalizer should have 60 markings, that blew it for me. Would have spent 20 to 40 more for it. Oh well..
The way the last links are makes that really tough, to impossible to work with the existing bracelet. I plan on picking up a hollow endlinks Speedmaster style bracelet for it with a normal style clasp
@@EscapeWheel I would like to see it when you get one. Curious how the endlink fitment will be. I really like the look of this case. And I am a bracelet guy.
"All they did was enlarge the dial a bit and shrink the bezel"... Or, in other words, they finally made it look like an actual Speedmaster. Previous version was an abomination LOL.
Well, that's a shame. I've seen someone else say something similar before. They removed the dial (pretty simple) and cleaned the crystal from the inside and that fixed the problem....not something you should have to do, but if you don't want to deal with returning the watch or getting a small refund, this is your best option.
@@gerardobrien9975 thanks, and good luck 🤞. Let me know if you need any assistance. Pretty easy with the VK series. There's a hole in the movement labeled "press" which you need to depress a little button in to release the stem (from position zero).
I see that brand Phyldia, and Chlamydia enters my mind lol.... I dunno why lol... They don't look too bad though for a bit of fun. Though the moonwatch iconic and all, isn't my fav.
Lol, that Vario costs as much as the watch (almost). And usually I just like to give an idea of what it would look like on each type of strap if possible (stock, leather, single, and double pass)
Its non sense if they still release quartz battery powered. They must invest in good quality movement such as mechanical chronograph movements if they want to compete against Pagani Design, Parnis, etc.
Bit they also use quartz. And a mechanical Chrono would double the price and probably add a mm or more to the thickness. For $50 what's to complain about
@@EscapeWheel The VK63 seems to be a pretty solid movement as far as I can tell, and I'm ok with that for this watch as a speedy homage (and I'm just about to order one). The only mechanical chrono I really want in the Chinese watch price range is the Seagull 1963. I think it's beautiful.
I think I already stated it, but cannot recall, this watch is tiny. I was always skeptical of Aliexpress and decided to buy one to see what is all the hype about. Seriously, this Corgeut or PD homage are cheap quality and look Walmart Armitron finish. Don't believe many of the posts here, it is themselves boosting to make sales. They may have specs in paper, but do yourself a favor and match them side by side with an entry level Seiko or Citizen. My friendw making fun of me from what candy toy machine I got it from.
