In this tutorial I demonstrate how to braid the corncob braid. It is a nice braid for various paracord wraps and can be used on handles and other objects.
It is not a braid that is used often, so I wanted to try it out and show it to you guys, so you can get to know it. It is always nice to learn a new braid, you never know what it can offer you!
I learned this braid from Bruce Grant's encyclopedia, a handy book that I really appreciate.
Enjoy the video!
Music by Kevin MacLoud and Jey Row.

How would you finish this off? It looks like the ends could come undone quite easily?

is it possible to do this braid with a single strand, and do you simply melt off the ends to secure it when you are done

What you don't show is how to finish the ends. Rather an important point I would think.

Can you use the Paracord over hot NYC apt steam pipes ?
@c.r.1005
@c.r.1005 4 года назад
I'm fairly certain that paracord would melt at those temperatures, as would most synthetic fibers. Natural fibers wouldn't melt, but are flammable. I think I'd just avoid the whole situation....
@c.r.1005
@c.r.1005 4 года назад
... or, maybe try anodized aluminum craft wire. It's available in several colors, won't melt at those temperatures, is fairly soft and easily bends, and should be colorfast. It's available in different sizes. 8 gauge (3mm) is about the same size as paracord.

What about finishing it??? And, I hate to be high maintenance, needy guy, but a rough guide on how much cord per inch of wrap would be valued intelligence. The materials needed + the quantity, doesn't seem to me to be unreasonably demanding of information, opposition to that might exist, I don't know?!? A guide can't provide too much information, assuming it's relevant, can it? I would say it can't....... if I was asked....... which I wasn't........ + won't be, given that I've made my position on the matter, what I hope, is clear.......... satisfied I've done so......... I'll bid 'good day' to you........ + go about my business......

Hey there! Well put. There is always more information to be had! Thing is, that the amount of cord needed varies quite a bit depending on the size of the object you are wrapping, hence I only demonstrate the technique. This is no excuse though, I agree that more information is always useful. Thank you for your constructive criticism, this is how this channel and the videos can improve! Mark

@@Paracordguild I've just come across this again, I realise now you are of course absolutely right, dimensions vary + you can get a rough idea by just wrapping some cord round your handle for an inch, or so + how much that uses is a loose estimate. An important thing to remember, + you're not often encouraged to go about things in this way, but where these estimates are concerned the golden rule is, excess equals success!!!!! Always over compensate, if you think 100 foot should do it, grab 110....... You can't have too much left over, however, if you don't have enough, it's game over, man!!!!! Excess cord isn't waste, it's an opportunity!!!!! You use it for who knows what?!? While I'm here, one thing I know about wrapping handles is you can improve the quality + feel if instead of bare wood, like in the video, you wrap on to rubber. Rubber tyre inner-tubes are perfect for handle grips, they truly are......... On their own they serve the purpose easily well enough for most folk, but for those of us who know better, the rubber is an ideal base for which to then wrap with paracord. The difference is clear, the rubber base improves the quality of the wrap by gripping the cord allowing tighter weaves/knots + the feel of the handle in your hand is enhanced by the slight give, or cushion effect, the rubber naturally provides. This Corncob Braid in the video is a great example, before I discovered the rubber tube I found it hard to get this braid tight. With a rubber base I can get it much tighter, neater too.......... All I can say is, try it........ I live in Asia + old inner-tubes are thrown away on the side of the road so fortunately I can just scoop them up. So, yes, there's also a positive environmental angle to this technique, it's win, win, win, all the way! If you had to buy a tube it wouldn't be the end of the world, you can wrap a load of handles with one tube. There you have it, then, my tip for paracord wrapping success........ Your videos are a great help, too, so thank you for that, keep up the fine work........

After 2 years I feel I have to write down somebody is always in need of education and tou never cease to get amazed about how much ignorance and rudeness you find in RU-vid comments... Instead of thanking for a brilliant tutorial there's often an ignorant who pretends to have more than he/she deserve. A classy person as Mark has demonstrated to be doesn't need anybody who take his part but sometimes an asshole is to be remembered he/she is one.

@@cocotimbo You're right about Mark not needing anyone to speak up for him, if he were ever to the ability to make sense would be a sought after quality, I'd imagine......... With that in mind, I think that would class you in the 'need not apply' bracket....... 'pretends to have more than he/she deserve'. What are you on about?!?!? Unlike you, with your name-calling, I wasn't rude, I wasn't talking to you, + the ignorance you speak of I'd say you exemplify, in no small way, with what you've written. If you want to have a pop at me, you'd do well to wait until you at least had something similar to an actual point, you could then state your case + be taken seriously..... So, think yourself lucky that I've given you the time I have. Learn from it, + don't bother me again, with any of your pointless junk. And, I suggest you acquire some manners before you speak of anyone else's lack of them. Now, if you feel stupid, don't worry, it just means you understood me...........

@@sihammer7942 read again your post(s) and hide your face in shame. You should be embarrassed. I evidently touched a nerve, even if I didn't write to you directly, as you can see. So if you answered it means you felt dragged out 🙂. Concerning bad manners, again, read your own posts. Especially your first one. If you wish more info about a, i.e., tutorial, ask politely because you can't claim no kingdom that way. But, ehi, ignorance can't be defeated, little kid...
