Just to be clear, Ive had this watch for about 6 months maybe longer. Ive MAYBE worn it 5 times. I just find myself drawn away from the extremely long lug to lug, the useless tachymeter scale and the meaningless markings inside the day and date subdials. However this watch is pretty damn nice for the money. No doubt if this was sold at retail stores itd be 4x the price. The moonphase is not actually a moonphase but an am/pm indicator merely acting as decoration for the 24 hr subdial its housed in. The pushers are not great but i mean cmon its $89 CAD if not less on ali x. The strap is actually pretty decent too.
I love the expression - white elephant in the room - I am going to steal it. Also the end of time is ok as it works out at a cost of about $5 per year.
Not a Moonphase watch. The Sun and Stars simply go with the 24 hour hand and show day and night. I still enjoy the watch... I have the white/silver dial.
Do you like it ? I feel like this watch would be a lot better if it was 10 times the cost but 10 times the quality. I guess what I’m saying is they have a good looking watch but it could be so much better
Hello Everyone. I just purchased this watch recently. Does anyone know how many turns of the crown (from a dead stopped watch) does it take to fully wind the watch? I've read about 30-40 in general for automatic/hand wind watches, but not sure about this specific watch
It's not really important, since it's impossible to over-wind and break an automatic movement. It's not like a mechanical, handwind movement that doesn't slip when you put too much tension in the main spring. But yeah, that number is about right.
I bought one on Ebay. Sometimes you will find it there, sometimes you won´t . I don´t know the reason why, but perhaps you take a look every now and then. Greetings GdN
I have one and it's quite nice I recommend. The only real downside is the 2033 limit but I'm sure you can just service the watch and swap the old year wheel with a new one if you really liked the watch
I have one. Work very well since few months and keep time very well. Dial is very beautifull and well done, details are very fine. Hands too and super clean. Watch case is really well done to. One don't have much better with lots of "standard" japanese brand more expensive. the mouvement is no less, no more beautiful as A NH35 Seiko. Probably some rich purists would look at it under a microscope to be able to find microscopic faults, say that it's not handmade and say that it's worthless...BUT honestly one can compare an 80 buck watch with a 50,000 bucks watch ? I don't think so ! To have lots of watches (Seiko or others of the same kind) more expensive, well yes we can compare to realize that it's really great for much less expensive even if certain functions are called "manual" ! What more ? Many things are sometimes also views of the mind. Do we strut in front of a watch because we find it sublime, or do we find it sublime just because we know that it is a premium watch worth a fortune ? A “Grand Seiko” analyzed under a microscope turns out to be much better finished than a Rolex. However, it is much less expensive while lots of people strut around in front of a Rolex as if in front of the Holy Grail, until one of our former Presidents declared "If at 50, you don't have your Rolex, it's How you wasted your life!” Isn’t that despicable ? So isn't there a certain snobbery in all this ?? Anyway, I digress. If you like the look of this little unexpensive watch and you don't have the means of the Greats of this World, for this price, don't hesitate, you will not be disappointed, and I would even say that you will be very pleasantly surprised!
This watch is not as complicated as it looks. There's nothing wrong with the Sun&Moon dial, although the original has a moonphase indicator instead. Apart from that, it has a date subdial at 3 o'clock, and a day subdial at 9. The internal parts of these subdials are only for decoration purposes, I think, because there are no extra hands for those markings. The year window and the month window are only manually adjustable, I guess, not connected to the working mechanism, but I may be wrong. Apart from that, the year disc is only calibrated to a period of 30 years. These give 6 working automatic functions, plus the manually adjustable year and month functions. All those with a Chinese Seagull movement. I would rather invest 300 euros in an Orient Sun&Moon watch, with the same functions (except the manual ones), a much less cluttered face, and a decent, reliable, in-house movement.
